Mrs. Katherine Hoskens, 68, 1103 Chicago St., died Friday night in a Green Bay hospital. She had been in failing health for some time and when her condition became serious Thursday she entered the hospital.
Mrs. Hoskens was born Dec. 15, 1884, in the town of Rockland, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Smits. Her husband, the late Joseph Hoskens, was one of the early breeders of registered Holstein cattle in Brown County. He died in 1934.
Survivors are four sons, Peter, Joseph, Louis, and Edward, all of De Pere; five daughters, Sister M. Lucinda, N.D., of Chicago, Mrs. Robert Verboort and Mrs. John Schmidt of De Pere, Mrs. Gene Kieffer of Milwaukee and Mrs. Thomas Rotzenberg of Hollandtown; 25 grandchildren ; four brothers, Michael, John, Louis, S.W. Smits, all of De Pere; and Frank of Los Angeles , Ca.; and one sister, Mrs Andrew Terrien of Green Bay.
Father Martin Vosbeek was celebrant of the 9:30 solemn requiem high Mass with Father L. A. V . DeCleene,O. Praem., as deacon and Father Arthur Hoell as sub-deacon. Cuene, Wilfred J. "Bill" Wilfred J. "Bill" Cuene, 93, De Pere, passed away Friday, July 9, 2004, at a local hospital. He was born Aug. 13, 1910, in De Pere, son of the late Frank and Hattie (Van Dyke) Cuene. He married Marion Noonan, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 24, 1998. He was owner/manager of Ralph's Tire Service and a Coast-to-Coast Store until his health forced him to slow down. He sold new and used cars for Broadway Chevrolet-Olds with his brother, Herb, for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time at his home in Suamico on the river and his home in De Pere on the Fox River, where he enjoyed fishing, boating, and gardening, and took great pride in his home and yard. After he retired he especially enjoyed woodworking in his garage. He truly loved his family. Wilfred was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in De Pere. Survivors include two daughters, Margaret "Peggy" McGuire, Green Bay; and Virginia "Ginny" and Pat Dwyer, Green Bay; two sons, Don and Evelyn Cuene, Green Bay; and William "Bill" and Kathy Cuene, De Pere; 19 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marion; son-in-law, Roland McGuire; two granddaughters, Judy and Karen Jean; six brothers, John, Joe, Herb, Leo, Norbert, and Hugo; and three sisters, Marie Bertrand, Agatha Burdon, and Anne Thompson. Family and friends may call Sunday, July 18, 2004, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere. Visitation will c ontinue on Monday, July 19, 2004, from 9 a.m. until the hour of Mass at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan Ave., De Pere. Ma ss of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at church, with the Rev. V. Anthony Dolski officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, De Pere. Agatha M. Roebke, 91, Wayside Parkview Estates, passed away Thursday, August 09, 2012, at Appleton Medical Center, following a short illness. She was born August 16, 1920 in the Town of Rockland, daughter to the late Martin and Marcella (Coenen) Hendricks. Agatha married Melvin Roebke, August 17, 1938, and he preceded her in death in 1994. She retired from Nabisco, where she had worked for many years. Agatha was a lifetime member of the Wrightstown American Legion Auxiliary, St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Ladies Aid, and she loved going to her cottage in Crivitz.
She will be deeply missed by her three children: Robert (Sue) Roebke, Kaukauna; Audrey Roebke, Hilbert; and Gary (Carolyn) Roebke, Oak Creek, WI; grandchildren: Brian Roebke, Carrie Roebke, Jason (Ayako) Roebke, Jerry Sweere and fiancé, Allyson, Lori (David) Schwalenberg, John (Nancy) Roebke, Timothy (Chris-Ann) Roebke, Jennifer (Mark) Lillge; great-grandchildren: Alec, Austin, and Aaron Schwalenberg, Lily and Chrissy Roebke, Jacob and Gracie Lillge, and Yuria Roebke; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Brenda Roebke; five brothers and two sisters.

Esther A. Boyer, 102, of Green Bay, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2017. She was born on November 11, 1914, in De Pere, to the late Theodore and Cecilia (Coenen) Cornelissen. Esther married Wilfred Boyer and had three children together. She enjoyed golf, was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and loved her family very much.
Esther is survived by her sons, Richard (Jean) Boyer, Robert (Special Friend Lynn Hager) Boyer and sister in law, Pat (Paul) Janowski. She is further survived by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and many other friends and family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred and a son, James Boyer.

