Biography:
Anton Nytes, a successful agriculturist of Wilson township, who owns o ne hundred and fifteen acres of well improved and fertile land on secti on 30, where he engages in general farming and dairying, is one of the ent erprising and thrifty citizens Germany has contributed to Sheboygan count y. Anton Nytes was born in August, 1841, and is the son of Michael and Jo sephine Nytes, also natives of Germany, who emigrated to the United Stat es in 1846, coming direct to this county. The father, who was an agricult urist, first bought some land just north of St. George which he cultivat ed for several years, then disposing of it he purchased a farm in Lima tow nship, where he was living when he passed away at the age of sixty-five ye ars. As he was a child of only five years when he accompanied his paren ts on their removal to the United States, practically the entire life of A nton Nytes has been passed in the vicinity where he is now residing. He a ttended the district schools of Wilson township in his boyhood, but bei ng a member of a family possesed of only limited means his educational adv antages were meager as his services were required about the farm. Followi ng the death of his father, which occurred when he was a youth of seventee n, he left home and for five years worked as a teamster in the region of L ake Superior. Returning to Sheboygan county he once more took up farm wor k, following this occupation for two years. As he was thrifty and tempera te in his habits he accumulated sufficient money to buy sixty acres of la nd in 1867, and engaged in farming on his own account. Later he extend ed the boundaries of his farm by the addition first of twenty acres and su bsequently of forty, making his holdings aggregate one hundred and twen ty acres, about five of which have since been taken by the railroad and el ectric line. In connection with his general farming for many years Mr. Ny tes owned and operated a threshing outfit not only in Wilson township b ut throughout Sheboygan county, where he is widely known. He is enterpris ing and diligent in everything he undertakes and owns a well cultivated a nd valuable property. In connection with his general farming he has alwa ys raised such stock as was needed about the placeand he also engages in d airying to a certain extent. For his wife and helpmate, Mr. Nytes chose Miss Josephine Bock, the eve nt being celebrated at St. George's Roman Catholic church in Wilson townsh ip, and they have become the parents of thirteen children, six of whom a re deceased. The living are as follows: Michael and August, both of wh om are residing in Kaukauna; Mattie, who is at home; and Mary, the wi fe of Adam Holtshu, also of Kaukauna; Rosa, who married John Kluste r, of Sheboygan; and Anna and Josephine, who are living at home. The family are communicants of the Roman Catholic church, holding membe rship in St. George's parish, Wilson township, and Mr. Nytes is a stanch d emocrat in his political views. He has made his own way from early you th and such success as has come to him in the development of his interes ts is entirely attributable to his own efforts, as he has been favored wi th no assistance other than is accorded every man of recognized worth a nd responsibility."

