Mrs. Dora Vandenberg 355 S.-Main St, Seymour, Wis. age 80, passed away Wednesday at 2-30 a-m after a long illness. She was born September 12, 1881 in freedom, Wis. Mrs. Vanden- berg was the daughter of the late John Liesch and Barbara Didde- rich. On Sept. 17. 1901, She was married to George Vandenberg in Freedom, Wis. After their mar- riage the couple operated a farm in the township of Freedom until moving to Seymour in 1920 where Mr. Vandenberg operated the Ford Agency until his death in 1929. Mrs. Vandenberg was a member of the Christian Mother's Alter Society of St John's Catholic Church. Survivors are one son William J., Green Bay, four daughters, Mrs. (Barbara) Percy Ellis, and Mrs. (Virginia) Thomas c Duffey, both of Green Bay, Mrs. Erwin (Dorothy) Haberman, and Mrs. Arnold (Lorraine) Lefevre. One daughter Mrs. Willis (Gene- vive) Dyer preceded her in death, 6 grandchildren and 11 great grand- children. Three sisters Mrs John L Jabas, Mrs. Joseph McCormich and Mrs. Joseph Van Dyke, all of Appleton. Remmel, Mrs. Milton Grace J. Remmel
In the summer of 1905, a child was born to John and Mary Jabas; with 5 loving brothers, Grace Julia was the only girl. Grace attended two years at Lawrence and left her studies to care for her Mother. It was at this interval she met a Marquette student named Milton Remmel, to whom she was married for 62 years. The couple spent their entire married life in Neenah and Grace then spent four years in Renaissance Assisted Living in Appleton, a most loving community.
Her infinite wisdom was shared with whoever asked. She truly cared and empathized. Her capacity to love was never attained. She was blessed with a phenomenal memory and ability to contemplate. About three weeks ago she requested details about Sarah Palin!
She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and attended St. Patrick's church for 78 years.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband Milton, her five brothers, her daughter, Mary Faith Smith Bagos and son-in-law, Dennis Herrling.
Grace and Milton had three children: Mary (Jack) Smith Bagos, Nora Herrling, Appleton, and Barry (Margo) Remmel, Silver City, NM.
Grandchildren are Julie Smith, Tucson, AZ, Barry Smith, Flagstaff, AZ, Marcia (Eddie) Nicholson, Phoenix, AZ, Brian Smith, Detroit, MI, Stuart (Moose) Smith, London, England. Kevin (Pam) Herrling, Appleton; Stacia (Sean) White, Kimberly; Faith Herrling, Appleton; Kristin Remmel and Cary Remmel, Green Bay. Great-grandchildren include John (Casey) Sankey, Travis Smith, Tulah and Blake Smith, Aaron and Austin Herrling, Alicia (Mike) Vande Ven, Brady and Logan Remmel. Great-great-grandchildren include Caroline and Evan Sankey. She is further survived by cousins, nephews and special friends too numerous to name but equally as important in her life.
Grace was intrinsically aware of each friend who shared with her by phone, visits or notes. She found joy in her world by hugging and being hugged, loving and being loved; and she lived each day with the connotation her name implies ... and so will we.
We are grateful to The Renaissance staff for their ability to know Grace's needs, feel her love and respond with their own. The support, frequent hugs and professional confidence shall never be forgotten. We thank Erin and Karen of Hospice.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 10, 2008, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 324 Nicolet Boulevard, Menasha, with Fr. Larry Canavera officiating. Fellowship will immediately follow. Entombment will be in a local cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 9 a.m. Monday until the time of the mass. Lillian L. Kortz, Freedom, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family at the age of 92. Lillian was born April 11, 1914, to the late William and Barbara (Liesch) Carney in Freedom. She married Herman Kortz on Nov. 26, 1936. He preceded her in death August 8, 1964. Lillian lived and farmed in the Town of Freedom all her life. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers Society and a past member of the Freedom Golden Agers. Lillian enjoyed her flowers, African violets and gardening. She also enjoyed embroidery and loved to play Sheepshead. She enjoyed all of her grandchildren and her great grandchildren.
