Obituary:
Marie A. Huiting, 103, Kimberly, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 15, 2011, at St. Paul Home. She was born on May 12, 1908, in Kaukauna, to the late Henry and Nellie (Bergman) Bongers. Marie married Joseph Huiting on Aug. 16, 1932, in Little Chute. In 1946, they moved to Reedsville where they owned and operated Huiting Electric until Joe's death on Dec. 6, 1956. After Joe's death, Marie worked as an assistant cook at the Reedsville High School, leaving to care for her father in Little Chute for 10 years. She then worked as a housekeeper at North Shore Golf Club. Marie was a longtime member at St. John Catholic Church in Little Chute. She most recently attended Holy Name Church in Kimberly. Marie was an avid crafter, enjoying knitting, sewing, and crocheting. She crocheted an afghan for each of her grandchildren. Many will remember her for love of playing cards and her stories and jokes. Marie enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Robert Huiting, Green Bay; daughter, Mary (Gene) Gauthier, Oshkosh; son-in-law, Edgar Nate, Manitowoc; 15 grandchildren; 39 great- grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Orville Bongers, Little Chute, and Bernard Bongers, Appleton; sister, Rosella Van Dyke, Kaukauna; brother-in-law, Theodore (Jule) Huiting, Little Chute; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; daughter, Elaine Nate; son-in-law, Alois Linsmeier; daughter-in-law, Shirley Huiting; a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter; two brothers, Cyril Bongers (infant) and Joseph Bongers and two sisters, Catherine Schumacher and Lucina Jansen.
The funeral liturgy for Marie will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH - KIMBERLY, 400 E. Kimberly Avenue. Fr. David Beaudry will be officiating. Interment will be held at St. Mary Cemetery, Reedsville. The visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.

Obituary:
Catherine J. Schumacher, age 99, formerly of Kimberly, passed away Monday evening, April 6, 2009, at St. Paul Home. Catherine was born March 1, 1910, in Little Chute, to Henry and Nellie (Bergman) Bongers. On June 24, 1933, she was united in marriage to the late Martin H. Schumacher at St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute. Martin preceded her in death on June 24, 1947.
For 25 years Catherine worked at Paul Wydeven Insurance as a secretary. She was a faithful member at Holy Spirit Parish, Kimberly, and a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and a past Chief Ranger.
Catherine is survived by her four children: Eleanor De Koch, Gerald (Mary) Schumacher, both of Kimberly, Kenneth (Sarah) Schumacher, Onalaska, WI, Dennis (Judy) Schumacher, Hiles, WI; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchild; two sisters: Marie Huiting and Rosella Van Dyke, both of Kaukauna; two brothers: Orville Bongers, Little Chute, and Bernard Bongers, Appleton; sister-in-law: Evelyn Bongers, Kimberly; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Martin, Catherine is preceded in death by her son-in-law: Charles De Koch; her sister: Lucina Jansen; two brothers, Cyril and Joseph Bongers; three sisters-in-law: Helen, Wilma, and Barbara Bongers; three brothers-in-law: Joseph Huiting, Emil Van Dyke, and Nick Jansen; one daughter-in-law: Susan Schumacher; a grandson; a great-grandson; and many other Schumacher family members.
A Funeral Liturgy for Catherine will be held 12 noon, Monday, April 13, 2009, at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue, Kimberly. Fr. David Beaudry will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Catherine's name.

Rosella P. Van Dyke, formerly of Kimberly, age 99, died Monday May 7, 2012 at the St. Paul Home. She was born on Little Chute on April 29, 1913 to the late Henry and Petronella (Bergman) Bongers. Rosella married Emil Van Dyke on August 21, 1935 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Little Chute. He preceded her in death on April 3, 1978. Rosella enjoyed playing bingo and socializing during the St. Paul Home's happy hour and the monthly dinner outings. She also liked to read, knit, crochet and play in her neighborhood monthly card club.