Biography:
Anton Nytes and his wife, Josephine Bock, were both children of pionee rs who had come to Sheboygan County fo farm, leaving behind the Motherla nd in Europe because of the political unrest of the 1840's. Anton was bo rn August 4, 1841 in St. Hubert, Westphalia, Prussia, and emigrated at t he age of five with his parents Michael and Josephine Nytes and fami ly in 1846, coming directly to Sheboygan County. His faher first bought s ome land just south of St. George which he cultivated for several years a nd then disposed of it and purchased a farm in Lima township. . . . (sa me as former article) ..His wife, Josephine, was born March 12, 1849 in (East) Prussia and ca me with her parents, Lorenz and Maria Anna Bock, to the United States in J anuary of 1854. The family arrived in the Port of New York and also conti nued on to Wisconsin where Lorenz bought farming land in Lima township. Joseph and Anton were married at St. George's church in Wilson on Ju ly 7, 1868 by Father Patrick Siebold, the first resident pastor of the chu rch, whose cornerstone is dated 1867. The groom's brother, August, and t he bride's sister, Vincenz, were witnesses. The stained gass window whi ch the young couple donated to the newly built church attests to their fai th and support of the new parish; the graves of their children in the chu rchyard cemetery attest as well to their need for that faith to sustain th em in the grief and hardships they endured. Of their thirteen children, s ix died before reaching adulthood. Particularly tragic was the death of f our children in less than a month from an epidemic in 1887 including the ir eldest daughter Julia, age seventeen. A scarce tow years later, you ng Anton, fourteen, died of influenza. Anton increased the size of his farm, until it comprised of 115 acre s. In addition, he woned and operated a threshing outfit not only in Wils on, but throughout Sheboygan County. Threshing time was an exciting and m emorable experience in country life in those days, and the thresher w as a well known person. The spirit of fun and cooperation that prevail ed during that season--with the men, boys and even young children worki ng together to thresh the grain, and the women outdoing themselves in t he kitchen, cooking five meals a day for the crews--provided a lifeti me of memories. The work would be dangerous; Anton lost an arm in a thre shing accident when he was 46, but his descendants all remember him as a p owerful man who, in spite of the accident, could still wrap the reins arou nd the stump of his arm and break the most stubborn, spirited horse. He h ad an inventive nature, and devised a stump-pulling machine to wrest tho se hindrances from the fields of newly harvested forest land. He was a so ciable man whose face appears in many old photos of community gathering s, and he described himself as a staunch democrat in his political persuas ions. In 1875 he and Josephine built a "Milwaukee brick" house on the proper ty inscribing in wrought iron on the front of the building, the date of i ts erection and on the side, his initials. The home on Rt. 3, Van Treek R oad, is now owned by the Phil Kast family. During renovation the Kasks di scovered a miraculous medal which had been embeded in an inner wall, anoth er testament to the devotion and faith of the original occupants. The Nytes children married and settled in surrounding communities. Mich ael and August resided in Kaukauna, Mary (Mrs. Adam Holzschuh) in Hollandt own; Rose (Mrs. John Chlosta) in Sheboygan, and Anna (Mrs. Jacob Jacob y) in Sheboygan; after wife Josephine's death in 1919, Anton lived with h is son Matthew and daughter Josephine in Sheboygan. He spent his time vis iting his children, helping on their farms. His grandchildren remember h im vividly; he always had a word of encouragement for them, and a coin f or each child at the end of his stay. He died in 1924, and is buried wi th Josephine at St. George in Wilson.

Remembrances of Grandma Holschuh by Donna Holschuh Haanen
Grandma was a stern, outspoken woman--typicallly Prussian. She was a go od money manager, and according to my father, during the Depression in t he 30's she made a very public deposit at the local bank, thus reassuri ng the other depositers who were all withdrawing their money, and so sav ed the bank. (As my Dad was prone to exaggerate to make a good story, th is may not be entirely factual, but it does give a flavor for his respe ct for her financial acuity.)
Grandma had a rock garden, which I loved. She used to knit us scratchy wo ol mittens made from her own sheep. She also made quilts; my brother T om had a star crib quilt which he carried about until it was ragged. Moth er then covered it with a cotton cover, but Tom still called it his star b lankie. Grandma also made a log cabin quilt for us, which I remember givi ng me great comfort when I was abed with childhood illnesses.
When she was older, Uncle Harvey and Aunt Millie made a little apartment f or her upstairs; I remember the.....................

Anna J. Jacoby, 86, of Route 2, Sheboygan Falls, died today at Rocky Kn oll after a lengthy illness. The former Anna J. Nytes, she was born in the Town of Wilson on March 3 1, 1892, a daughter of the late Anton and Josephine Bock Nytes, and attend ed St. George Catholic School at Six Corners. On Nov 24, 1925, she married Jacob Jacoby at St. Peter Claver Cathol ic Church. He died Oct. 6, 1962. Mrs. Jacoby was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sheboygan Fal ls and the Christian Mothers Society of the parish. She is survived by two sons, Clement N. of Route 2, Sheboygan Falls a nd Jacob P., Sheboygan; six grandchildren, and two great grandchildre n. She was preceded in death by six brothers and six sisters. Funeral services will be held Thursday with an 11 a.m. funeral Ma ss at St. Mary Catholic Church, Sheboygan Falls. The Rev. Greg Hopefl, as sociate pastor, will be celebrant of the Mass which will follow family rit es at 10:30 a.m. at the Kroos-Mason Funeral Home. Burial will be in Calva ry Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. Members of the parish and Christian Mothers Society will hold a vigil t here at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. A memorial fund has been established in Mrs. Jacoby's name.