Andrew (Andy) W. Albers, 97 died Friday February 22, 2013 at a local nursing home after a short illness. He was born January 3, 1916 in De Pere to the late Henry and Minnie (Coenen) Albers. On August 9, 1938 he married Orilla Geurts and spent 71 years together until Orilla's death in 2010. Andrew and Orilla farmed in rural Wrightstown until 1958 when they moved to Ashwaubenon where Andrew still resided. Andrew was employed by Consolidated Dairy until his retirement in 1986. For many years after continued to work part time at Nativity of Our Lord Parish as a custodian until 1989. Andrew continued his Catholic ministry in many ways at Nativity until 2006.
Andrew is survived by two children, Patricia (Thomas) Biskner, Howard and Arthur (Karla) Albers, West De Pere. He is further survived by six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Anne (Michael) Macco and children Andrew and Sophia, Joan (Grant W.) Wery and daughters Hayle and Emily, Krakow, Jon (Jennifer) Biskner and sons Brandon, Ayden, and Ashton, Howard, Mary (Robert)Bourin and children Emma, Abigail, and Bennett, Howard, James(Kendra) Albers and son Tate, Franksville, Wi, and Kevin Albers, San Francisco, Ca. He is also survived by two brothers and sister-in-laws, Ben (Lee) Albers, De Pere and Robert (Delores) Albers, Appleton, and sister in law Dorothy Wicker, West De Pere, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Andrew was preceded in death by his parents, sons John in 1949, Arnold in 1950, grandson Andrew Albers in 1980, and sisters Patricia (in infancy) and Bernice Albers. Louis P. Coenen, 89, De Pere, went to eternal rest on Wednesday, June 28, 2006. Born to the late Frank and Lena (Albers) Coenen on July 17, 1916, Louis lived in De Pere, his entire life. Louis served his country in World War II in the U.S. Army stationed in Europe. He married Mildred Derouin June 1, 1946. Louis worked as a butcher at Armour Foods for 42 years and also at Jacobs Grocery Store. He was an avid fisherman and hunter with many years spent at the "Diamond C" cabin in Pelican Lake, Wis. After his retirement in 1978, Louis and Millie traveled extensively.
Survivors include wife, Mildred; three daughters and families, Lynn (Chuck) Leininger, children, Brook (friend, Drew) and Brittney (fiance, Tony); Vicki (Bob) Heuvelmans, children, Justin, Casey, and Whitney; Beckie (Jim) Rottier. Louis is further survived by brothers, Herb (Beattie) Coenen, Francis (Fritz) Coenen, and Clarence Coenen; sisters, Helen (Norb) Achten and Rosemary (Joe) Bartels.
He was preceded in death by sisters and brothers-in-law, Agatha (Leo) Albers, Carol (Ray) Lisch; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Coenen and Fran Coenen; brother-in-law Gerald Bloemer.
Louie spent countless hours volunteering for the VFW, De Pere Men's Club, and Our Lady of Lourdes. His entire life was spent enjoying his family and many friends.

Florence D. Boyea, 84, De Pere, went to eternal rest on Thursday, June 9, 2005. Florence was born to the late Frank and Lena (Albers) Coenen on Aug. 16, 1920, and live in the De Pere area her entire life. She married the late Steven (Sam) Boyea on June 27, 1946, at St. Boniface Church in De Pere. He preceded her in death Feb. 12, 1988. Sam and Florence farmed in the Town of Lawrence from 1946 to 1956. They then moved into the City of De Pere close to V.F.W. Park. Florence worked at West De Pere High School in the Custodial Department for 25 years.
Her interests included attending daily Mass at Old St. Joseph Church, gardening, playing softball and volleyball years ago and bowling. Florence bowled in her league two days before her illness. Florence was very active in volunteer work, including refunding at St. Boniface Church and working for funeral dinners at St. Boniface and Our Lady of Lourdes Church for many years.
Survivors include her two sons, David and his special friend, Janice Loehlein and Steve and Julie Boyea and their two children, Brian and Kelsey; Florence's daughter, Barbara (James) Heuvelmans and her son, Tom O'Connell Jr. Florence is also survived by one great-grandson, Ryan O'Connell. Herbert Coenen, 88, De Pere died peacefully with his family by his side on Monday night, October 18, 2010 at a local nursing home. Herb was born on November 10, 1921 in De Pere to Frank and Lena (Albers) Coenen. On January 6, 1947 he married the former Beatrice Gerarden the love of his life. He served his country for five and a half years as a paratrooper during World War II in the South Pacific. He volunteered for the first Army experimental paratroop unit while it was still in its infancy. Herbert worked for Nicolet Paper Company from 1945 until his retirement in 1983. He will be remembered for great things, especially for how much he loved his whole family. Herb was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Parish.