Rosella is survived by her children: Jean (Hooyman) Weyenberg, Vanden Broek; Karen (Jerry) Dollevoet, Appleton; and Jim (Mary Jo) Van Dyke, Appleton; grandchildren: Mike (Ellen), Steve (Mary) and Tom (Vonnie) Hooyman, Dan (Meredith) and Jesse (Heather) Dollevoet, Jenny (Dave) Sprangers, Brady (Amy) Sturm and Emily (Jerry) Gordee; great-grandchildren: Amy (Ryan) Vosters, Katie, Kim and Kelsey Hooyman, Alex and Annika Dollevoet, Noah and Chloe Sprangers, Kylie and Katie Sturm, Caleb, Alexa and Taylor Gordee; great-great-granddaughter Lauren; brother Bernard "Beany" Bongers; sister-in-law Evelyn Bongers; and special godchild Joan Martinez. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Rosella was preceded in death by her sons-in-law: Ervan Hooyman and Romie Weyenberg; brothers Joseph, Cyril and Orville (Barbara) Bongers; sisters: Lucina (Nick) Jansen, Catherine (Martin) Schumacher and Marie (Joseph) Huiting; and sisters-in-law: Helen and Wilma Bongers.
Visitation will be held Friday May 11, 2012 at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH (620 E. Kimberly) beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 12:00 Noon. The Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen will officiate. Age 87, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2001, at St. Paul Home, Kaukauna, d ue to complications with kidney disease and diabetes. Lucina was born M ay 9, 1914, in Little Chute to the late Henry W. and Nellie (Bergman) Bong ers. She married Nicholas J. Jansen August 23, 1937, at St. John Cathol ic Church in Little Chute and they resided in Little Chute their entire ma rried life.
She was a member of the St. Elizabeth Society, the Catholic Order of Fores ters and the Mission Club, with whom she made many beautiful rosaries. S he loved to play cards, especially sheepshead. She enjoyed fishing with h er family while vacationing in the North during the summer. She was bless ed with creativity which she expressed through many different crafts and n eedlework. Her singing voice was beautiful, although she chose to sing mos tly when she thought no one was listening. Her cooking was excellent and s he appreciated sharing a meal someone else had cooked by saying "It was ju st as good as if you would have fussed." In their earlier years, she and N ick shared many wonderful times square-dancing with friends and were membe rs of the "Village Squares." In more recent years, they enjoyed trips thro ughout the United States. Favorite times were those spent with her fami ly where she would always acknowledge as she left, "I had a good time at y our party." She loved the Green Bay Packers.

Obituary:
Orville J. Bongers, Little Chute, passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at the age of 95 with his loving family at his side. Orville was born March 12, 1916, in Little Chute, to the late Henry W. and Petronella Bongers, one of eight children. He attended St. Lawrence Seminary in 1931, and graduated from St. John High School in 1933. Orville enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II, completed Officer's Candidate School, served on active duty from 1942 to 1946 and the Army Reserve until 1952. He attained the rank of Captain in the Medical Service Corp. In 1944, he married Barbara Hammen, high school classmate and love of his life, and together they raised their family of five children. They opened their home to Barbara's sisters, Elizabeth and Jane in 1952, and for many years this "family of nine" shared a great deal of love and fun together. Orville worked 40 years for Kimberly-Clark as an instrument technician/foreman, and retired in 1976 to spend more time with his family, his golf game, Sheephead and fighting the "battle of the weeds" in his lawn. He was a lifelong member of St. John Church and a man of great faith. In addition to serving on the St. John Parish Council and School Board, he ushered, lectured, and was a co-founder and first appointed president of the St. John Athletic Association. Years later he was indeed proud to be inducted into the Athletic Association Hall of Fame. Athletics were a large part of who Orville was. He played for the Northern States Traveling Baseball League in his younger years, refereed many high school and college basketball games in the area and only gave up working on his golf game when his arthritic ankles would not allow it. Orville was a proud member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258, serving as its Post Commander in 1952. He also belonged to the Quarter Century Club and Atlas Management Club at Kimberly-Clark.
