Peter's mother Petronella Van De Hey (spelling of maiden name varies) w as the daughter of John Henry Vande Hey and Bernardina Bouwdewijns. John H enry Vande Hey's ancestory is traced back extensively to Holland in two bo oks: Wooden Shoes West and On Good Ground. Cornelius Liebergen was the son of Theodore Liebergen and Ceil Verbochel ( or VanBochel). Theodore Liebergen and, his second wife, Ceil "Nelly" Verbo chel were both of dutchdescent. Ceil had a daughter from a previous marrage to a Van Lannen nam ed Lena who married someone in Bay Settlement.

Theodore Liebergen and Ceil had at least two children:1) Henery born 1847 (?) in Holland, married Mary Van De Hey (Mary and Petr onella Van De Hey were sisters)2) Cornelius "Nelles" born July 8, 1850 in Holland, married Petronella "El len" Van De Hey
Cornelius was born in July 8, 1850 in Holland and was called Nelles by fam ily and friends. When he was three months old his parents arrived in America and settled in Bay Settlem ent, Town of Scott. Cornelius married Petronella "Ellen" Van De Hey (who was also of Dutch descent) on June 1 9, 1876 in Holland Town. She was18 years old. Cornelius and Petronella lived in Bay Settlement.
Petronella was born on June 11, 1858 in Holland Town, WI to Ardina (Bouwde wijns) and John Vande Hey. Her father, John, was born on September 25, 18 13 in Zeeland Holland. After John's first wife, Johanna Maria van der Rijd t, died (leaving him with three small children), Bernardina "Ardina" Bouwd ewigns was hired to take care of the children. Four years later, John and Ardina married. Soon after their marriage, the family took the long a nd perilous journey to America.
Cornelius died at the age of 76 from cancer of the liver on September 1 2, 1926. Petronella died in 1944 at the age of 86 of "old age" and is buri ed in Wrightstown.

Tesch, Rita Liebergen Schauer - Rita Liebergen Schauer Tesch, 85, died on March 10, 2007, after a long illness. Rita was born Oct. 18, 1921, to the late Theodore and Lena (Burkart) Liebergen. On July 19, 1947, she married Edgar Schauer in New Franken. He preceded her in death on March 21, 1972. On Sept. 14, 1974 Rita married Clarence Tesch. He preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 2006. Rita worked for the UW-Extension Program in Green Bay and farmed with her husband, Clarence, in Brillion until their retirement. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, square dancing and the time she spent with her grandchildren.
Rita is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carol (Ken) Puyleart, Green Bay; two step daughters and sons-in-law, Barb (Rod) Hinz, Brillion; and Bev (Don) Schumacher, Racine. Rita's 10 grandchildren were the light of her life, Chuck (Carly) Puyleart, Julie Puyleart, Dan (Lisa) Puyleart, all Green Bay; Mike (Maggie) Hinz, Green Bay; Michele (Rob) Stock, Collinsville, Ill.; Nathan Hinz and Matthew Hinz, Brillion; Andrew Schumacher (fiance Julie Lichon), Kewaskum; Laura Schumacher and Greg Schumacher, Racine. Rita is further survived by one great-grandchild, Aristana Hinz; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Earl (Bernice) Tesch, Brillion; Ralph (Marcia) Tesch, Green Bay; Wilbert (Caroline) Borchardt, Francis Creek; Chuck Tesch (special friend, Sharen Krepline), Brillion; Lavern Sconzert, Green Bay; many nieces, nephews and a special godchild, Scott VanLaanen.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1100 W. Ryan Street in Brillion. The Rev. Mathew Simonar will officiate. Burial will be in the Allouez Cemetery in Green Bay. Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral Home, 215 So. Main Street in Brillion on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and then at the church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral Home.