Herbert is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Beatrice; their children: Gary H. (Bev) Coenen, Suamico; Ron (Judy) Coenen, De Pere; Dawn (Joie) Kampen, De Pere; son in law, Jim Lasee, Bellingham, WA; brothers Fritz and Clarence Coenen; sisters; Helen (Norb) Achten, Rosemary (Joe) Bartels; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Gerarden, Hazel Van De Ven, Margaret Forsythe, and Millie Coenen. Francis "Fritz" Coenen, 89, of De Pere, died unexpectedly on All Saints Day, Thursday November 1, 2012 at home. The son of the late Frank and Lena (Albers) Coenen was born August 14, 1923 in De Pere. On April 27, 1946, he married the former Eleanor Van De Ven at St. Boniface Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on July 21, 2004. Fritz proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as an MP from 1943 to 1946.
Fritz worked at DePere Progressive Farmers Co-op (now AgriPartners) for many years. He was an active member of the community and volunteered his time, talent and treasure to many worthy causes. He was a member and Past Officer of De Pere VFW Post 2113. Fritz loved playing cards enjoyed a good pool game in his earlier years. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Howard H. Vissers, 89, De Pere, passed away Oct. 17, 2011. Son of the late Martin and Nellie (Coenen) Vissers was born Dec. 22, 1921, in De Pere. He served his country during World War II in the Marine Corps, Pacific Theater.
Howard married Marilyn R. Vander Zanden on Jan. 9, 1946, at St. Mary Catholic Church, De Pere. He worked for the Wisconsin Telephone Co. for 37 years retiring in 1984. He was a member of Telephone Pioneers, member and Past President of the De Pere Men's Club, and was an active volunteer in the community for many years.

Kenneth H. Vissers, 75, De Pere, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at a local hospital.
He was born on Dec. 19, 1936, to the late Martin and Nellie (Coenen) Vissers. He attended St. Mary's Grade School and graduated from De Pere High School in June, 1955. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army and was sent to Ft. Knox, Ky., for training. He served his country as a tank mechanic, and after spending time in Germany, was discharged in June, 1958.
On Nov. 10, 1967, his life changed forever. Ken was severely injured while working in a paper machine at Nicolet Paper Company. He was paralyzed from the chest down and confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. He was treated for his injuries at St. Vincent Hospital for three and a half months. He then transferred to Craig Rehabilitation Hospital near Denver, where he learned how to cope with the daily challenges of being a paraplegic. Nine months after this injury, he returned to work at Nicolet as a maintenance scheduler, a position created for him. He was a productive and loyal employee and retired at age 65 in 2001.
In his youth, Ken enjoyed playing football and basketball. He loved following the Packers, spending time on his computer (we will all miss his e-mails), and playing cards. He looked forward to the weekly visits from friends and relatives to play cribbage. Ken was a member of the De Pere Men's Club and enjoyed socializing with other members.
On March 24, 1970, he married Anne C. DeTennis at St. Mary's Church in De Pere. She preceded him in death on Feb. 28, 2007. Throughout their 37 years of marriage, Ken's primary caregiver was his devoted and loving wife. Since Anne's death four years ago, Ken's determination to remain independent was a source of pride and an inspiration to all who knew him.
He is survived by his brothers, Howard and his wife. Marilyn Vissers, De Pere; Don and his wife, Ann Vissers, Bellevue and the Villages, Fla.; and his sister, Betty Clancy, Greenleaf. Further survived by brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary and Kaye Jadin, Green Bay; and brother-in-law, John Kautzer, De Pere; many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Harold; sister, Dorothy and her husband, Hank Gerke; brother-in-law, Jim Clancy. Also by brothers-in-law, Darold DeTennis and Paul DeTennis; and sisters-in-law, Faye DeTennis Kautzer and Patricia Rose DeTennis.
Ken was fortunate to have wonderful neighbors, Vern and Sue, Bob and Marie, Joe and Karen, John and Debbie, always willing to help when needed.