Kaukauna - William N. Nytes, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Nytes. Hollandtown, died at 1:30 Sunday morning: at the home of his sister, Mrs
William Teenessen, following an illness of two weeks. He was a student at St. Norbert college DePere and was to have graduted this spring.
Decedent is survived by his parents Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Nytes two brothers, Frank and Bernard Nytes, Hollandtown; two sisters. Josephine, Hollandtown
and Mrs. William Tennessen, Kaukauna. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon from the Tennessen home with interment in

Age 82, died peacefully Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at her home. She was bo rn November 12, 1918 in Wrightstown, daughter of the late August and Johan na (Lorenz) Nytes. On April 17, 1941 Mert married Jerome Haen at St. Franc is Catholic Church in Hollandtown. They enjoyed 50 years of marriage toget her prior to his death in 1992. The couple resided in Hollandtown their en tire married lives, having farmed and later co-founding Star Orchards, whi ch they operated. Mert belonged to numerous art groups such as the Kaukau na Creative Arts Group, the Art Critique Group and the Appleton Galle ry of Arts. She was a longtime member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Holl andtown; where she was a member of the Mixed Choir and a past member of t he Altar Society. Clara Cecilia Nytes Rademacher, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2010 surrounded by her family at St. Paul Home Kaukauna. She was born on November 4, 1920 to August and Johanna (Lorenz) Nytes and grew up with six siblings on the family farm on the bank of the Fox River near Wrightstown. She attended a one room country school nearby. Although circumstances only allowed her to complete grade eight, she was an intelligent, creative woman and wrote in her memoirs "Learning is a process that goes on all your life."On July 22, 1943 she married Allen Rademacher at St. Francis in Hollandtown, and began the busy life of a farmwife, raising six children. She loved to tell the story of living in their garage for five months in 1952 with four small children, while their farmhouse was torn down and a new one built.
When the kids were old enough, Clara found time to take up oil painting, which she loved. She was also an excellent seamstress, knitter and gardener and was a member of the Calumet County Homemakers for many years. She and Allen loved bird watching, canoeing and all of nature. They traveled with family all over the U.S., from the east to west coast, Canada, often to the Gulf States, and one special trip to Hawaii. She also loved to write about their trips and about "the old days," often getting articles published in local newspapers. She enjoyed corresponding with a pen pal in Australia for over 30 years. Above all she was a loving mother, concerned foremost about the happiness and safety of her children.
The family wished to thank the compassionate staff of Primrose Lane at St. Paul Home. Also the staff of Calumet County Homecare who helped Clara from 1992-2009.
Clara is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law; Donald (Nancy) Rademacher, Francis (Marci Reynolds) Rademacher, Joseph (Vivian) Rademacher, three daughters and two sons-in-law; Karen (Tim) Schroeder, Jean (Mark) Stecker and Christine Rademacher, eight grandchildren; Tim (Karen) Schroeder, Veronica (Chris) Skudlarczyk, Erin Rademacher, Micah (Kristen) Rademacher, Noah (Tegan Thurston) Rademacher, Jonah Rademacher, Ian Duerr, Martha (Kevin Dunne) Duerr; seven great grandchildren; Clayton Schroeder, Amelia Schroeder, Morgan Rademacher, Milo Skudlarczyk, Cormac Skudlarczyk, Elise Dunne and Clara Dunne and one brother-in-law, Ambrose Hammen.

Nytes, William F. "Bill", Age 76 of Kaukauna, passed into the arms of the Lord on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at St. Paul Home, Kaukauna. Bill was born on November 25, 1933 to the late Frank and Edith Nytes. He graduated from Kaukauna High School and then served in the Army from 1952 - 1954. Bill was a floor mechanic until retirement. His passion was fishing and hunting. He was given the title "The Legend" by his fishing buddies. Canada was Bill's favorite.