Lilllian is survived by six children: Bonnie (Jerry Thomson) Le Noble of Little Chute; Leroy and Glenn Kortz of Freedom; Mary Ellen (Dick) Heindl of Freedom; Gary (Lois) Kortz of Freedom; and Barbara (Tom) Braun of Appleton; thirteen grandchildren: Mike and Todd (Robin) Le Noble; Jean (Steve) Lenz; Tim (special friend Kim), Jeff, Brian (special friend Annie) and Jason (special friend Ashley) Heindl; Joe (Robyn), Chad (Lisa) and Greg (special friend Bonnie) Kortz; Jeremy (Christine), Andrew and Laura (special friend Dan) Braun; and ten great grandchildren: Robin, Jennifer, Trask, Riker, Matt, Marty, Morgan, Cole, Blake and Chloe; further survived by nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Herman; her parents: William and Barbara Carney; father and mother-in-law: George and Helene Kortz; a son-in-law, Francis "Chesty" Le Noble; a great grandson, Liam Kortz; a brother, Willard (Lorraine) Carney; five sisters: Ceil (Albert) Huss, Marie (Matt) Daul, Leona (Edwin) Brochtrup, Margie (Ed) Van De Loo, and infant sister Grace; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Marie (William) Geurts, Bertha (John) Van Deraa, Loretta (Norbert) Coenen and Ted (Blanche) Kortz.
The Funeral Mass will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday Oct. 16, 2006, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom. Her nephew, Rev. Willard Van De Loo will be the celebrant with Deacon Don Newhouse assisting. The family will receive friends after 10:00 a.m. Monday until the time of Mass directly at church. Committal St. Nicholas Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
The family wishes to thank Theda Care at Home Hospice for the loving care they provided Mom during her final days and her friend Marge Randerson.

Landwehr, Virginia H. (Duffey)Virginia H. (Duffey) Landwehr, age 97, Seymour, passed away early Friday m orning, July 4, 2003 at her home. She was born May 19, 1906 in Freedom, t he daughter of the late George and Dora (Leisch) Vandenberg. Virginia w as united in marriage to Thomas W. Duffey in 1925. He preceded her in dea th in 1974. On August 24, 1979 she was united in marriage to Thomas Landwe hr, Sr. in Seymour. He preceded her in death Jan. 17, 1998. She was a memb er of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Seymour and a member of the Ch ristian Mothers, and sang in the church choir for many years. She was a me mber of the Seymourettes Homemakers and the Womans Club. Virginia was an a vid gardener and received a correspondence degree in Horticulture lat er in her life.She is survived by her sons, Thomas (Ann) Duffey, Seymour; Patrick (Joa n) Duffey, Virginia; ten grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 1 grea t-great grandchild. She is further survived by a special nephew, Jon (Shar on) Dyer, Miami; and their two sons, her step-children: T.J. McCormick, John R.John R. McCormick, age 91, of Shawano, died Thursday, April 7, 2005 at Map le Lane Health Care Center. John was born on March 16, 1914 in Freedom, s on of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Leisch) McCormick. After graduatio n, John worked for the Itogon Mining Company, a gold mine in the Philippin es. On July 16, 1938 he was united in marriage to his childhood sweethea rt Catherine Murphy in Freedom. John worked for the Freedom and New Lond on High Schools where he was a teacher, basketball coach and boxing coac h. John later served in the United States Army during World War II as a Fi rst Lieutenant. John and Kate later owned and operated Murphy’s Sand and G ravel in Bonduel until his retirement. After retiring John earned his degr ee as a Guidance Counselor and became an University of Wisconsin Extensi on Resource Agent for Shawano County. During that time he received the Out standing Extension Agent in Wisconsin Award and twelve years later retir ed with the rank of Assistant Professor.John was instrumental in bring the Aarrowcast Company to Shawano and serv ed as its first Personal Manager and on the board. He was a