Family and friends called on Saturday, March 19, 2011, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Community, Pope John the XXIII Circle, off Sportsman Drive, Town of Ledgeview. Oswald "Ossie" Smits, age 94, of 609N Intake Park Road, Manistique, Michigan died April 10, 2007 at the Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital in Manistique.
He was born Jne 3, 1912 in De Pere, Wisconsin the son of Martin and Louise (Van Dyck) Smits and attended school there.
In 1934 he moved to Manistique with his cousin Ray Van Dyck to start a grocery business. In 1936, Ray left to go back to De Pere, and Ossie went on his own.
In 1936, Ossie married the former Olive Peters in Rudolf, Wisconsin. The marriage was performed by her uncle, the Rev. Francis Peters. Ossie owned and operated Smitty's IGA in Manistique for 35 years until his retirement. Ossie and Olive then spent their summer months in Manistique and their winter months at their home in Bonita Springs, Florida. Olive preceded Ossie in death on May 3, 1995 after 59 years of marriage.
Ossie was a faithful member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Manistique, and was also a member of the Manistique Elks Lodge #632, the Indian Lake Golf and Country Club and the Knights of Columbus - Donald E. Messler Fourth Degree Assembly #502 of Manistique.
Following retirement, he found a hobby of making cabinets and Grandfather clocks as gifts to the special people in his life. He also enjoyed playing cards, golfing, and was loved by all.
Ossie was preceded in death by his five children: a son Gerald Joseph, in 1938; a baby girl in 1946; his daughter, Jeanne DePetro; his son, Robert Smits; and his daughter, Joanne Holmberg; all in 2005.
He is survived by his grandchildren: Palmer DePetro, Dean DePetro, Sandra Rose, William DePetro, Shad Holmberg, Tori Henry, Donna Bailey, Scott Holmberg, Robin Mackintosh, Lori Cooper, Cherl Gerold and Kurt Smits; 14 great grandchildren; his brother, Raymond "Bud" Smits; and his sisters, Stella De Groot and Margaret Reince; along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, wife, wife and children, he was preceded in death by sisters, Joan Everts, Angie Schumerth, Florence VanErmen, Eloise Zirbel and Marion Smits.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 am-11:30 am, Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at St. Francis de Sales Church in Manistique. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 am, at the church with Father Glenn Theoret officiating.
Burial will be held in the Fairview Cemetery at Manistique.
Memorial donations may be directed to the St. Francis de Sales Church of Manistique.

Stella Marie De Groot, daughter of the late Martin & Louise (Van Dyck) Smits, was born in De Pere, December 17, 1913, and lived in this area most of her life. The former Stella Smits and John De Groot were married in St. Mary Catholic Church, De Pere, May 27, 1935. He preceded her in death on December 18, 1986. Stella was a member of St. Mary Christian Ladies, St. Mary Quilters, and Meals on Wheels.
Stella and husband John were well known in the bowling circle taking many honors. Stella took high single game in the City Tournament in 1958 and many first place trophies. Stella and John loved camping and spending time with their many friends at Berry Lake.
She is survived by two children: Wayne (Carol) De Groot and Kathy Smits; four grandchildren and spouses: Scott and Sue De Groot, Julie and Jerry Brockway, Todd and Rene Smits, and Kristina and Chad Olsen; eight great-grandchildren: Alex Brockway; Kieran and Samantha De Groot; Noah and Cameron Smits; and Kaitlyn, Marissa and Conner Olsen; a sister, Margaret Reince; a very dear friend, Lois Le Duc; and many dear nieces, nephews, and extended family of Brian, Todd, Jon, Renata and Julie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters: Joan Evearts, Angie Schumerth, Florence Van Ermen, Eloise Zirbel, and Marion Smits; two brothers: Ossie Smits and Raymond "Bud" Smits; son-in-law, Neil F. Leona Krueger, 100, De Pere, died early Friday morning, Dec. 11, 2009. The daughter of the late John and Annie (Schampers) Smits was born Nov. 2, 1909. She was a lifelong resident of De Pere.
On Nov. 26, 1933, she married Irvin Krueger at St. Boniface Church, De Pere, WI. He preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1959. Leona worked for St. Norbert College in the Sensenbrenner Memorial Union for 35 years, retiring in May 1993. She enjoyed playing cards with her many friends and also bingo.
Survivors include two sons Gerald and Robert (Julie), one daughter, Jean (Chuck) Ritz, two grandchildren Curt (Kathy) Ritz and Michelle (jeremy) Harnish, and six great-grandchildren, Abigail, Joshua, Jason, Charles, Miles, Jeremyah. Leona is further survived by brother-in-law Elton Krueger and by many nieces and nephews.