Those who knew Orville knew him to be a man of principle, a man of old-fashioned honor with an insatiable appetite for reading novels, newspapers, sports magazines, and anything he could get his hands on. He loved a good prank, funny joke, or hearing a good story, and always had one of his own to share. Orville was real-life hero to his family - the kind of man/person you wanted to be like someday. He loved everyone always, and we loved him back. This wonderful man died with a smile on his face and fulfillment in his heart. He had done his best to be the kind of husband, father and friend we could be proud of and knew he "gave it everything he had."
Orville is survived by his children, Charles J. (Joyce) Bongers, Grand Chute; Ellen (Philip) Vanderhyden Jr., Menasha; Janet (Jack) Kruse, Sherwood; Anne (Jeff) Weiland, Appleton; and Stephen (Deb) Bongers, Grand Chute. Grandchildren, Christopher and Leanne Bongers, Elizabeth (Joseph) Franzoi, Philip III and John Vanderhyden, Andrew (Laura) Kruse, Anne (Matt) Lautz, Bradley Kruse, Neil (Jessica) Weiland, Laura (Owen) Yaklin, Pam (Travis) Lowe, Leah (John) Van Rooy, and Kale, Quinn and Nicholas Bongers. Great-grandchildren, Drew and Bryn Korth, Alexandra and Theodore Kruse, Nolan Lautz, Katie, Claire and Nora Weiland, and Sara Yaklin. He was also looking forward to the arrival of four additional great-grandchildren.
He is further survived by his siblings, Bernard "Beany" Bongers and Rosella Van Dyke; brother and sisters-in-law, Evelyn Bongers, Grace Hoffman, Marian Vanden Heuvel, Gordon (Margy) Hammen, Josephine Hammen, Betty Hammen and Jane Hammen. He had four very special godchildren, MaryBeth Wilson, Mike Bongers, Paula Huiting and Barbara Stave; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. You each held a most treasured spot in his heart.
In addition to his beloved wife, Barbara, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Julie Kruse; siblings, Joseph and Cyril Bongers, Lucina (Nick) Jansen, Catherine (Martin) Schumacher, Marie (Joseph) Huiting; brothers and sisters-in-law, Emil Van Dyke, Roger Hammen, Eugene Hammen, Carl Hammen, Dr. E.J. Bernard "Beany" Bongers, Little Chute, age 94, died Thursday January 17, 2013 at Brewster Village. He was born in Little Chute on May 18, 1918 to the late Henry and Petronella (Bergman) Bongers. Beany married Helen Gertrude Orth at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church on April 26, 1941 where he was a lifelong member. She preceded him in death on May 23, 1983. He married Wilma Losselyong in January 25, 1986. She preceded him in death on August 21, 2002. Beany served in the Army Air Corp during World War II and was a 65 year member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258. Athletics were very important to him. Beany served as Head Coach and Assistant Coach for St. John High School Varsity Basketball and Football teams for several years. He was a member of the St. John Athletic Association Hall of Fame. He was an avid golfer and belonged the to Fox Valley and Ridgeway golf clubs. Beany was the President of the Bank of Little Chute until his retirement in June, 1980. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Forestors and Little Chute Fire Department.
Beany is survived by his children: Mike (Carol), Avon Lake, OH; Tom, Little Chute; Kay, Little Chute; Joan (Pedro) Martinez, Milwaukee; Hank (Donna), Janesville; Patti, Kimberly; and Bill, Houston, TX; grandchildren: Bill (Corinne) and Mark Bongers, Tim (Niki) Stephani, Cindy (Matt) Kuettner, Amy Stephani, Becky (Marco) Lopez, Neal and Sam Martinez, Sean Tormey, Shad and Mike Bosmans, Melinda (Keir) Anderson, Kevin and Sara Bongers; 12 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Evelyn Bongers; and special Godfriend Melissa Feldman. On Wednesday, December 26th, 2007, Clarence H. Bongers, age 93, entered into eternal life with Jesus while being held in the loving arms of his daughter Patti at Cherry Meadows Hospice. He was born in Little Chute on November 17, 1914, to the late Martin and Antoinette (Van Domelen) Bongers and was a lifelong resident of Little Chute. Clarence married the love of his life, Marie D. Van Thiel on June 20, 1939, at St. Nicholas, Freedom. She preceded him in death on January 4, 2001, after 62 years of marriage. Their marriage, values, and religious beliefs were loving examples for their children and grandchildren. Watching daily mass and rosary along with a devotion to the Divine Mercy Chaplet, was an important part of his day. He truly loved the Lord and passed his devotion to God on to his family.
