    Obituary:
    Viola M. Kemp, age 87, of the Town of Menasha, passed away at Bethel Lutheran Homes, on Saturday, June 16, 2007. She was born November 6, 1919, the daughter of the late Louis and Alma (Franz) Wrensch, in the living quarters over a cheese factory, delivered by the then-called mid-wife in the Town of Wrightstown. When the factory burned, they moved to Brookside Cheese Factory on the corner of Hwy. 10 and Military Road heading to Sherwood. She loved music and she and sister Gen, sang for weddings and funerals at St. John Lutheran Church. Their aunt Ester Arndt played the organ. Her father wrote the Wisconsin Cheese song and the three of them organized a band with another cheese maker called Louis's Harmonizers. They played mostly for wedding dances at the St. John Hall and Bruss's Little Chicago which is now Dorn's Supper Club. She graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1937. She was a bookkeeper and four other workers started up her fathers WIS Pride Cheese Plant in Hilbert. Viola then married Wesley Kemp and moved to Kaukauna. She was a stay-at-home mom, and was one of the leaders, who started the Girl Scouts in Kaukauna. The leaders held meetings taking turns in their homes until a room was obtained at Nicolet Elementary School. In 1958, she started working at AAL in the underwriting department and continued for the next 26 years, retiring in 1984. She worked to help her four children through college and always was so pleased as there were four teachers in the family. After her husband died, she lived 24 years in the Town of Neenah and then moved to her present address. She was active at the Neenah YMCA as Treasurer of the Senior Citizens Group. She volunteered for the Winnebago County Supportive Group and the Theda Clark Cancer Group. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Menasha, and the Ladies Guild. Viola loved to go to church, playing cards with seniors at the Boys and Girls Brigade, Neenah. She also loved music and baby sitting her grandchildren.
    Viola is survived by a daughter, Lindy Kemp, Menomonee Falls, WI; two sons: Keith (Kathy) Kemp, Chicago Heights, IL; Calvin (Sharon) Kemp, West Union, IA; five grandchildren: Sarah Kemp Stearns, Woodruff, WI; Andrew Kemp, Deerfield, IL; Kandi (John) Lynn, Menasha; Matthew and Philip Kemp, West Union, IA; five great-grandchildren: Christopher Hoffman, Milwaukee; Alexandra, Samantha, Alanah and John Jr. Lynn all of Menasha.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley, a son Gary, a sister and brother-in-law, Arno and Genevieve Luchterhand, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Clifford and Laura Kemp, a niece, Judy Detter, two nephews: Glen and James Luchterhand.
    Viola is further survived by, three nephews: Arno Luchterhand Jr., Bruce (Audrey) Kemp, and Dale (Carol) Kemp; three nieces: Mary (John) Karls, Beverly Luchterhand, Marsha (Tony) Goeser; four great-nieces and two great-nephews.
    Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at Bethel Lutheran Church, Menasha, with the Rev. Sam Degner officiating. Burial will be held in St. John's Cemetery in the Town of Woodville. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Bethel Lutheran Church in Viola's name.
    The family would like to thank the staff at Bethel Lutheran Homes, Oshkosh, for their compassion during Viola's stay.

    Gary A. "Benny" Kemp, of Menasha, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton at the age of 64. He was born October 28, 1941, in Appleton, son of the late Wesley Kemp and Viola (Wrench) Kemp of Menasha. Gary graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1959, and attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He graduated from Fox Valley Technical Institute's traffic school. On October 25, 1975, he was united in marriage to Betty Slomski of Menasha at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Kaukauna.
    Gary served his country as a medical specialist with the headquarters company 127th Battalion of the 32nd Division during the Berlin Crisis. For over 40 years he managed transportation and distribution with companies in the Fox Valley, Hartford, Milwaukee, Chicago, Oshkosh, and St. Louis, Missouri.
    He was a former member of the Fox Valley Traffic Club, the Experimental Bicycle Association, the American Legion, C.E.S. Lions Club, Elks Lodge #676, Germania Club in Menasha, Unisource Distribution Council, Fox Valley Genealogical Society, and the Lever Management Council.
    Gary is survived by his mother, Viola Kemp of Menasha; his wife, Betty Kemp of Menasha; a daughter, Kandi (Johnnie) Lynn of Menasha and their children: Alexandra, Samantha, Johnnie, Jr., and Alanah; a sister, Lindy Kemp of Menominee Falls; two brothers, Keith (Kathryn) Kemp of Illinois and Calvin (Sharon) Kemp of Iowa; a niece, Sarah (Paul) Stearns; three nephews: Andrew Kemp, Philip Kemp, and Matthew Kemp; and first cousins: Bruce Kemp, Dale Kemp, Mary Luchterhand Karls, Marsha Luchterhand Goeser, and Arno Luchterhand, Jr.
    Gary was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Kemp in 1984, maternal grandparents, Louis and Alma Wrench, and his paternal grandparents, Herman and Rose Kemp, Jr.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 8, 2006, at TRINITY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 804 Grignon Street in Kaukauna with Rev. Richard Maurice and Rev. Mark Luetzow officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit Sunday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home and again Monday morning at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of the services.