LaVerne Marie (Nytes) Stahl entered into eternal life on Saturday, June 3, 2017. She was born in Appleton, WI on February 29, 1928, to the late Bernard and Lucy (Stemper) Nytes. Following graduation from Kaukauna High School with the class of 1947, LaVerne was employed at Fox River Paper Corporation until her marriage.
On June 20, 1953, LaVerne was united in marriage to the late Walter (Wally) A. Stahl at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Kaukauna. LaVerne was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She enjoyed reading, fashion, sewing and gathering with friends for countless games of Bridge. She was a great cook, preparing fabulous meals and deserts for family and friends. LaVerne will long be remembered as an amazing story teller.
Laverne was a "people person" and found friends wherever she lived including Appleton, Winneconne, Menasha, and most recently Kimberly. She and Wally were "snowbirds" beginning in 1997, living in Bradenton, FL during the winter months.
LaVerne is survived by a son, James (Susan) Stahl, of Winneconne, WI and a daughter, Susan (Howard) Longin of Weston, FL; grandchildren, Matthew (Ashley) Stahl, Nathan Stahl, Hannah Stahl, Jonathan Stahl, Michael (Tracey) Longin and Jennifer (Joshua) Parish. There are six grandsons: Gabriel, Jonah, Micah, Benjamin and Tobias Stahl and Tejay Longin. She is further survived by a brother, Gerald B. (Catherine) Nytes of Menasha, WI and sister-in-law, Nanitte Grote of Middleton, WI along with nephews and many, many friends.
The family is grateful for the compassionate care that she received from the staff and caregivers at both Oakridge Gardens of Menasha and St. Elizabeth Hospital of Appleton. Special thanks are extended to the nurses Mounia at Oakridge Gardens and Cheryl at St. Elizabeth Hospital.

The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 410 Wallace Street in Combined Locks. John R. Parker, age 81, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Brewster Village in Appleton following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. John was born April 11, 1930 to the late Rowley and Josephine (Nytes) Parker. On June 5, 1953, he was united in marriage to Hazel Laux. John had a long, honorable career as a police officer with the Appleton Police Department, retiring as a lieutenant. In 1988, he was named Outstanding Police Officer of the Year. Jim married RoseMary Maenner on June 23, 1962 in Eau Claire. She preceded him in death in 2014. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family, and he valued the traditional Roman Catholic Latin Mass.
Friends and family are encouraged to attend the visitation 4 to 6 p.m. Monday evening, December 28, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2771 Oakwood Dr., Green Bay. On Tuesday, December 29, a visitation will be held at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Oratory, 211 N. Maple St., Green Bay, followed by a traditional Latin Mass at 11 a.m.

Blane Gerald DeWane Holschuh, 52, Madison, WI, di ed August 18, 1989 at home after a valiant fight against a malignant tumo r. He was born Sept. 28, 1936, the son of Herbert and Eleanor (DeWane) Ho lschuh. On September 12, 1978 he married the former Marilyn Claire Pee tz in Madison. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn: his children, Jery, Aimee, Patric ia, Douglas, Michelle, Benjamin, Melissa, Andre, and Ramon Holschuh. He formally left the priesthood a nd began doctoral studies in counseling in 1971 and received his Ph. D. in 1980. Professionally he worked in private practice as a family therapist at M adison Counseling Services from 1973-1984 and at Affiliated Psychologic al Resources from 1984-1989. He was also on the staff of the Crises Inter vention Service at the Mental Health Center of Dane County from 1978-198 9. Blane was active in Boy Scouts, Regent Soccer Club and the Unitari an Society. He was co-chairperson with his wife, Marily of the Adoptive P arent Group of Southern Wisconsin. He was a man of extraordinary gener;os ity and loving, and did much work in the area of promoting adoption and wo rking with children with special needs. Jerry J. Holschuh, 46, Appleton, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2012. He was born in Kaukauna, on June 1, 1965, to Marlene Holschuh and Daniel Holschuh.
Kerry will be dearly missed by his by his father, Dan; brothers, Kelly (Kathleen) Holschuh and Rick (Bridgett) Cornelius; sisters, Amber Holschuh and Renee Holschuh; and numerous aunts, uncles and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marlene; and grandparents, Henry and Josephine Fox, and Harvey and Millie Holschuh.
The family would like to thank Mike Loppnow and his staff for their friendship and care.
A private family service will be held. A memorial has been established in Kerry's name to benefit Loppnow Adult Day Care, 2426 N. Appleton Ave., Appleton, WI 54911.

Richard R. Kramer, New London, age 55, passed away peacefully with his family by his side after many years of suffering on Wednesday October 21, 2015 at Theda Clark Medical Center. He was born in Appleton on August 2, 1960 to the late Robert and Mary (Nytes) Kramer. Rick worked as a millwright at Thilmany Pulp and Paper for 28 years.
Rick will be missed by his sisters, step mother, step siblings, nieces, nephews and good friends.