After 42 years of service at Combined Locks Paper Mill as Assistant Paper Machine Superintendent, Clarence retired to enjoy his family. Hunting, fishing and woodworking were his favorite pastimes along with spending time with his family in his workshop. His specialty was bird houses. He was still making wren houses on December 8th for his children's Christmas gifts. A favorite card game was playing 500 Rummy, placing a lucky dollar on the game. Clarence especially enjoyed time spent with family and friends at Pickerel Lake. From a hotshot horseshoe player, to fishing for the big one, to shop projects and playing with the young ones, he had a knack for putting smiles on the kids and grandkids faces, making everyone feel special in a unique way.

Mabel M. (Bloy) DeGrave, 98, Green Bay, passed away peacefully Friday, April 29, 2016 into the arms of her Lord. She was born December 26, 1917 to Henry and Mathilda Bergman in Kaukauna. She started her employment at Uneeda Laundry and Dry Cleaning in Appleton and later at Montgomery Ward and Prange's in Green Bay. Our Mom was a feisty little red-haired lady who did not hesitate to give you her opinion. We are convinced that her great spirit and zest for life contributed to her long life.
Mabel loved shopping, gardening and flowers, going to the lake and fishing with our Dad, playing cards and bingo, and did we mention shopping? She was always dressed well and loved her jewelry.
Above all, she loved and took great pride in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-children, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren. She married our Dad, Donald J. Bloy, at St. John's Catholic Church in Little Chute on Sept. 2, 1939 and he passed away in 1986.
Mabel is survived by her four children, Harlan (Ruth) Bloy, Janet Laes, Barbara (Ben) Cruz-Uribe, Bonnie (Stan) Waslowski; eight grandchildren, Julie (Jim) Proebsting, Kristine (Brian) Finell, Beth (Red) Rogge, Eric (Kelli) Laes, Lara Cruz-Uribe, Justin (Kim) Cruz-Uribe, Karen (Rob) Gitlewski, Kathy Waslowski and her special friend, Tim; eight great-grandchildren; a step-granddaughter, Jennifer (Jeremy) Doucette; a step-grandson, Greg Deatherage; five step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren.
In 1992, she married Roland A. DeGrave and expanded our family to include: seven step-children, Gary (Pat) DeGrave, Roger (Betty) DeGrave, Gale (Steve) Schmiedlin, Judy DeGrave, Gini (Kip) Detry, Kathy DeGrave, Mike (Diane) DeGrave; 14 step-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren.

Alice M. Van Asten, age 86, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family on October 12, 2015. She was born on February 2, 1929, to the late Joseph M. Van Handel and the late Catherine Bongers Van Handel of the Town of Vandenbroek. She had two brothers, the late Jerome Van Handel and the late Donald Van Handel. Alice grew up on the family farm and attended a one-room schoolhouse before going on to high school. She taught herself to play the guitar as a young girl, and music continued to be her passion throughout her life.
She married Ervin J. Van Asten on June 23, 1949. They had just celebrated their 65th anniversary when he passed away in July of 2014. She took great pride in her family of five daughters, keeping busy with their activities for many years. She and her late husband raised their family in Little Chute, where they had close relationships with neighbors who remained lifelong friends. Some of her happiest memories were of family camping trips and times at their cottage on Lulu Lake.
During her husband's career, she accompanied him on business trips throughout the U.S. and Europe. After retirement, they moved to a house on Lake Poygan where they enjoyed living on the water. For many years they spent winters in Lakeland, Florida, enjoying times with their snowbird friends. She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Mackville, where she participated in the Christian Womens Group.