She was born March 2, 1911, in De Pere to the late John and Ann (Schampers) Smits. She married Tony Minten at St. Boniface Catholic Church in De Pere. Regina retired from Milprint in 1976. She enjoyed playing Bridge and had belonged to several different Bridge clubs. Regina was a member of the St. Boniface Christian Mothers and the De Pere Women's Club. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family.

Omer L. Smits, 86, of Town of Rockland, passed away in De Pere on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. He was born January 5, 1927 in De Pere, a son of the late Louis and Elizabeth (Hendricks) Smits. On December 29, 1992 in Escanaba, MI he married the former Patricia Diener.
Omer was a member of the De Pere Men's Club, St. Mary Catholic Community Church, St. Mary Home School Association, and a 4-H Chairman of Leaders. He also was on the Brown County Drainage Board for 32 years, the Town Chairman of Rockland, and a school bus driver in East De Pere for over 30 years. Omer enjoyed his time with gardening, working at flea markets and hickory trees and their nuts.
Omer is survived by his wife Patricia Smits; 11 children: Diane Fonder, Gary Smits, Dave (Mary) Smits, Dan (Jan) Smits, Sue (Jae) Houtman, Steven (Lynn) Smits, Barb (Tracy) Meyer, Mike (Patti) Smits, Kevin (Michelle) Smits, Rick (Elaine) Smits, and Lisa (Tom) Wojcichowski; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; step sons Bill (Patti) Ruggles and Mike (Liz) Ruggles, and siblings: Richard Smits, Delores Novacheck, and LuAnn (Gene) Vandenberg. On Sunday, January 31, 2016, Donald Eugene Cuene, son of Marion (Noonan) and Wilfred "Bill" Cuene, embarked on his last journey. He was born on May 4, 1927 and spent the majority of his life in Green Bay. Don attended Central Catholic High School, Class of 1945, but left to join the Navy, serving in the amphibious forces in the Pacific Theater during World War II. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Green Bay in June, 1946, met and married Evelyn Brunette and they've been together for 68 years.
Don loved airplanes and flying, and soloed at age 16. He attended Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, OK, but circumstances brought him back to Green Bay in 1948. Don was a member of the Air Force Reserve and served a year at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, OK during the Korean Conflict. Returning to Green Bay, he joined the Green Bay Police Department in November, 1951 and served 34 ½ years as a police officer. He retired from the department as Chief in 1985.
Don enjoyed challenges and learning. He was an accomplished pilot, sailor, photographer, and target shooter. Don and Evie were world travelers, first in their RV and, after wearing it out, continued with cruises and tours. He loved his computer and was on his fifth one. Don also loved music, especially contemporary jazz. He was one of the founding members of the Windjammers Sailing Club, racing the "Light Breeze" with son, Tom, and cruising the Bay and upper areas of the Great Lakes with his family. Don was instrumental in establishing a rifle and pistol range at the De Pere Sportsman's Club. He belonged to the Brown County Sportsman's Club and the Nicolet Rifle Club.
Work-wise, Don was active with the Green Bay Police Benevolent for many years served on the Governor's Retirement Study Commission and was on the board of directors of the Wisconsin Police Benevolent Association, serving a term as President. He, along with a few other police target shooters, formed the Fox Valley Pistol Club and held competitions at cities throughout the region. As juvenile Police Captain, he brought the School Liaison Program to Green Bay. On July 7, 1977, Don was sworn in as Chief of the Green Bay Police Department. He loved the department and all of his officers and staff.
Don is survived by his wife, Evie and their three children, Tom (Carol), Pam (Mike) Baeten and Frank. He is also survived by two wonderful grandsons: Justin (Stefanie) Cuene, Arizona; and Tristan Cuene (friend, Laura), Colorado; two darling great-grandchildren, Sofia and Miles, Arizona; his brother, William "Bill"; brother-in-law, Patrick Dwyer; Evie's sister-in-law, Norma Brunette, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, parents-in-law, Clarence and Irene Brunette; two sisters, Margaret "Peggy" McGuire and Virginia "Ginny" Dwyer; brother-in-law, Rollie McGuire; sister-in-law, Kathy Cuene; Evie's two brothers, Bob and Duke Brunette, with whom he had a very close relationship; and two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Brunette and Marion VanderMissen.
Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 4. A Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Margaret C. "Peggy" McGuire, 85, Green Bay, died peacefully on Friday, October 16, 2015. She was born on December 20, 1929, in Green Bay to Mae and Wilfred Cuene. On September 29, 1948, she married Roland P. "Mac" McGuire at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Green Bay. They had six children. Mac preceded her in death on March 9, 1996.
Peggy loved spending time at the family cottage in Athelstane. She was particularly proud of the fact that she and Dad built the cottage. We all have many happy memories of family and friend time spent there. Everyone who came burned their name above the fireplace.
Peggy's hobbies included her keeping up her yard and the many different flowers that she planted. She loved her backyard pond given to her by her boys. Peggy belonged to the same bridge group for over 20 years, and was a proud hockey mom who spent many years taking care of the youth hockey concession stand.
Peggy is survived by her children: Sharon (Tom) Lutsey, Egg Harbor; Mike McGuire, Waukesha; Maureen Landry and her friend, Ted, Green Bay; Tim (Lynn) McGuire, Townsend; Dave McGuire and his friend, Cindy, Green Bay; and Ted (Sara) McGuire, Green Bay; 15 grandchildren, Matt, Nicholas, Jeffrey, Andrew, Ben, Missy, Jason, Adam, Chad, Eric, Abbie, Justin, Emily, Marc, and Lindsey; five great-grandchildren, Daniel, Tristin, Henry, Simon, and Alexander; her brothers, Bill Cuene, and Don (Evie) Cuene; brother-in-law, Patrick Dwyer; and many nieces and nephews.

GREEN BAY - Germaine "Gerry" M. Coppens, 92, Green Bay passed away on July 19. She was born in Green Bay on June 10, 1926 to the late Marie Hendricks. Gerry graduated as Valedictorian from Wrightstown High School in 1944. At the age of 14, she met the love of her life, Royce Coppens. They were later married at St. John the Baptist Church in Howard on September 9, 1948.
In her early years, Gerry was employed in the offices of H.C. Prange Co. and Kraft Foods. Later, along with her daughter, Cathy, she co-owned Family Affair Maternity Fashions in both Appleton and Green Bay.
Together with Royce, she lovingly raised four children, providing special care and support for the family she treasured. She enjoyed many adventures, traveling, and camping throughout the country. She especially cherished her time with Royce in northern Wisconsin, Door County, and later, Florida. Among her many virtues, she will always be remembered for her cheerful, positive nature, and witty sense of humor!
She was preceded in death by husband Royce in 1995, mother Marie, and step-father Lester Williquette, sister, June Blake; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Josephine and Henry Coppens; brother-in-law, Merle Knaus; sisters-in-law, Donna Williquette and Pat Williquette.

Dick (Tricky Dick) Van Den Heuvel, 83, Green Bay, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at his home. He was born February 18, 1934, in Green Bay, son of the late Peter and Mary (Peeters) Van Den Heuvel. Dick married Joyce Ducat in May 14, 1955, and she preceded him in death on February 7, 2016.
Dick owned and operated Tricky Dick's Tavern for 22 years and Tricky Dick's Specialties up until he passed away. In his early years, he worked for John Brick as Foreman of the feed mill in Wrightstown and Bellevue, and as a salesman for Fuller Brush and Combined Insurance. He was a member of the Tavern League of Wisconsin and Brown County for over 35 years, and belonged to the Catholic Order of Foresters for over 70 years. Dick was also active with the Eagles Club and Moose Lodge. He enjoyed playing cards, cribbage, betting on football games, and Pabst Blue Ribbon.

Vanden Elzen, JimJim Vanden Elzen, 68 years old, a longtime resident of the Village of Howa rd died early Sunday morning, November 7, 2004 surrounded by his loving fa mily after a courageous battle with cancer. Jim served in the U. S. Navy S eabees as a Builder First Class. On September 17, 1960, he married Jean Br unette at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Duck Creek. Jim was a se lf-employed carpenter for most of his life. He was an active Volunteer f or St. Vincent De Paul. He loved fishing, camping, traveling and helping o thers. But, nothing meant more to Jim than his family, especially his gran dchildren!He is survived by his wife, Jean; his three children and their spouses, Ci ndi and Mike Gerrits, Suamico; Tina and John Bryson, Plainfield, Ill; Lan ce and Ann Vanden Elzen, “Next Door”; his four grandchildren, Josh, Alain a, Ethan, Abby; two sisters, Bernice Lovesee and Helen Kulhanek; a broth er and sister in law, Ed and Anita Vanden Elzen; a sister in law, Bernadet te Vanden Elzen; and many nieces and nephews.Jim was preceded in death by a daughter, Pam; a brother, Bob and a siste r, Jean.Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave. from 4 - 8 p. m. Sandy K. (Coenen) Milquet, passed away Tuesday evening June 6, 2017 at home. She was born August 16, 1949 to the late Fritz and Eleanor (Vande Ven) Coenen. Sandy was united in marriage to Donald "Fuzz" Milquet. She was a graduate of West De Pere High School and then went onto Beauty School. Sandy spent most of her career working at De Pere Beauty Shop, which she eventually owned and ran until retirement. She had a big heart, great sense of humor, and a fun-loving spirit that could not be beat.