member of t he Shawano County Board, was a chairman of the City of Shawano Senior Citi zens Commission, a member and chair on the Unified Health Services Boar d, and commissioner of the East Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commis sion. Mr. McCormick was instrumental in the City of Shawano Industrial Dev elopment Cooperation, which created the Shawano Industrial Park, the Shawa no County Housing Authority that initiated the process for the constructi on for elderly housing projects, Shawano County Zoning, the Shawano Coun ty Solid Waste Management Program, and the Shawano Council of Governmen ts with was instrumental in initiating the Shawano Lake Sanity District. J ohn McCormick was named Shawano Area Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Cit izen in 1983 for providing initiative, leadership and development abiliti es to make the community a better place to live.John is survived by his wife almost 67 years, Catherine; his twin daughter s: Betsy (Steven Lelyveld, M.D.) McCormick and Susan (Richard Hadley, M.D .) Van Dyke, John P.John P. Van Dyke, Appleton, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfa ther passed away Monday, December 5th, 2005 in Menasha, Wisconsin. He w as a most remarkable man who lived a full and loving life. He was born Oct ober 5, 1915 son of Joseph R. and Laura (Liesch) Van Dyke. John was employ ed for 32 years by Wisconsin Michigan Power Company now Wisconsin Electr ic Power Company as a Supervisor of Property Accounting. In addition to h is regular duties, John also worked in the community as a loaned executi ve for the Community Fund for 6 years and as a fund-raiser for Appleton Me morial Hospital and St. Elizabeth Hospital. John was a U. S. Navy veter an who served as an Aviation Chief Machinist Mate in the Pacific in WWI I. He was active as an adult leader in youth activities in PTA, Cub Scout s, Boy Scouts (where he enjoyed participating in the Order of the Arrow ), and De Molay (where he earned the Legion of Merit). John was very acti ve in Masonic organizations. He presided over all York Rite bodies includi ng Appleton Lodge 349, Appleton Chapter where he received the York Rite Cr oss of Honor, 32 degree Scottish Rite. He was also active in the Grand Com mandery Knights Templar of the State of Wisconsin and Beja Shriners A.A.O. N.M.S. of Green Bay, Wisconsin.Dad is survived by many who loved him: his son Robert R. (Aleen) Van Dyk e, daughter-in-law Evelyn M. Jerald Raymond VanDyke "Jerry", age 85, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2005 at Willow Point Memory Care in Verona, WI. He was born June 27, 1919 in Kaukauna to Joseph and Laura (Leisch) VanDyke. On January 20, 1945 Jerry married Marian Day, she preceded him in death in 2003. Jerry lived in Appleton for many years before moving to Madison. He was a volunteer at the food pantry for many years.
He is survived by his children: Mary (Dennis) Vidoni, Ill., Steve VanDyke, Madison, Jim (Mary Beth) VanDyke, Ind., Geralyn (Kim) Sharpe, Minn., Patty (Dan) Clancy, Madison; grandchildren: Eric, Marissa, Ben, Megan, Emily, Patrick, Wil, Kevin and Alex; three brothers and two sisters.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marian, and two brothers.

Appleton, Wisconsin - Eleanore Catherine Burke, 93 years, passed away February 23, 2018 at Brewster Village in Appleton, Wisconsin. She was born September 13, 1924 to her parents Joseph and Laura Van Dyke (Liesch) in Little Chute, Wisconsin. Eleanore was a graduate of Appleton West High School Class of 1943. She retired from Wisconsin Telephone Company in 1982 after 25 years of service where she worked as an Administrative Clerk.
On May 1, 1950 Eleanore C. Van Dyke married the love of her life Thomas J. Burke at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton, Wisconsin where they raised three children. Eleanore enjoyed volunteering at church in many ways. She especially enjoyed assisting families at the St. Joseph Food Pantry and singing in the St. Therese Choir.
