Thiel, Velma Augusta PaulineVelma Augusta Pauline Thiel, Manawa, 90, passed away Friday, June 3, 200 5, at the Manawa Community Nursing Center. She was born Sept. 2, 1914, dau ghter of the late George and Bertha (Gehrke) Beckman on the home farm in t he Town of Royalton. On Jan. 25, 1936, she married Alfred Thiel Sr. He pre ceded her in death July 4, 1986. Velma was an active member of St. Paul Lu theran Church in Manawa her entire life. She was a charter member of the L utheran Women’s Missionary League, sang in the church choir, was a memb er of the Ladies Aid and taught Sunday School over 30 years. She loved spe nding time with her children and grandchildren.Survivors include her children: Alfred Jr., Las Vegas, NV; Ruth (Thomas) W egener, Midland, Mich.; Norma (Larry) Tesch, Neenah, Wis.; David (Sally ), Manawa; 13 grandchildren: Gloria (Tom) Briske, Lorine (Brad) Raddant, J ohn (Angella) Thiel, Nane (Greg) Hemphill, Paul Thiel, Marty (Kristin) Weg ener, Laura (Trevor) Gould, Mark (Tanya) Tesch, Tara Tesch, Tracy (Bruc e) Spinks, Corinne (Troy) Zielke, Michael (Christina) Thiel, Kathryn Thie l; 20 great-grandchildren: Tasha and Derek Briske, Kyle and Alec Raddan t, Ali and Jacob Thiel, Kierra and Tianna Hemphill, Noah, Jonah and Lila W egener, Brady Gould, Brayden Tesch, Zachary, David, Levi and Shane Spink s, Jared, Brett and Adam Zielke; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relativ es and friends.Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother: Cl arence Beckman; a sister, Melda Mortensen; a daughter-in-law, June Thiel.The Christian funeral service for Velma will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Ju ne 7, 2005, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa with Rev. H. William Jor dan officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Weyauwega. Friends m ay call at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Manawa on Monday fr om 4 - 8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the ti me of the service.The family wishes to thank the staff at the Manawa Community Nursing Cente r, Dr. Peterson, Rev.