Sandy is survived by her siblings; Rick (Rosa) Coenen, Sue (Dennis) Boettcher, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Fuzz in 2013 as well as her parents.

Jeanne A. DePetro, 65, of 1903 Center Street, Marquette, entered eternal life Thursday morning, April 7, 2005, at her home, following a six month struggle with cancer. Jeanne died in the comfortable care of her family and the caregvers of Lake Superior Hospice.
Born March 14, 1940 in Manistique, a daughter of Ossie and Olive (Peters) Smits, Jeanne was raised in Manistique and was a 1958 graduate of the Manistique High School. She later attended Northern Michigan University receiving certification as a licensed practical nurse. Jeanne was employed at Marquette General Hospital for 18 years as an LPN, retiring in December 2002. Jeanne enjoyed life to the fullest and spent her retirement years living in Florida in the winters and Marquette in the summers, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She was also an avid sports fan and Packer fanatic. She loved to watch her children, and later her grandchildren, play hockey and baseball. A lover of the great outdoors, Jeanne enjoyed swimming, fishing, and hunting. Jeanne had a zest for life and was loved by all who knew her. Jeanne was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.
A loving wife, mother, devoted grandparent, and sister, she is survived by her husband, Palmer J. "Pickles" DePetro Jr. whom she married on April 23, 1960, a daughter, Sandra (Martin) Rose of Marquette; three sons, Palmer G. "Pete" DePetro of Denver, CO, Dean DePetro, of Tampa, FL, and William (Cindi) DePetro of Marquette; her grandchildren, Palmer "P.J." DePetro, Chad Rose, Brant Rose, Nicholas Maki, Misty Rose, and Kristie Bawden; father, Ossie Smits of Manistique; her twin sister, Joan Holmberg, of Manistique; and several nieces and nephews. Jeanne was preceded in death by her mother, Olive Smits; her brother, Robert Smits; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Palmer and Margie DePetro Sr; and brother-in-law, Donald Holmberg.
Friends may call at St. Michael Catholic Church on Monday, April 11, beginning at 4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 6:00 p.m. Monday evening in the church with Rev. Msgr. Joanne was born in Manistique, Michigan the daughter of Ossie and Olive (Peters) Smits and was a graduate of Manistique High School.
On November 25, 1960 the former Joanne M. Smits married Donald Holmberg in Manistique and they lived in the Manistique area until they moved to Pennsylvania in 1978. They returned to Manistique in 1994. Don preceded her in death on Dec. 13, 2004.
Joanne was employed at the J.C. Penney store in Manistique, and worked at the Lutheran Home and at Deka Battery while living in Pennsylvania.
She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church in Manistique and was a former member of the Manistique Elkettes. She enjoyed playing volleyball, softball and bowling, but especially enjoyed the time she spent with family and friends.
Joanne is survived by her sons, Shad (Barb) Holmberg of Cooks and Scott (Lisa) Holmberg of Gulliver; daughters, Tori J. Henry of Manistique and Dona (Tim) Bailey of Kempton, PA; nine grandchildren; and her father, Ossie Smits of Manistique. She was preceded in death by her mother, Olive, her husband, Donald; her twin sister, Jeanne DePetro; and her brother, Robert Smits.