Alice is survived by her five daughters; Sherry (Elroy) Barth of Appleton, Kristie (Greg) Smith of Greensboro, NC, Debra (Joe) Weiland of Green Bay, Gail (Chuck) Ruys of Appleton, and Jill (Duane) Repp of Hartland. She had twelve grandchildren; Carolyn Vander Heiden, Joshua Barth (Sherry), Eric Smith (Ellie), Andrea Smith Cowart (Michael), Corinne Smith (Greg), Ryan Weiland, John Weiland (Shelly), Greg Weiland (Alissa), Adam Ruys, Dan Ruys, Matthew Repp, Kathryn Repp, and great-grandchildren, Hope Lynn Barth and Kate, Emily and Liam Weiland. A fifth great-grandchild is due in late October.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 15th at St. Edward Catholic Church in Mackville, with visitation beginning at 2:30 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Walter Stumpf, with concelebrant, Ken Kabat. A private entombment will take place on Friday at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton. Family members wish to express their appreciation to Jen and her compassionate staff at Heartwood Homes and the many dedicated caregivers from AseraCare Hospice. Donald F. Van Handel, 79, new London, passed away early Saturday morning, Aug. 13, 2011, at New London Family Medical Center. He was born Aug. 4, 1932. On Sept. 19, 1987, he was united in marriage to Linda (Gehrke) Doucette.
Don was an Army veteran. He was employed at Neenah Foundry until his retirement and then worked at Huettl's for many years as a bus driver and mechanic. He enjoyed time spent camping, especially at Captain's Cove. Fishing, cribbage, bowling and playing miniature golf were some of his favorite pastimes.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; children, Russ (special friend, Gloria) Van Handel, Menasha; Deb (Mike) Lewis, Clintonville; Darlene (Jeff) McNichols, Black Creek; Jeff Doucette (special friend, Courtney Mastey), Shiocton; Kevin (Stacy) Doucette, Shiocton; 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and one sister, Alice (Ervin) Van Asten, Appleton.

Kelly, Mary J. Tiedt, The Lord called Mary home on Thursday, August 17, 2006, at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Seymour at the age of 83. She was born on December 25, 1922, in Appleton, the daughter of Robert and Frieda (Denstedt) Bongers. She graduated from Appleton High School class of 1941. During the war, Mary worked for NA Aviation Inc. She married Donald Tiedt on November 18 1944, in Appleton; he preceded her March of 1979. They had farmed in Center Valley until 1960, then moved to Black Creek, where her husband owned and operated Don's Auto Service. They moved to Florida in 1975. She owned and operated Mary's upholstery until 1998, she enjoyed making and selling Christmas wreaths, and her monthly gatherings with the Club, Mary then married James Kelly Sr. in 1987, he preceded her in death in July 1998, when Mary returned to Wisconsin.
She is survived by three children: Dennis (Linda) Tiedt of Appleton; Joanne (Nehring) Wiegert of Tomahawk; Sheldon Tiedt of Sherrill, NY; eight grandchildren: Rob Tiedt and (Fiancee) Erica Schneider of Appleton; Mike (Erica) Tiedt of Appleton; Leann Brandon of Kaukauna; James Tiedt of Appleton; Sara (Rob) Childs of Andover, KS; Joe Nehring of Racine; Melissa and Elizabeth Tiedt of Durhamville, NY and eight great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents; husbands; a brother, Roy Bongers, a sister, Jean Beyer and three grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2006, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Black Creek, at 11 a.m., with the Reverend Steven Schleict officiating. Visitation will be at Valley Funeral Home Monday, August 21, 2006, from 4-8 p.m. and Tuesday morning at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Appleton.

