    Obituary:
    Donald R. Stoegbauer, age 80, Appleton, died Sunday, June 28, 2009, at Appleton Medical Center as the result of a brain tumor. He was born February 20, 1929, in Appleton to the late Frank and Florence (Kranhold) Stoegbauer. He was ordained a Priest in 1955 and served the parishes of St. John, of Little Chute, St. Mary, of Menasha, and St. Mary, of Florence, WI. On December 14, 1968, he was united in marriage to Carol Hackl, the couple have enjoyed over 40 years together. Don then worked as an assistant superintendent for the school system in Homewood, IL. After retirement, he and Carol moved back to Appleton in 1994.
    Don was extremely active in the Fox River Valley community. He was a member of the 3rd order of St. Francis, he founded the Fox Valley Warming Shelter, he was a board member with the COTS organization, belonged to the Esther Group, was a member of the Circles of Support, he protested with a peace organization at the School of Americas at Fort Benning. Don loved to golf, but most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
    He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Carol, Appleton; son Larry (Liz) Stoegbauer, Chicago; Daughter Fran Deane, Appleton; grandchildren: Michael and Maggie Stoegbauer; brother James (Elsie) Stoegbauer, Appleton; sister Lois Petit, Appleton; brother in law Robert Griesbach, Dlavan, and Mary Hockers, De Pere, who has been just like family for many years.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Donald; three sisters: Ann Stoegbauer, Mary Lou Griesbach, and Dorothy (Richard) Richert; brother in law Mark Petit, and son-in-law James Deane.
    A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 410 Wallace St. Combined Locks, with Father James Lucas officiating, and Father Robert Vandeberg concelebrating. Friends may visit directly at the church on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the Fox Valley Warming Shelter.
    The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Rennes, the Oncology Department at AMC, Karen Swiechichowski, and Carol Porshe for the kindness, care, and concern shown to Don.