Gerald "Jerry" Krueger, 76, West De Pere, died Saturday, November 7, 2015 at a local hospital. Jerry was born in West De Pere on April 12, 1939 a son of the late Irvin and Leona (Smits) Krueger. He was a graduate of Nicolet High School. Jerry worked for and proudly retired from the city of De Pere in the Street Department. He was a great jokester with his goofy pranks, enjoyed bowling and golfing, and he really loved his local cruising in the 1956 T-Bird. Jerry is survived by his sister Jean Ritz of Ashwaubenon; brother Robert (Julie) Krueger of Hobart; nephew Kurt (Kathy) Ritz of Texas; niece Michele (Jeremy) Harnish of California; 8 grandnieces and grandnephews; cousins; and Jerry's second family: Hank (Mary) Secor and their children Dave, Kim, and Jim. Robert R. Van Lanen, 53, Waupaca, formerly of De Pere, passed away unexpec tedly Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at his home. He was born October 25, 19 51 in Green Bay, son of Arthur and Mildred (Smits) Van Lanen. Robert w as a semi-driver for 18 years for Millis Transfer in Black River Falls, W I. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, and enjoy ed riding his Harley Davidson and doing farm work. Survivors include his mother, Mildred Van Lanen, Omro; very special frien d, Kathy Verbanac, Waupaca; four daughters: Tracy (Tony) Junk, Door Count y; Jodi (Tim) Miller, Shawano; Trisha Van Lanen, South Dakota; and Keri (f iance Nick Bonney) Van Lanen, Woodland; four grandchildren: Brittany, Carl y, Zachary (Goober), and Haylee; a sister, Linda Gomach, Oshkosh; two niec es, Sara and Eve; and a nephew, Luke.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Arthur. Family and friends may call Sunday, January 2, 2005 from 3 p.m. to 7 p. m. at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere. Mrs. William (Janice Ann) Bernetzke, age 49, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, October 12, 2008. She was born June 5, 1959, to Ken and Lucille Hendricks. She was united in marriage to William Bernetzke. Jan loved working for several years at the West De Pere lunch program. She really enjoyed serving the students and working with friends.
Jan is survived by her parents: Ken and Lucille, her husband, William, her children: Beth, Bill and Paul, her brother, Richard (Julie) Hendricks, three sisters: Brenda (Lee) Kazik, Debbie Hammer, and Tammy (Jeff) DeBauche. She is further survived by her sisters-in-law: Alice (Vern) Heuvelmans, Frieda Paape, Lois Flur, Betty (James) Peot and Linda Harvey. Her brother-in-law, Tom (Janet) Breunig, as well as her nieces and nephews: Vickey, Theresa, Linda, Joyce, Becky, Debbie, Annette, Brenda, Katrina, Stacey, Jenna (Godchild), Bob, Howard, John, Richard (Godchild), Tyler, Erik, Dylan, Andy (Godchild), and Matt further survive.

Daniel Henry Van Deurzen
Daniel H. Van Deurzen, 38, Hilbert, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2014, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born September 15, 1976, son of Don and Evelyn (Brantmeier) Van Deurzen. On September 19, 1998, Dan was united in marriage to his sweetheart, Nicole Van Dyn Hoven. He has worked as a farmer for most of his life, and worked at Lamers Dairy as a milk truck driver for several years. Dan was a member and trustee at Lighthouse Church in Kaukauna. He didn't have a lot of personal hobbies because, all in all, Nikki and the children were his hobbies.
Dan is survived by his loving wife, Nicole; his five precious children: Abraham (14), Isaac (12), Nathanael (10), Uriah (7), and Ruth (4); his parents, Don and Evelyn; siblings: Rosann (Jack) Dax, Dave (Diane), Mike (Julie), Pete (Nicki), Theresa (Jon) Baroun, Vicki, and Beth (Andy) De Bruin; mother-in-law, Marcie Rosin; father-in-law, Gerald Van Dyn Hoven; brother-in-law, Eric Van Dyn Hoven; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Dan was preceded in death by his grandparents; his brothers: Richard and Steve; a niece, Laura.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at the Verkuilen Funeral Home, 101 Canal Street, Little Chute, with Pastor Michael West officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday, October 11, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will continue on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Baby Selena A. Hendricks, 1 month, Little Chute, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton. Selena was born on April 27, 2012, in Appleton, daughter of Amy Lynn Hendricks. She was a very strong willed baby who had a big smile that would light up her whole face.
In addition to her mother Amy of Little Chute, Selena is also lovingly survived by her grandparents: Robert and Barbara Hendricks, Little Chute; an aunt: Ann Hendricks, Appleton; an uncle: Adam Hendricks, Little Chute; and many other relatives and friends.
Selena was preceded in death by her great grandparents: Orville and Mary Schommer and Regina and Ed Hendricks.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 4, 2012, at St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. A memorial has been established in Selena's name.