Leone was a homemaker whose fami ly was always the center of her life. She was the first and best teach er of her children and an attentive and loving grandmother. Marty w as born on November 15, 1919, to George and Mary (Ferrier) Liebergen in Gr een Bay. He was a life-long resident of the area. On May 24, 1941, Marty m arried the former Eileen A. Mercier at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, Gre en Bay. She preceded him in death on February 14, 1999. He served in t he US Army during World War II in the American European theater, Infantr y, in General Patten's 3rd Army 89th Division and received the Bronze Sta r. Marty was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Howard V FW Post #7534, of which he was a past Commander, NARFE Association, Concer ned Hearts, Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree, Council #163, and 4th Degre e, St. Jude Assembly Honor Guard. He also volunteered at the critical ca re desk at Bellin Hospital and was a Red Cross driver. On Friday, December 21, 2012, John James "Jim" Liebergen, 78, went home to be with his wife Mary Ellen for Christmas. He was born October 6, 1934 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, son of the late George and Mary (Ferrier) Liebergen. Jim graduated from Green Bay Catholic Central High School, Class of 1953. On May 23, 1959 Jim married Mary Ellen (Pensis) at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, Green Bay.
Jim served in the 32nd Division National Guard with an honorable discharged in 1962. He was employed at Schreiber Foods for 46 years. . Jim was a lifetime member of the St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, serving as an usher for 35 years. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Retired Men's club, AARP and the Green Bay Dart ball league. After retiring he worked at the Allouez voting site. For over 40 years, Jim sold programs at the Packer Home Games.
Jim and Mary Ellen enjoyed fishing and the outdoors at their summer place in Woodruff., WI, for 31 years. He also was an avid card player, he enjoyed crafts, and his specialty was making winter stocking hats which he shared with family and friends.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Kay (Deacon James) Barth, Thurmont, MD; and Laura (Ted) Rodriguez, West Point, VA; four grandchildren, Hillary (Micah) Puccino, Benito Rodriguez, Hannah Barth, and Noah Barth; two great-grandchildren, James Puccino, Aaliyah Puccino; sisters, Marion Schauer and Carol Stone; special friends, Barbara and Larry Kohl and Gary and Ann Northway; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ellen three brothers, Martin J., Bernard D., and Bernard F., a sister-in-law, Eileen Liebergen; brothers-in-law Earl Stone and Cletus Schauer.

Hilda was born in Wrightstown on September 20, 1913, daughter of the la te John and Antoinette (Kerkhoff) Liebergen. In 1938, she married Hubert C aptain at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton; he preceded her in dea th in 1988. Hilda was a Christian role model who was deeply committed to h er faith life. She lived each day by embodying her Catholic principles. F or many years, Hilda was an active volunteer and faithful member of St. Jo seph Catholic Church, and also supported missions and orphanages worldwid e. Near and dear to her heart was the St. Joseph Food Pantry, where she vo lunteered countless hours, and was honored to be the 1988 Volunteer of t he Year. Germaine P. Hutjens, 101, De Pere, passed away Sunday April 13surrounded by her family. The daughter of Peter and Johanna (Van Lannen) Liebergen was born July 18, 1912 in Wrightstown. Germaine married Henry Hutjens February 21,1933 at St Paul Catholic Church Wrightstown and Hank preceded her in death on June 3, 1991. Germaine was an active member of St Mary Catholic Church De Pere where she was a member of the Christian Ladies Society, Refunders Group and helped with the funeral dinners for many years. She also found great joy in meeting people through serving Meals on Wheels, as a prayer partner on the Rosary Team, and her active presence in visiting Nursing homes.
Germaine is survived by her children: Donald (Carol) Hutjens, Rose Ann (Gerald) Van Lanen, Doris Mancheski, La Verne (Fran) De Cleene, Janet (Ken) Krautkramer, Annice (Ron) De Cleene,Sue (Alan) Tetzlaff, Dale (Winnie) Hutjens. Grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grand children. Two sisters-in-law: Agnes Liebergen, Anita Hermsen. One brother-in-law: Myron Lotto. Numerous nieces and nephews. Germaine will be greatly missed by her best friend Angie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her brothers and sisters, grandson Al De Cleene, granddaughter, Tina Mancheski, great grandchildren Hannah Hutjens, Jessica Mancheski, and Jacob VanLanen.

She was born on April 29, 1914, to the late Peter and Johanna ( Van Lanen) Liebergen.She married Joseph Houpt on June 16, 1934, he preceded her in death in Ju ne of 1941, while he was racing in Manitowoc. Lorraine then married Norbe rt Weiland in 1942, he preceded her in death in 1990 of natural causes.Lrraine was employed at Smith Brothers Restaurant, Power Products and La ke Central Leather. She finally retired to spend more time with her childr en and grandchildren. She resided at her own home in Lakefield for many ye ars and then moved in with her daughter Faye for 9 years in Port Washingto n. Lorraine's next move was to Manchester Heights in Grafton, where she re sided for 20 years. She enjoyed her time at Manchester, where she co-host ed many events. She always had an open door policy and welcomed peop le to stop in for a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. Lorraine moved to Ga bles on the Pond in 2002, where she was treated as part of the family a nd loved by all.Lorraine is survived by her children, Wayne (Joan) Houpt, Faye (Dennis) St orck , Patti (Jerry) Strigel and Jane Winters. Bernadette Gehring, Freedom, age 90 passed away February 27, 2009, at Appleton Health Care Center. She was born December 10, 1918, daughter of the late Peter and Jenny (Van Lannen) Liebergen in Wrightstown. On May 7, 1938, she was united in marriage to Norman A. Gehring at St. Margaret Mary Church in Neenah. She lived in Freedom since her marriage and was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church and a former member of the Christian Mothers Society.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Vi (Len) Landwehr, Shawano and The Villages, FL; Pearl (Paul) Green, Freedom; a son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd (Sandy) Gehring, Freedom; nine grandchildren: Greg (Lynn) Landwehr, Chris (Andrea) Landwehr, Michael (Brenda) Landwehr, David (Cindy) Landwehr, Mark (Cindy) Green, Tom (Angie) Green, Todd (Lori) Gehring, Tracy (Bob) Gavronski and Tim (Kim) Gehring; also, nineteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Germaine Hutjens and three sisters-in-law: Agnes and Eileen Liebergen and Anita Hermsen.

