    Paul P. Kersten, 50, Greenleaf, died peacefully in the company of his family in his own home on Monday, Mar. 18, 2002, after a courageous battle with A.L.S. He was born on Oct. 4, 1951, in Green Bay, son of the late Norbert and Florence (Diny) Kersten. He married Gail M. Steinke on Sept. 3, 1977, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenleaf. He was employed by the Brillion Iron Works and also was a school bus driver for 10 years. He was an usher and active member at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenleaf. Paul enjoyed his hobby farm, bird watching, gardening, hunting, fishing and his angel collection.

    Paul is survived by his wife, Gail, Greenleaf four children, Dan (Julie) Kersten, Appleton Tammy Kersten, Appleton Charlene Kersten, Greenleaf and Dustin Kersten, Greenleaf grandson, Adam two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe (Evelyn) Kersten, Greenleaf and David (Bernetta) Kersten, Hilbert seven sisters and brothers-in-law, Cathy (Randy) Olejniczak, Green Bay Irene (Tom) Strenn, Appleton Rita (Richard) Koltz, Greenleaf Doris (Donald) Wegand, Greenleaf Linda (Bernard) Vander Heiden, Kaukauna Mary (Andrew) Hassemer, Greenleaf and Lou Ann (Warren) Rueden, De Pere mother-in-law, Vernita Steinke, Brillion Gail's sister and brother-in-law, Ellen and Joseph Opalecky, Algonquin, Ill. brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald and Cheryl Steinke, Athens and Donald and Penny Steinke, Brillion and Paul is further survived by a special uncle, Peter Kersten, Green Bay and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Florence and Norbert, brother-in-law, Keith Steinke, and father-in-law, Raymond Steinke.

    Friends and family may call Wednesday, Mar. 20, 2002, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at DeWane-Cotter Funeral Home, 711 Main St., Wrightstown, where there will be a Parish Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue directly at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenleaf from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of Mass on Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Mar. 21, 2002, at church, with Fr. Robert Kabat officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

    A special thank you to our very, very special friend, Mary Lawrence, Dr. Brooks and his staff at University Hospital in Madison, Carolyn Younk of MDA and to the entire Greenleaf/Wrightstown community for all their support through Paul's devastating illness.