Eleanore will be missed by her children David (Diana Coffey) Burke, Margaret "Greta" (Victor) Wenzel, and Kristine (Kenneth) Havel, Grandson Tony (Erin) Wenzel, great-grandsons Liam and Jackson Wenzel, siblings Joan (Ralph) Gast and Peter (Donna) Van Dyke, and sister-in-law Carol Van Dyke. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Gonnering, Dorot hy J.Dorothy J. Gonnering, Freedom, age 82, died on Monday, September 4, 200 6. She was born July 22, 1924, to the late Carl and Frances (Liesch) Grein er. On May 18, 1949, she married William Gonnering at St. Nicholas Cathol ic Church in Freedom. Dorothy loved her grandchildren and great-grandchild ren and enjoyed all their activities very much. She volunteered at Freed om Elementary Library. Dorothy enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing ca rds and games, and shopping with the girls. She also enjoyed her get toget hers with the Barflys (Bowling Team). William John Greiner, "Bill," Kaukauna, age 88, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, October 25, 2017. He was born on June 12, 1929, in the Town of Freedom, son of the late Carl and Frances (Leisch) Greiner. Bill married Ila Coffey on June 14, 1950. The two moved to Kaukauna where they owned and operated Modern Dairy. He was the "Milkman" and always was delivering with a smile. Bill was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Bill was always busy; in his early years, he enjoyed camping and boating with his family. He and his wife, Ila, purchased a cottage on Lee Lake which soon became their home. The lake home created endless memories and happiness. Bill loved to spend his time fishing and hunting with his brothers and friends. Bill, Dad will be missed, even if you just crossed his path because he definitely had a story to share with everyone of you.

Liesch, age 74, of Little Chute, passed away peacefully in the a rms of the Lord, at his home, on July 4, 2006, after a long, courageous ba ttle with a chronic lung disease. He was born on April 16, 1932, in Gre en Bay, WI, the son of Nic and Vi (Newhouse) Liesch. On May 14, 1952, he m arried the love of his life, Dolores Jansen. For 43 years, he was employ ed as a welder at Pierce Manufacturing, retiring in 1995. Throughout his l ife, Vern touched many hearts, no one being a stranger to him.His favorite place on earth was the "deer shack" in Argonne, WI, whe re he was a member of the Freedom Gun Club. He enjoyed meeting new peopl e, whether he was tending bar, bowling, playing pumpkin ball or just hangi ng in his garage. He loved and was loved by his family and friends and tre asured the times spent with them, including camping, relaxing at Marvin 's cottage, or fishing and hunting with Chesty and the boys. No matter whe re he was, Vern was the "life of the party," with his wisecracks, stori es and love of singing. Every one of his children was special to him a nd he cherished the times he had with his 18 grandchildren. Nora A Herrling (née Remmel) lived her life in just such a way. Nora's inherent love for people and curiosity about them is seen through the vast array of people whose lives were touched by her. Her legacy is one of compassion, love, joy and concern for others above herself. We are saddened by her passing-our grief is deep yet our hope is strong.
She was a tireless advocate for people who needed a helping hand and because of her, many lives were impacted in positive ways. Nora loved her children and extended family, and her concern to the end was for those left behind.
Nora was preceded in death by her husband Dennis, her father Milton, sister Mary, and mother Grace.
The funeral liturgy for Nora will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1617 W. Pine Street in Appleton, with Fr. Dennis Ryan officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery at a later date. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the hour of the celebration mass.

Brochtrup, Robert Robert Brochtrup, age 73 of 9 Circle Dr., Brillion died unexpectedly Monda y, May 10, 2004 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. He was born M ay 7, 1931 in Sherwood, son of the late Edwin and Leona Carney Brochtru p. On June 13, 1964 he married Jeanette Rataichek at Reedsville. He work ed at the Brillion Iron Works until his retirement in 1993.
Bob was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Brillion.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette; his children: Paul Brochtrup and spe cial friend Ginger, Brillion; Jean (Scott) Trochta, Brillion; John (Jennif er) Brochtrup, Appleton; Michelle Brochtrup, Milwaukee; six grandchildre n: Kirsten, Quentin, David, Taylor, Spencer and Jade. Delores "Dee" Hofacker, 80, Town of Center, passed away Friday, January 16, 2015, with her family by her side. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma (GG), sister, aunt, and a friend to so many. Dee was born on November 14, 1934, in Hollandtown to the late Edward and Margie (Carney) Van De Loo. She married John "Red" Hofacker on June 10, 1958. Red preceded her in death on February 2, 1984.
She and her husband farmed in the Town of Center. She was an active member of St. Edward Catholic Church. Her love of her Savior Jesus Christ was very important to her and she devoted many hours to the church as a Christian Mother, Chairperson for funerals and a choir member. She also volunteered many hours at St. Edward School. She enjoyed traveling with her brothers and sisters, baking, her flower gardens and watching the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.
