    Kaukauna Times dated 1/21/1955: Pvt. Leroy and Pvt. Ronald Romenesko completed basic training together at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., and after spending a furlough with their family the brothers will go separate ways Leroy returning to Missouri and Ronald to Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey.

    Obituary:
    Leroy W. Romenesko, Little Chute, 74, passed away Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at St. Paul Elder Services in Kaukauna. Leroy was born in Kaukauna on April 4, 1936, to the late Clem and Alice Romenesko. On Aug. 23, 1958, he married Darlene A. Gerrits at St. Nicholas Parish in Freedom. They celebrated their 50th anniversary on Aug. 23, 2008. Lee was employed at Great Northern Container and later at Miller Electric along with owning his own septic business. He enjoyed dancing and listening to polka music, snowmobiling, fishing and later making chairs out of clothes pins. Lee also enjoyed sharing his stories and photos of his time in the Army. Lee served in the Army from Oct. 1954 to Oct. 1956, and was a member of the American Legion Post 38. Lee loved being around his family and making all the grandchildren laugh.
    Lee is survived by his wife of 52 years, Darlene; his children, Brenda (Joe) Nicolais, Appleton; Bruce (Chris) Romenesko, Appleton; four grandchildren, Stephanie and Aaron Nicolais, Brittany and Jason Romenesko; step granddaughter, Christine (Bill) Kolgen; and step great-grandchildren, Alex and Trevor. He is further survived by his brothers and sisters, Ron, Del (Diane), Dean, Neil and Bev Romenesko, June Geiger, Bonnie (Richard) Byford and Noreen (Tom) Thomas; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bob (Millie), Lois, Don (Lillian) and Roger Gerrits, Germaine Werner, Clarice Islinger, Vernadine (Jim) Welch and Donald Evers.
    Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Clem and Alice Romenesko; father and mother-in-law, John and Geraldine Gerrits; step mother-in-law, Loretta Gerrits; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerome Werner, Frank Islinger, Elaine Evers, Eugene Gerrits, Audrey (Earl) Van Handel.
    Visitation will be held Tuesday Nov. 2, 2010, at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 S. Pine St. Little Chute) from 2:30 p.m. until time of Mass at 5:30 p.m. The Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen will officiate. Military rites conducted by the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258 will immediately follow Mass.     The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the staff at St. Paul Elder Services for their loving care of Lee. He really enjoyed dancing with all of them.
