    Andrew K. Kangas, age 80, of Appleton, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at Kimberly Assisted Living. Lewy Body Dementia got the best of him. Bud was born in Appleton on June 4, 1934, to the late Andrew and Lynne (Pysto Anderson) Kangas. He graduated at Appleton High School with the class of 52. On February 19, 1955, Bud was united in marriage to Margaret "Marge" Quella at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Appleton. The couple has enjoyed 60 years together. Bud worked in the Western Electric Division of AT&T. After 38 years at AT&T, he worked part time at Northside Hardware in Appleton for 20 years.
    Bud was active with American Legion Post 38 Baseball. He was an Appleton West Terror Backer and also one of the founders of Senior Babe Ruth Baseball in Appleton as well as one of the founders of Pop Warner Football in Elk Grove Village, IL. He was a long time member at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
    Bud is survived by his wife Margaret "Marge", Appleton; a daughter, Bobbi (Tom) Emmers, Tennessee; two sons: Andy (Shari) Kangas, Green Bay and Joe (Karen) Kangas, Appleton; 7 grandchildren: Becky, Scott, Brett, Mitch, Amy, Mary, and Jack; 3 great grandchildren: Mason, Alexa, and Ace; a brother-in-law, Ray (Marilyn) Quella; and a sister-in-law, Elaine Quella. Bud is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, son Mike, mother and father-in-law Agnes and Joe Quella, and 4 sisters: Betty, Bernice, Verna, and Helen.
    A Funeral Mass for Bud will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, February 5, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 404 W. Lawrence St. Appleton, with Father James Leary OFM Cap officiating. Friends may visit from 4 to 6:30 pm on Wednesday at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel, and directly at the church on Thursday from 9:30 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
    The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Kimberly Assisted Living and to the friends at Northside Hardware for their kindness, care, and concern.

    Michael K. "Mike" Kangas, of Appleton, age 47, died unexpectedly on Wednesday March 4, 2009. Mike was born January 19, 1962, in Appleton, to Andrew "Bud" and Margaret "Marge" (Quella) Kangas. Mike is a graduate of Appleton West High School and UW-Stout. He worked for many years as a Computer Programmer. Mike was a loving father who devoted his life to his children.
    He will be sadly missed by his son, Mitchell Kangas, Oklahoma State University; two daughters: Amy and Mary Kangas of Stillwater, OK; his parents, Andrew "Bud" and Marge Kangas, Appleton; brother, Andy (Shari) Kangas, Green Bay; his sister, Bobbi (Tom) Emmers, Wilson, NC; brother, Joe (Karen) Kangas, Appleton; nieces and nephews: Scott, Brett, and Becky Emmers, and Jack Kangas. He is further survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends.
    He was preceded in death by his son Jake.
    A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 404 W. Lawrence St., Appleton, with Father Larry Abler officiating. Friends may visit directly at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