Together they raised eight children: Kim (David) Calmes, Sue (Mark) VandenBerg, Joe (Lorrie), Mary (Michael) Fromm, Mike, Jackie (Donald) Murphy, John (Lynn), and Jim (Kim). Freedom - Leroy T. Kortz, age 77, of Freedom, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 24, 2018. He was born on February 21, 1941, son of the late Herman and Lillian (Carney) Kortz.
After high school, Leroy served as a Sergeant in the Marine Corps Reserves. He was a 50 year member of the Local 955, being a carpenter by trade. His love of working with wood, resulted in building his own home. He always had a project he was working on and could fix just about anything.
Leroy was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed nature walks through his land, fishing and hunting, especially his trips taken out west. Leroy also enjoyed bowling and was a long time season ticket holder for the Green Bay Packers.
Leroy is survived by his siblings: Glenn Kortz, Mary (Dick) Heindl, Gary (Lois) Kortz and Barb (Tom) Braun; nieces and nephews: Mike (Denise) LeNoble, Todd (Robin) LeNoble, Jean (Steve) Lenz, Tim Heindl (special friend Missy), Jeff Heindl, Brian (Annie Hughes-Heindl), Jason (Ashley) Heindl, Joe (Robyn) Kortz, Chad (Lisa) Kortz, Greg (Bonnie) Kortz, Jeremy Braun, Andy (Stacy) Braun and Laura (Dan) Howard; many great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Robert Peter Geurts, age 86, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born October 22, 1926 in the township of Oneida a son of the late Jacob and Evelyn (Van Den Berg) Geurts. Bob was a graduate of Freedom High School. He served his country with the US Navy during WWII in the South Pacific. Robert was united in marriage to LaVerne Murphy. He owned and operated Geurt's service station in Freedom and was a proud charter member of the Freedom Fire Department, Trailblazers snowmobile club and a life time member of the Freedom VFW Post 7692. He enjoyed Freedom sporting events with family and friends. Hunting trips and being the camp cook. Bob and his family enjoyed going to Kate and Joe Simons cottage on Moshawquit Lake. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Adam and Stacy and great-grandchildren on Chute Pond near Mountain. He loved to bike and walk, enjoying God's great outdoors. Robert was a faithful member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church of Freedom.
Bob is survived by his son, Robert M. Geurts, Freedom; his grandson, Adam (Stacy) Geurts, Kimberly; and four grandchildren, Keegan, Lynnea, Natilee and Nolan, a brother, DuWayne (Jeanne) Geurts, Eau Claire; Bob was preceded in death by his wife, LaVerne in November of 1994, a daughter, Patricia Geurts in August of 1997, a sister, Beatrice (Robert) Green and two brothers, Richard and Ronald (Betty) Geurts.
The Mass of the Christian Burial will be held 3:00PM Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church Freedom with Rev. Dan Felton officiating. Inurnment will be in St Nicholas Cemetery with Full Military Honors performed by Freedom VFW Post 7692. Robert's family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Tuesday from 11:30 AM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established for the church or St. Paul Hospice Service.
Robert's family would like to extend a special thanks to the Staff of St. Paul Hospice especially Dad's three angels, Lauren, Melissa and Karen. Thanks to Kris Binish for all the BS sessions with Dad. The family would also like to thank Terri Van Den Berg for checking in with Bob daily and for all the talks with Dad.

Wayne W. Starnitcky, 43, of Route 3, Plymouth (Town of Rhine), died of an apparent heart attack at his home Wednesday.
He was born June 10, 1935, in Chicago, a son of Mrs. Helen Romanesko Starnitcky and the late Walter Starnitcky. He attended Chicago schools.
On Oct. 3, 1959, he married Eileen Ditter at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, Armstrong (Fond du Lac County).
He served in the US Navy during the Korean War from 1952 to 1956. After their marriage the couple lived in the Town of Forest (Fond du Lac County) for four years. They lived in Glenbeulah for 10 years, before moving to the Town of Rhine five years ago.
He was employed at the Kohler Co. for the past 17 years.
He was a member of St. Fridolin Catholic Church, Glenbeulah and the Walter Gilles American Legion Post No. 484 of Glenbeulah.
