    Don Meeuwsen, 86, De Pere, passed away Wednesday evening, May 23, 2007, surrounded by his loving family. The son of the late Ben and Lucy (Vanda Heuvel) Meeuwsen was born Feb. 12, 1921, in Green Bay. He was a graduate of St. Norbert High School in De Pere and Badger Business College in Green Bay. Don was a decorated World War II Veteran, having served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the 2nd Tank Battalion, 9th Armored Division, fought in the Battle of the Bulge, and received the Bronze Star.
    On Oct. 28, 1943, he married the former Rachael Hockers at St. Boniface Catholic Church. He worked at Hockers Brick & Tile Co. Inc. for 25 years and at the State Bank of De Pere for 16 years, prior to retirement in June of 1986. He enjoyed doing bookkeeping for several area small businesses and his church for many years. An active member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, he was a member of the Holy Name Society and was a former Trustee. He was a long-time member of the De Pere Area Men's Club (formerly the Golden K). Don enjoyed fishing and attending St. Norbert and UW- Green Bay athletic events, especially basketball. Don was a wonderful family man and most especially enjoyed time spent with all the kids. He was a gentle man who had a great sense of humor.
    Survivors include his wife, Rachael; eight children, Donna and Larry Babiarz, De Pere; Marge and Horace Cochran, Burr Ridge, Ill.; Nancy and Adrian Bennett, Evanston, Ill.; Tom and Betsy Meeuwsen, De Pere; Mary and Dennis Leiterman, De Pere; Mike and Kate Meeuwsen, New Franken; Tim and Dell Meeuwsen, Greenville; Steve and Lois Meeuwsen, De Pere; 18 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Omer Meeuwsen, Green Bay; brother-in-law, John Gucciardi, Milwaukee; sister-in-law, Gladys Jacobs, De Pere; and many nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Irene Gucciardi; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law as well as several nieces and nephews.
    Friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 N. Tenth St., De Pere from 4 to 8 p.m. (TODAY) Friday, May 25, 2007. Visitation will continue after 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2007, at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family (corner of Suburban Drive and Lourdes Ave, De Pere) until time of service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated at 10:30 a.m. at church with Father David Baeten and Father Tim Shillcox, O. Praem officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.     In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund will be established.
    A very special thank you is extended to Dr. Jeremy Green for the many years of medical and emotional care provided to Don. The family would also like to thank the nurses and staff at Odd Fellow Home, Dr. Gerald Bayer and the staff at Green Bay Oncology, and the staff of Unity Hospice and Palliative Care for their tender loving care and compassion given to Don and his family.

    Obituary:
    Omer H. Meeuwsen, age 92, of De Pere, passed away Friday, May 6, 2016 at a local nursing home. The son of the late Ben and Lucy (Vanden Heuvel) Meeuwsen was born August 25, 1923 in De Pere. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and later belonged to the DAV Ch. 3 in De Pere. Omer enjoyed traveling up north to his cottage, fishing, playing cribbage with family and friends, and taking trips to Mexico with Jim.
    Survivors include his children: Laura Lewis, Robert (Melanie) Meeuwsen, Richard (Mary) Meeuwsen and Jeff (Mary) Meeuwsen; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law John Gucciardi, Sr. and a dear friend Bill.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons: Larry, Ken and Jim; grandson Aaron Meeuwsen, brother Don (Rachel) Meeuwsen; sister Irene Gucciardi, son-in-law Al Lewis and a special friend, Marilyn "Babe" Pansier.
    Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, on Tuesday, May 10, from 5-7pm, with a parish prayer service at 7pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at St. Willebrord Catholic Church, 209 S. Adams Street, Green Bay, from 9:30am-10:15am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am with Fr. Andy Cribben, O.Praem officiating with full military honors to follow the mass. Burial will be in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.

    Aaron Meeuwsen, 40, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2013. He was born in Green Bay on May 30, 1973. He attended Bay Port High School.
    Aaron loved the outdoors especially hunting and fishing.
    He is survived by his parents, Richard and Mary Meeuwsen; his father Gary Freward; two brothers, Gary and Adam Meeuwsen; four sisters, Christine Meeuwsen, Karen, Katherine and Daisy Freward; niece, Katrina Meeuwsen. Aaron is further survived by his paternal grandparents, Omer and Marcella Meeuwsen; as well as many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl (Mary) Poquette and Raymond (Doris) Frewerd.
    Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 28 from 10 am to the time of memorial service at 12pm at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Ave., with Rev. Wil Tabb officiating. Online Condolences may be expressed at www.lyndahl.com.
    The family would like to offer a special thank you to Aaron's uncle Marc Frewerd for his care and support.