Rhoden, Jerome Jerry "J.R." Rhoden, age 74, Appleton, was born to eternal life on Saturday, September 19, 2015. He was born in Phlox, WI on November 3, 1940, son of the late Lawrence and Idella (Kamps) Rhoden. After high School in New London 1958, Jerry went on to Home Construction School, Port Hueneme, California for the US Navy. Jerry spent four years island hopping the Philippines and the Aleutian Islands under command of Mobile Construction Battalion#5, better known as the "Seabees". After building hundreds of homes in the Fox Valley (possibly yours!), Jerry's son Randy started a woodworking shop and taught "Dad" the finer aspects of woodworking. In 1964, Jerry married his sweetheart, Beverly Meyer "B.B.".
Jerry leaves behind his beloved wife of 51 years, and their children: Randy (Janet) Rhoden and Laurie (Dann) Burghardt; grandchildren: Christina and Olivia Burghardt; his siblings, Loraine Dixon, Muskego, MI; Rosalyn Oberstadt, New London and Florence Scholl, Shawano; Ruth (Dick) Simpson, Clintonville; Cecilia (Pete) Dernbach, Antigo and sisters-in-law, Carolyn Rhoden, Milwaukee and Mary Rhoden, Dale. Victor James Lee Rhoden "VJ" "Vic", 67, Dale, passed away Wednesday, May 15th 2013, at home with his family by his side from complications from Mantle Cell Lymphoma.
He was born on August 14th, 1945, "VJ Day" in New London, WI, son of the late Lawrence and Idella Mary (Kamps) Rhoden. He graduated from New London High School in 1963 and was looking forward to going to the 50th class reunion until ill health slowed him down. He served two years in the US Navy on the USS Canberra- CAG-2 as a radar specialist during the Vietnam War. After service he worked as a carpenter with his brother Jerry. He then worked at Melray, Thermo Electron, and presently at Pierce IPP Plant in the "mod" bay.
He was a long time member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, New London.
He is survived by his best friend and wife of 32 years, Mary. His children: Heather (Robert) Kaminski, Greenville, WI; David (Emily) Rhoden, Snohomish, WA; April (Nathan) Treague, Appleton, WI. His grandchildren: Alexander Kaminski and special friend Elizabeth Van Sistine; Daniel Kaminski; Zofia Kaminski; Aleksandra Kaminski; Leviticus Rhoden; Asa Rhoden; and grandpuppy Shiloh Treague.

Hilary W. Hayek, age 82, of Tigerton, passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2012. He was born in Laona on September 1, 1930, son the late Charles F. and Florence M. (Kamps) Hayek. After graduation from Laona High School in 1948, Hilary enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, where he served until 1973. Upon his retirement from the Marine Corp, Hilary moved to Tigerton where he became a Deacon with St. Anthony's Catholic Church for the last 25 years. He also enjoyed cutting wood and helping anyone he could, he was a very generous man.
Hilary is survived by a brother; Howard (Elaine), Tigerton and two sisters; Theresa (James) Wizner, Shawano, and Eileen Hayek, Green Bay. He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Hilary was preceded in death by two brothers; Myron and Charles, and four sisters; Mary L. Hawks, Carol J. Kubiaczyk, Donna Bohne and Kathy Haynes.

She was very out-going and loved to be with people, especially children. She competed in the Special Olympics and won many medals. She enjoyed reading her Bible books and knitting. She enjoyed going to her summer camps and was always ready to be on the go.

Grace P. Vander Velden, Kimberly, age 72, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Wednesday August 20, 2014 at Appleton Medical Center. She was born in Little Chute on February 6, 1942 to the late Clarence and Marie (Van Thiel) Bongers. Grace married Gene Vander Velden on November 4, 1961 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. She worked as an administrative assistant for the Kimberly School District and in the finance department for the Village of Little Chute before taking a position with the Town of Menasha, where Grace retired as Finance Director. She was an active member of Holy Spirit Parish, the Church Choir, Mission Club, and a Eucharistic Minister.
