    Obituary:
    Helen Hagens, age 96, Kimberly, passed away Monday at the Parkside Care Center in Little Chute. She was born August 21, 1912, in Spruce, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Joseph and Lola (La Verge) Martineau. The family moved to Kimberly when Helen was twelve, and later she married Lawrence Hagens on September 20, 1932, in Kimberly; Lawrence preceded her in death in 1999, after sixty-seven years of marriage.
    Helen was very skilled in all of the domestic arts - sewing, tailoring, upholstery, cooking, baking, and especially making desserts! She and Lawrence always enjoyed hosting bountiful Christmas dinners at their home and 4th of July celebrations at their summer cottage on Lake Winnebago. Her greatest pleasure was visiting with family, friends, and neighbors. She looked forward to visits from grandchildren and hearing about their activities. When her family was grown, Helen and Lawrence enjoyed cross-country trips with Helen driving and Lawrence navigating. She also enjoyed many bus trips with her sister, brother, and their spouses. One of the highlights of her travels was a 1985 overseas trip to Germany, Switzerland, and Austria with her daughter's family. To relate memories of her trip, she could also refer to her hand-written travel journals.
    Helen is survived by seven loving children:
    Lois (Charles) Neuser of Darboy and their children: Mary (Lee) Waldhart, Scott (Carol) Neuser, Thomas Neuser, and John (Jennifer) Neuser;
    Peter (Darlene) Hagens of Hilbert and their children: Kelly (Jeff) Krueger, Chris (Steve) Van Deurzen, Nicole (Mike) Mongan, and Paula (Kevin) Schuh;
    Charles (Barbara) Hagens of Combined Locks and their children: Greg (Kathy) Hagens, Charles A. (Sue) Hage ns, Carrie (Dave) Merkel, Dan (Donna) Hagens, and Dawn (Brian) Baker;
    Clifford (Joyce) Hagens of Hilbert and their children: Stephanie (Brent) Shepherd, Lisa (Frank) Halbach, David Hagens, and Cassandra Hagens;
    Jerome (Barbara) Hagens, MD of Appleton and their children: Nathan Hagens and Todd (Jennifer) Hagens;
    Michael (Carol) Hagens of Darboy and their children: Nicole (Eric) Miller, Brad Hagens, and Terri (Josh) Joseph;

    Helen is also survived by a daughter-in-law: Joan Hagens of Laona and her children: Larry Hagens and Michelle (Dan) Madden; there are also forty-one great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law: Adeline Rusch, Estella Fahrbach, and Norma Martineau. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence in 1999, a son Ralph Hagens, a sister Cecilia (Henry) Coonen, a brother Ralph Martineau, and brothers-in-law Howarth Rusch, Henry Fahrbach, and Orville Hagens, and by Lawrence's parents Peter and Cornelia Speel Hagens.
    The funeral liturgy for Helen will be held at 12 Noon on Monday, August 3, 2009, at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue in Kimberly with Fr. David Beaudry officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
    Helen's day at Parkside Care Center was brightened by many visits from family and friends. The family would like to especially thank Helen Gaffney and Norma Martineau for always keeping Helen in their thoughts, visits, and prayers. The family is also grateful to the staff at Parkside and to Dr. Daniel Smith for their excellent care and special attention.
    Mom, you guided us by your strength, grace, love, persistence, and determination. Your spirit will be with us always.

    Arnold J. Coonen, Combined Locks, age 73, lost his battle with cancer on Monday, November 19, 2007, at home. Arnie was born in Kaukauna on March 1, 1934, to the late Henry and Ceil (Martinneau) Coonen, the oldest of five children. He married the former Jeanette Rusch on May 30, 1961. Arnie farmed all his life, expanding the farm to a feed and grain business. He worked hard and enjoyed every minute of it. Arnie enlisted into the U.S. Army on December 10, 1956, and served his country in Korea until his honorable discharge on October 16, 1958. He played saxophone in the Army Band. Arnie was an active member at St. Aloysius Parish. He was also a member of the Kaukauna Elks and Lions Club, and held offices in both organizations. Arnie helped establish the Service Organization Annual get together (Van Abels, Hollandtown) to honor dedicated volunteers of which he also was a recipient. His passion for helping people extended to a mission group to aid the people in El Ayota, Nicaragua, were he went 2 years until his health began to fail. Arnie was very proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved his family very much and will be greatly missed.
    He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; his five children: Henry (Lynn) and their children; Kristy and Ryan; David (Pat), stepchildren, Jenny (Ryan) Roth and Chris Van Asten, step-great-grandchildren, Addison and Gabriella Roth; Barbara (Al) Trudel and her son, Joshua Coonen; Christopher (Julie) and their children, Kayla and Matthew; Roland (Lori) and their child, Miranda; his brother, Don Coonen, sisters: Lola (Lyle) Nienhaus, Carol (Darrell) Jansen, sisters-in-law: Bonnie Coonen and Marilyn Coonen. He is further survived by his wife's family, Barbara (Ken) Thomach and their family, two Aunts and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert and Godchild, Kathy. He was further preceded in death by his wife's family, her parents, Ed and Phyllis Rusch, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
    The Mass of Christian Burial will be 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2007, at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH at ST. ALOYSIUS SITE, 2401 Main Avenue, Kaukauna, with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends will be received on Wednesday at Church from 2 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established for Catholic School System and the Mission in El Ayote, Nicaragua. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna, is assisting the family. 920-766-2099.

