    Clarence Voigt, 92, Appleton, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009. He was born on Sept. 4, 1917, in Dale, the son of the late Mylon and Rose (Scheffelke) Voigt. On July 30, 1938, he married Elizabeth Mitchell at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Appleton.
    Clarence served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre, mainly in New Guinea and the Phillipines. He was wounded twice and received the Purple Heart. Clarence was a lifetime member of the Johnston-Blessman Post 38 American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans.
    He retired October of 1977 from CW Transport after 30 years of service. Clarence and Fr. Schmidt formed the Fox Valley Chapter of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, in which he later became president. He was also the co-founder of the Palisades Park Baseball League. Clarence enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. His family was very important to Clarence and they enjoyed traveling and camping throughout the United States.
    Clarence is survived by his children, James (Noritha) Voigt, Fremont; Janis (Gary) Weiland, Appleton; Mary (Don Loga) Voigt, Wisconsin Dells; Steven (Debby) Voigt, Oshkosh; and Susan (Curt) Foth, Appleton; grandchildren, Andy Voigt, Julie (Bruce) Gehring and Amy (John) Biner; Ann (Jim) Chesnutt, Chris (Heidi) Weiland and Joe (Michelle) Weiland; Jenny (DuWayne) Anderson and Cory "Steve" (Brooke) Decker; Sam Foth and Liz (Craig) Cotton; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Rosalind Moritz, Colorado Springs, Colo.; sister-in-law, Rose Voigt, Appleton; brother-in-law, Joseph Mitchell, Menasha; and his special friend, Marion Grosser, Appleton.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; son, Gary; infant brother, Russell Voigt; brother, Lawrence Voigt; sisters, Cornelia (Raymond) Meyer and Harriet (Leo) McGill; brother-in-law, Mose Moritz; and great-granddaughter, Angelica Caring Decker-Buettner.
    The funeral liturgy for Clarence will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 222 E. Fremont Street, Appleton. Father Robert Karuhn will be officiating. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Wednesday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass.
    The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Manor Care and the Appleton Retirement Community. Also, special thanks to the staff at the Golden Basket and the "breakfast club" for all of your warm conversation and care to Clarence.

    Surrounded by love, Janis Weiland passed away at home on Sunday evening, April 16, 2017. Janis was born in Appleton on May 11, 1947, daughter of the late Clarence and Betty (Mitchell) Voigt. She was a graduate of Xavier High School and Mercy School of Nursing in Oshkosh. On March 9, 1968, Janis married Gary Weiland in Appleton. Janis was a registered nurse for thirty-two years on the rehabilitation unit at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Prior to her retirement, she was a home healthcare nurse with Ministry Health. Janis was a beautiful and gracious woman. Her family were her friends and her friends were her family.
    She enjoyed simple pleasures: never missing the grandchildren's sporting events; watching movies with her grandson; looking forward to morning coffee with her beloved sister and brother-in-law; spoiling her golden retriever, Pedro, with snacks; drinking her Blue Moons; cheering for the Milwaukee Brewers; lunching with her girlfriends; and thoroughly enjoying every single day of her life.
    Janis is survived by three children: Ann (James) Chesnutt of Appleton; Christian (Heidi) Weiland of Menasha and their children Ethan and Haden; Joseph (Michelle) Weiland of Menasha and their children Allison and Ryan; two brothers: James (Noritha) Voigt of Fremont and Steven (Debra) Voigt of Winneconne; two sisters: Mary (Don Loga) Voigt of Wisconsin Dells and Sue (Curt) Foth of Appleton; brother-in-law Greg (Kathy Taplan) Weiland of Neenah; sister-in-law Lois (Dennis) Wiesner of Hortonville. There are also many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Janis was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a brother Gary, and her in-laws Buck, Verna, Mark, and Carl Weiland.
    Friends and family are invited to the visitation on Friday, April, 21, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior Street in Appleton. The Memorial Service will be held on Friday at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Joe Pullen officiating. Per Janis's wish there will be a celebration of life following the Memorial Service.
    The family would like to acknowledge the following for their care and compassion: Dr. Tammela and his extraordinary staff at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay; the third floor med-surg unit at St. Elizabeth Hospital; and Heartland Hospice.
    There is no death-only a change of worlds.