Growing up in Little Chute, she was a proud member of the Drum and Bugle Corps. When her girls were younger, Grace was a Girl Scout and Brownie Troop Leader. She and Gene were Florida 'snowbirds' enjoying the Cape Coral warmth with many good friends. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, horseshoes, and spending time with family and friends at the cottage in Pickerel. Grace was a member of Curves and loved seeing her friends there. Her passion for sewing led to hundreds of projects, with a special talent of matching outfits for her own daughters, continuing on to her Granddaughters and their dolls! Grace's incredible and unwavering strength, her compassion for others, and her everlasting faith in God, are traits every human being should emulate.
Grace will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 52 years, Gene; daughters: Sherry Vander Velden (Karen Roaten), Fort Worth, TX and Barbara (Tom) Van Asten, Freedom; grandchildren: Carissa, Kelsie, Kayla and Carlie Van Asten; siblings: Claire (Tom) Verhagen, Tom (Mary) Bongers, Cynthia (Greg) Mathe and Patricia Bongers-DeGroot.; brother and sisters-in-law: Bonnie Vander Velden and Ken (Karen) Vander Velden; her Godchildren: Ron, Beth, Jolene, Nic and Caitlin. Marlene V. Friebel, "Pretty Momma 43", 67, Little Chute, went into God's loving arms, June 17, 2011, at St. Paul Home, Kaukauna.
Marlene was born on July 10, 1943, in Little Chute, daughter of Harold and Ethel (Bongers) Van Nuland. On June 3, 1964, Marlene was united in marriage to Lyle Friebel at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. Marlene had many jobs that she enjoyed greatly over the years, which include: Teaching classes for the Better Breathers Group and diabetes, providing therapy for Rheumatoid arthritis patients at St. Elizabeth Hospital (pool program), working for Curves of Little Chute and Kaukauna and driving school bus for Kobussen. In her free time, she enjoyed many years camping at Brady's Pine Grove Campground and several cottages throughout the years at Legend Lake, Long Lake and Mountain. She enjoyed playing cribbage, dominos and many card games with family and frequently with her lady friends. She enjoyed bowling, ceramics and playing bugle as a bugler for funerals. However, her greatest joy was being involved in all of her children and grandchildren's activities; including following her daughter and granddaughter and many race families for years on their motocross racing series.
In addition to her husband, Lyle, Marlene is also survived by her two children, Brian (Mindi) Friebel and Deana (special friend Dan Binder) Friebel; six grandchildren, Brandon (Krista) Friebel-Probst, Paige and Tanner "Red" Friebel, Tiffany (special friend Justin) Meyer, Stefanie Binder, and Michael (special friend Tiffany) Young; two great-grandchildren, Connor and McKenzie; three sisters, Elaine (Ron) Simpson, Donna Van Nuland and Judy (Rich) Leffel; two brothers-in-law, Ray Toonen and Merle (Donna) Friebel; three dogs, Freckles, Foxy and Fluffy; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Van Nuland, Donna Mae R.
Donna Mae Van Nuland, 64, Little Chute, went into the loving arms of our Lord on Thursday, June 23, 2011. Donna was born on November 12, 1946, to Harry and Ethel (Bongers) Van Nuland. Over the years, Donna has worked at Sandies Cleaners, Jack's or Better, Tuckers, and currently at Rich's Baker's Outlet. One of Donna's greatest loves was Elvis Presley.
Donna is survived by two sisters: Elaine (Ron) Simpson and Judy (Rich) Leffel; 2 brothers-in-law: Ray Toonen and Lyle Friebel; many nieces and nephews.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Roseanne Toonen and Marlene Friebel; a brother, Bob Van Nuland.
Private services were held at the family's request. A burial will be at a future date. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Donna's name; memorials may be forwarded to the Verkuilen Funeral Home, 101 Canal St., Little Chute, WI 54140.

Obituary:
Daniel A. Bongers, Little Chute, age 60, passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2012, surrounded by his family.
Dan was the oldest child of James "Jim" and Catherine "Kate" (Feldkamp) Bongers, born on June 25, 1952, in Appleton. He married Julie Schmidt on April 29, 1977, at St. Aloysius Parish in Kaukauna. He was a proud graduate of St. John High School (class of 1970) and Fox Valley Technical College. Dan retired from U.S. Oil Co., Inc. after 38 years, where he was President of U.S. Tire and Exhaust for 15 years.
