    Obituary:
Brillion man killed in motorcycle accident
Town of Brillion - An 18-year-old Brillion man was killed Saturday after being ejected from his motorcycle just south of the Brown-Calumet county line.
Calumet County Medical Examiner Mike Klaeser said the victim was riding the cycle south on County PP when it left the highway at a curve just south of Man-Cal road.
Emergency personnel from Calumet, Brown and Outagamie counties were summoned to the scene after the crash was reported by a 911 call at 6:01 p.m.
Witnesses indicated the victim was passing more than one vehicle at a curve when the cycle touched the east shoulder and lost traction.
The ThedaStar helicopter responded, but its crew was instructed via radio to cease resuscitation efforts at the scene at 6:45 p.m.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and taken to a Brillion funeral home.
Klaeser said he received no indication alcohol played a role in the accident, calling it "apparently speed-related."
Klaeser declined to disclose the cause of death, but said the victim was not wearing a helmet.
The cycle left the roadway to the east, entered a ditch and struck a driveway culvert, Klaeser said.
The victim, who was not identified Saturday because a family member could not be reached, was ejected upon impact, Klaeser said.
Authorities were having difficulty trying to reconstruct the accident late Saturday, Klaeser said.
"It appears the motorcycle traveled farther than the victim did," Klaeser said.
    End of article.
Bill and I visited Mark and Debbie this afternoon. The family member who could not be reached was their oldest son, Brett who is a student at a college in Mississippi. Their oldest child and only daughter, Shanna, is now at home having graduated from college this past mid-term. Their other son, between Brett and Brandon, is Marshal, who lives in Appleton. I think it was Brett arriving home when Bill and I were driving away from the house this afternoon, but I am not sure.
It has been very windy the last few days, and Mark suspects that a sudden heavy gust of wind might have blown Brandon off the road. He said, I think, (I don't know thing one about motorcycles!) that it was a racing motorcycle, without a windshield, and Brandon was not wearing a helmet, although
he usually did. He was traveling, most likely, from the home Germaine and Max lived in most recently (on ManCal Road) to the house they had lived in for most of their married life (on County K.) A relatively short distance.
Debbie, Brandon's mother, had been in Brillion grocery shopping and saw the ambulance and other police and rescue vehicles farther down the road when she came home. A neighbor, a friend, came to get her, and she was able to be with Brandon, holding his hand at the end. (This was told
to me by one of her close friends.)
Funeral arrangements had not been made when we talked to Mark & Debbie, but they were thinking most likely there would be a wake Tuesday, funeral Wednesday. Those of you who want to can access the obit at their web site:
    www.postcrescent.com
I am not sure which address is correct, but most likely either or both will work, if you care to write (or check the Post Crescent); I have both of these Brillion addresses: W641 ManCal Road, Brillion, WI 54110 Phone 920-864-7720
    W522 County Trunk K, Brillion, WI 54110 Phone 920-864-7813
Please share this information with anyone you think may want to know about it. Perhaps most of us will know this young man only in that he was Germaine's grandson.
    Love, Katie and Bill