Survivors are his wife; two sons; a daughter; his mother and two sisters (names omitted for privacy).
A funeral mass will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Fridolin church by Rev. Cletus Kaiser, pastor, preceded by family rites at Wittkopp Funeral Home, Plymouth, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Glenbeulah.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Friday and until the time of services Saturday. A parish vigil will be held there at 8 p.m. Friday. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside by the Walter Gilles post

Deborah A. (Debbie) Jabas, 62, of Waupun died Saturday, August 31, 2013, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
Debbie was born May 22, 1951, in Appleton, WI, the daughter of Richard and Nancy St. Louis Jabas. Debbie attended Appleton schools and graduated from Appleton East High School. She continued her education at the University of Wisconsin in Madison where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Communication Disorders. On August 28, 1974, she married Neil Gleason in Silver Lake, New York. The couple resided in Syracuse, New York, for about a year, where Neil taught school and then moved to Owen, WI, where Debbie taught at Owen-Withee schools for three years as a speech therapist. In 1978, they moved to Waupun, where she worked for CESA 6 (Cooperative Educational Services Agency 6) out of Oshkosh for many years. The last ten years of her career were spent at The Early Learning Center in North Fond du Lac, where she was an instructor in Early Childhood Special Needs, a position which was the highlight of her career. She especially loved working alongside the other early childhood educators - affectionately known as "the sisters". Debbie was a member of the Union-Congregational Church in Waupun.
Debbie is survived by her husband, Neil Gleason of Waupun; daughter, Emily (Erik) Wettersten of Golden, CO; her mother, Nancy Bruce of Summit Lake, WI; sister, Wendy (Mark) Laux of Brown Deer; brother, Russell (Lisa) Jabas of Appleton; two stepsisters, Sue (William) Hamilton of Madison and Sharon (Dan) Kohl of Appleton; stepbrother, Steve (Gail) Bruce of Neenah; and many other relatives and friends.
Debbie was preceded in death by son, Benjamin (Ben) Gleason on March 11, 2013; her father, Richard Jabas; and stepfather, William Bruce.
Memorial services for Deborah Jabas will be held Saturday, September 7, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Union-Congregational Church in Waupun, with Rev. Mark Arbisi officiating. Friends and relatives of Debbie may call on the family at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

Richard Glenn Huss, M.D., age 60, of Appleton, WI passed away unexpectedly with his wife and daughter by his side on October 14, 2014, while in Froedtert Hospital following a liver transplant. Dick had suffered a lengthy illness. Despite his health, he was grateful for so many things and was unwilling to give up. He was born to the late Glenn John and Rose Mary (Eichinger) Huss of Freedom, WI on August 19, 1954. Growing up on a dairy farm, he developed a solid work ethic. He married Barbara Pung of St. Clair, MI on July 14, 1977. Together they had two beautiful children. Dick graduated from Abbott Pennings High School in De Pere, WI in 1972. He attended Marquette University and the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dick completed his residency and fellowship at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. He and his wife, Barbara, practiced medicine in Muncie, IN for several years before moving to Appleton eight years ago. At that time he began working for Radiology Associates of Appleton. Dick's family was most important to him: his wife, his children, and grandson. He enjoyed his medical career as a radiologist and loved the groups of people with whom he worked. He loved animals, especially his Boston Terriers, Sniffy and Dickens. He enjoyed reading, going to performances at the PAC, and Packer games. He tried to never miss a game no matter where he was. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Appleton, the Radiological Society of North America, and other medical societies.
Dick is survived by his wife of 37 years, Barbara, children; David (Kelley) Huss and Elizabeth Huss, grandson; Julian Huss, and brother, James (Kathy) Huss. He is further survived by his siblings-in-law; MaryAnn (Ned) Gibbons, Susan Pung, Lawrence (Lillian) Pung, Rita Pung, Theresa (Gary) Clor and John (Daranée) Pung, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Mass for Richard will be held at 11:00AM, Monday, October 20, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 410 W. Lawrence St, Appleton with the Rev. Jim Leary, OFM Cap. officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00AM until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial fund in Richard's name. Prayers are requested. The family would like to encourage blood donation and for people to consider being listed as organ donors.