    Coonen, Robert "BoBob" Coonen, of Kaukauna, loving husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, and brother, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family February 28, 2006, after a valiant five year battle with cancer. He was born August 17, 1935, to Cecelia (Martineau) and Henry Coonen in Kaukauna, WI. He was united in marriage to Bonnie (Boettcher Affeldt) June 20, 1987. He had previously been married to Marilyn (Hartjes) and they had five children together. Kevin (Nancy) Coonen, Appleton; Kathy (Mark) Dahlin who preceded him in death; Karen (Tom) Lenz, Kaukauna; Ken (Lorie) Coonen, Kaukauna; and Kory Coonen, Kaukauna. Bob was a loving stepfather to Jeff (Lorie Walker) Affeldt, Madison; James (Mary Ann) Affeldt, Neenah; and Joelle Affeldt (Tom) Gehring, Farwell, MI. Bob is also survived by his grandchildren: Casey and Autumn Coonen, Mackenzie Dahlin, Kelsey Coonen, Devan and Troy Lenz, Katie, Jesse, and Jamie Coonen, Ashley and Shawn Angle Coonen and Forrest Gehring; his brothers: Arnold (Jeanette) Coonen, Don Coonen; and sisters: Carol (Darrel) Jansen, and Lola (Lyle) Nienhaus.He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy (Dahlin) and his parents. Bob graduated from Kaukauna High school in 1954 and entered the U.S. Navy where he served active duty on a destroyer as an Ensign-Machinist Mate in 1962 and served as a training reserve primarily in the Caribbean. In 1980 he rose to Commander continuing to serve on destroyers and aircraft carriers until his retirement in 1984.
    Bob was a member of the American Legion Post 496, Sherwood, WI. Bob was employed by Hartjes Electric, Superior Electric, St. Elizabeth Hospital and most recently by Hoffman Corporation. He was superintendent in project management and was responsible for the project management of Kaukauna High School, Waupaca High School, Winnebago County Human Services, and several other large building projects. Bob was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kaukauna, volunteered as a youth instructor, and used his talent as an electrician to beautify the facility. He also served as an electrician on two mission trips to Mexico. He had a great love for music and enjoyed singing in the Celebrator Choir. Bob's passion was sailing and he spent over 35 summers cruising Lake Winnebago and the Bay of Green Bay with family and friends. Bob's Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Friday, March 3, 2006, at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna with Fr. J ack Mullarkey officiating. Friends will be received on THURSDAY, March 2 at CHURCH 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Full Military Burial Rites will take place at Church following Bob's service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund for Holy Cross's Music Program has been established. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna is assisting the family. 920-766-2099. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Martha Seikman Cancer Center, especially Dr. John Swanson as well as the staff and Dr. Scott Kolbeck of Urology Associates of Wisconsin and the Theda Care at Home Hospice staff; especially Kathy, Ann and Charlie.

    Kaukauna Age 41, joined Lord in harmony October 12, 2001 after a courageous and inspiring 14-month battle with cancer. This amazing mother, wife, daughter, s ister and friend died at home in her mother's arms, surrounded by the lo ve of her husband and family. Kathy was born May 10, 1960, attended Holy C ross Grade School, Kaukauna High School, and the University of Wisconsin-E au Claire. On December 30, 1993, she married long-time friend, Mark Dahli n. Three years later, they were blessed with the precious gift of their li ttle daughter, Mackenzie. Kathy was employed at St. Elizabeth Hospital unt il she chose to become a full-time mom.Kathy's spirit and enthusiasm for living brilliantly shined through the ca ncer in so many simple and powerful ways. Recently, she fulfilled a wi sh of hers by taking Mackenzie to Disney World in May with her husband. Ka thy celebrated life through her music. Particularly, she shared her gre at love of sacred music through her dedication and commitment to music min istry. At Holy Cross Parish she served over 20 years as cantor, soloist, i nstrumentalist and member of the Celebrator Choir. In keeping her music al ive, Kathy and her family created a CD recorded in September, which featur es mom and Mackenzie singing "On Eagles Wings."Kathy will forever live in the hearts of her husband, Mark, and daughte r, Mackenzie; mother, Marilyn Coonen, and father, Robert H. (Bonnie) Coone n; her sister and best friend, Karen (Tom) Lenz; brothers Kevin (Nancy) Co onen, Ken (Lori) Coonen, and Kory Coonen.