Dan was an all-around great guy. He was a very creative, talented and patient man who could often be found tinkering in the garage, whether it was building, repairing, inventing, or teaching someone else a new skill. Extremely generous with his time and talents, Dan always looked for ways to help other people. He was a project manager for Rebuilding Together Fox Valley's Project Day for several years. The ultimate DIY handyman, he would fix anything for anyone, and he went out of his way to take care of others.
Dan made family and friends a priority. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with loved ones at the cottage on Lake Poygan. A member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, he had a strong faith, attending Mass every Sunday, and in recent years on Tuesdays in support of Terry Huiting. Together, Dan and Julie enjoyed many vacations with friends and family. He loved a good practical joke and had a great sense of humor. He was a caring son, thoughtful brother, loving husband, wonderful father, incredible papa and great friend.
Dan is survived by his wife of 35 years, Julie; children: Jacquelyn (Michael) Sharkey, Appleton; Michael Bongers, Menomonee Falls; and Gregory (Laurie) Bongers, Milwaukee; grandchildren: Ethan and Grace Sharkey; parents: Jim and Kate Bongers; sisters: Bonnie (Kevin) Bell and Mary Jo (Dave) Hermsen; father-in-law: Raymond (LaVerne) Schmidt; and sisters and brothers-in-law: Jane Kaufman, Albert (Shirley) Schmidt and Wallie (Amy) Schmidt. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Dan was preceded in death by Julie's mother, Carol "Tweet" (Zornow) Schmidt; and brother-in-law, Joe Kaufman.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 18, 2012, at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 S. Pine St., Little Chute) beginning at 12:00 Noon until time of Mass at 5:00 p.m. The Rev. John "Jack" Nackers, age 50, of Appleton, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, April 25, 2007. He was born March 30, 1957, to Albert "Boots" and Eileen (Deering) Nackers of Wrightstown. As a loving father and grandfather he will be sadly missed by Tony and Cara Nackers of Kimberly, Kyle Nackers of Kaukauna, Kurt Nackers of Seymour, Cassie Nackers of Kaukauna and her fiance Matt Sherman; a granddaughter Taylor; a sister, Nancy and Paul Vande Hei of Wrightstown; brothers: Jim and Deb Nackers of De Pere, Paul Nackers and Marcia of Pulaski; nieces and nephews: Tammy and Chad Weiss of De Pere, Amy and Dean Vande Hey of Wrightstown, Shaun Wall of Greenleaf, Katie Vande Hei of Wrightstown; and special friend Deb Zernicke of Bonduel. Jack is further survived by other family and friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his father, Albert "Boots" Nackers.

Obituary:
Gary Bongers, 76, of De Pere, passed away Saturday December 26, 2015 at a local hospital. The son of the late Gordon and Mary Alice (O'Connell) Bongers was born June 19, 1939 in Green Bay. He married Mary Bowman on August 27, 1971.
Gary was a 1958 graduate of West High School. He served twenty seven years on the Brown County Sheriff's Department and retired in 1994 with rank of Sergeant. He enjoyed all sports and remained active throughout his entire life, participating in golf, bowling, fishing, softball, and volleyball. Gary was extremely handy and passed his skills of fixing things along to his family. He could fix anything and if there was not a part available, he would manufacture it. He was a lifelong automobile and motorcycle enthusiast. Gary was a great Dad and loving, patient Grandfather "Papa". He and Mary enjoyed traveling and spending time in Florida.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, children and grandchildren, Jared and Erin Bongers, (Jackson and Alivia), Chip and Katie Bongers (Carley), Craig and Tonya Marks, (Morgann and Clay), Tim Bongers (Dylan), Bill and Jody Bongers (Alex), Rochelle Eisner (Bryce), Richard and Jill De Muth (Jason, Tyler and Tracey), one sister, Susan Williams, nieces and nephews, Kathy, Paul, John and Julie. He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Robert, Joseph, and La Verne,and brother-in-law, Dan Williams.
