    Nieuwenhuis, Eugene J.
    Eugene J. Nieuwenhuis, age 86, of Kimberly, died peacefully, Tuesday, January 2, 2007, at home, surrounded by his family. He was born January, 17, 1920, to the late John and Mary (Schuh) Nieuwenhuis, in Hortonia, where he lived and worked on the family farm, until his marriage. He was employed in electrical maintenance at Fox Valley Technical College, until his retirement in 1982. Eugene enjoyed camping, repairing items for his family and friends and was an avid supporter of high school sports. Gene also kept busy by making rosaries for the first communicants at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Sturgeon Bay.
    He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and a volunteer at St. Joseph Food Pantry.
    Eugene is survived by four children: Linda (Joel) Barkin, Appleton; Jean (Mike) Maas, Kaukauna; David (Marilyn) Nieuwenhuis, Myrtle Beach, SC; Don (Beth) Nieuwenhuis, Darboy; grandchildren: Sarah Barkin (Jim Metcalf), Syracuse, NY; David Barkin and his special friend, Janine Bussa, Milwaukee; Bret (Yolanda) Gerrits, Kaukauna; Chad (Jennifer) Gerrits, Kaukauna; Craig (Darci) Gerrits, Kaukauna; John (Nanette) Gerrits, Kimberly; Jason (Amy) Nieuwenhuis, Oklahoma City, OK; Tracy (Jim) Crawford, Houston, TX; Kim Patnode, Milwaukee; Dan Nieuwenhuis and his fiancee, Holly Wallenfang, Kimberly; Jeff Nieuwenhuis, Darboy; Michelle Nieuwenhuis, Darboy; ten great-grandchildren: Bryce and Travis Gerrits, Hunter and Spencer Gerrits, Jaida, Delainey and Maitea Gene Gerrits, Riley Gerrits, Jacob and Hannah Nieuwenhuis.     He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce V. (Homman) Nieuwenhuis, June 18, 2002; and a brother, Francis Nieuwenhuis.
    The funeral liturgy for Eugene will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, January 5, 2007, at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1810 North McDonald Street, Appleton, with Father David Belongea officiating. Entombment will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the mass. A memorial fund has been established in Gene's name.

    After a long and beautiful life, Edith Cecelia Fuss, age 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Rennes Health and Rehab Center in Appleton.
    Edith was born on April 3, 1922 in the town of Hortonia, Outagamie County the daughter of the late John and Mary (Schuh) Nieuwenhuis and attended Hortonville schools. In 1941, Edith was united in marriage to Melvin R. Fuss and he preceded her in death on December 5, 1972. Together, they farmed in Shiocton for many years and later, was employed with the Toy Factory in Hortonville until her retirement. Edith was a longtime member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Appleton. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, crocheting, gardening, fishing, hunting, traveling, going to the casino, playing cards, and taking trips up north to the cottage on Pelican Lake. Edith was a very devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and lovingly shared in all their milestones, birthdays, graduations, weddings, births, and special events. Edith truly was the pillar of the family and will be greatly missed.
    Edith is lovingly survived by her daughter, Mary Fuss, Appleton; four grandchildren, Robin (Richard) Miller, Belgium, WI; Angela (Michael) Forry, Appleton; Christopher (Theresa) Herman, Fort Lauderdale, FL; and Mark Herman, Appleton; six great-grandchildren, Samantha, Dakota and Cole Miller; Kaitlin and Kiana Herman; and Maxson Forry; a sister, Agnes Nysse, Kimberly, WI; and numerous relatives and friends. Edith was also preceded in death by two sons, John and Lester; two daughters, Loretta (Roderick) Herman, and Carol Fuss; a sister, Helen (Kenneth) Guyette; two brothers, Francis and Eugene (Joyce) Nieuwenhuis; a brother-in-law, Willard Nysse; and her husband's parents, Rudolph and Mary Fuss.
    The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:30AM Friday, February 28, 2014 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2331 E. Lourdes Street, Appleton, with the Rev. Donald Zuleger officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Edith's family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Friday from 10:30AM until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established in Edith's name.
    Edith's family would like to thank the staffs at AMC, Appleton Healthcare and Rennes Health and Rehab Center for their love and care of Edith.
    We could not have been blessed with a more loving, kind-hearted, and devoted grandma. We hold wonderful and beautiful memories that will last a lifetime. Grams, you will forever and always be in our hearts. All our love, Robin, Angie, Chris and Mark.

    Agnes E. Nysse, age 90 passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 07, 2016 at Angels Grace Hospice Center in Oconomowoc, WI. She was born on January 16, 1926 in Hortonville, WI., the daughter of John and Mary Nieuwenhuis. She married the love of her life Willard R. Nysse on August 11, 1945 in Hortonville, WI. Agnes loved being surrounded by family and friends. She loved being active and enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, and in her younger days (up until she was 75) she enjoyed an afternoon bowling league. She also enjoyed an occasional afternoon with her daughters playing penny slots at the casino. She was a volunteer at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton for over 40 years. She made many friends while enjoying her varied activities. She spent many years gardening and growing beautiful flowers indoors and outdoors.
    Agnes is survived by her five children, Donna (Robert) Danielsen, Rochester, MN, Sharon Davison, Milwaukee, WI, Noreen (LeRoy) Young, Black Creek, WI, Ellen (Charles) Leuck, Fennimore, WI, and Gerald (Cathy) Nysse, Delafield, WI. She was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 9 step-great grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Willard on February 7, 1985, her two brothers Francis and Eugene, two sisters Edith and Helen, one step-grandson Michael Leuck, and one great-granddaughter Brooke Danielsen.
    A celebration of Life will be held on December 13, 2016 at ST. BERNADETTES CATHOLIC CHURCH 2331 East Lourdes Drive Appleton, WI., with Fr. Don Zuleger presiding. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:30.
    Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice or to St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Agnes's name.

    Hayley M. Guyette, 19, of De Pere died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon as a result of an accident. The daughter of Jeffrey Grassl and Cindy Mommaerts was born March 10, 1992 in Wausau. She was a graduate of West De Pere High School, Class of 2010 and was currently attending NWTC. Hayley was well liked by all who knew and loved her and will miss how she could brighten up a room with just her smile.
    Survivors include her parents, Jeff Grassl, Cindy Mommaerts, Hayley's stepfather, Luke Mommaerts, two brothers Jeffrey Grassl, Jr., Jacob Grassl, and sister, Gina Grassl, Hayley's boyfriend, Tyler Hackl and her grandparents, Doris Culver, Chum and Laurie Mommaerts, Mike and Joan Strass, Jean and Jack Grassl, and one great-grandmother, Marge Mommaerts. Survivors also include her aunts and uncles, Randy and Melanie Guyette, Mike and Debbie Guyette, Scott Guyette, Kari Guyette, Troy Mommaerts, Val and Jason Kelter, Michelle and Charles "Bud" Terrio, Mary and Andy Hawro, Melissa Grassl, John Grassl Jr. and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, James Guyette and great-grandparents, Cal and Esther Schroeder and Donald Mommaerts.