Lorraine G. Geurts, age 101, passed away peacefully at Artisan Senior Living in De Pere, WI on Friday, June 17, 2016. She was born in Bellevue on March 12, 1915 to the late Michael and Delia (Liebergen) Heim.
She married Raymond J. Geurts on July 19, 1932, and they celebrated their 50th Anniversary in July, 1982, just a few years before he passed away on May 11, 1986. They farmed together in Bellevue for many years, and she was a very good seamstress, working for Green Bay Clothing well past retirement age. Also, she will be remembered for all the beautiful hand-tied quilts she made for all her family, relatives, and many friends. She was noted for being the best cook, especially her cookies, rhubarb custard pie and carrot cake.
Survivors include two sons and daughters -in-law, Donald and Starlyn Geurts, Mountain, WI , Terry and Marlene Geurts, Wabeno, WI, one son-in-law, Michael Dalebroux, Green Bay; and many grandchildren great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren along with one sister, Alice Whitney Danielski and one brother Leo Heim.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Trudy Dalebroux, and several grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Alma Van Rens-Baye, Evelyn Hyska-Sharp. Loretta Connelly and Erma Geurts; four brothers, Clarence Heim, Richard Heim, Gordon Heim. and Urban Heim.
Funeral arrangements for Lorraine will be on Thursday, June 23 at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Drive, Allouez, with visitation from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM and the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 AM with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating. Lorraine was a Charter Member of Resurrection Parish. DUE TO PARKING LOT CONSTRUCTION AT CHURCH- PLEASE USE THE DELAHAUT STREET LOT. Burial will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Urban H. "Urby" Heim, 83, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully at his home on March 7, 2006. He was born on June 12, 1922, to the late Michael and Odelia (Liebergen) Heim. Urban married the former Bernice Duquaine at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church June 3, 1944. She preceded him in death on June 13, 2002. He served in the United States Coast Guard during WWII. He was a charter member of the VFW Winiecki Post #9677. Urban was employed by the James River Corp. until his retirement. He enjoyed helping other people, spending time at the cottage at Boulder Lake, antique tractors & threshing machines, cutting wood and making booyah.

Erma E. Geurts, 84, De Pere, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family March 31, 2007. The daughter of Michael and Odelia (Liebergen) Heim was born June 12, 1922, in Green Bay. Erma married Arthur Geurts on Sept. 6, 1941, at St. Phillip Catholic Church in Green Bay. He preceded her in death July 7, 1999. Art and Erma owned and operated Geurts' Bar in De Pere for over 30 years. Erma enjoyed couples bowling with Art for many years. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Community. Erma was a person of faith and prayed daily for her family and friends. She was an avid Packers and NASCAR fan.

Clayton P. Liebergen, 80, Wrightstown, passed away peacefully at home, Tuesday, May 26, 2015, with his family by his side, following a long term battle with Parkinson's. The son of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Baeten) Liebergen, was born on December 18th, 1934. On June 9th, 1955, Clayton married the love of his life, Lois during a double-ring ceremony with his cousin Leo Nackers and Lois's twin sister, Alice. The two were lifelong members of St. Clare Catholic Church, Wrightstown, where he was an usher, and was a member of the Men's Holy Name Society.
Clayton dedicated his life to his family and his farm. He semi-retired from the farm in 1999, where his son Conrad, third generation farmer, carries on the family tradition. He was a volunteer firemen for the Hollandtown Fire Department for many years. He also loved caring for his horses, going bowling with wife and friends, and playing Sheepshead.
Clayton is survived by his wife, Lois, five children: Carol (Rick) Stuyvenberg; Mark (Jean Wall) Liebergen; Tim (Lou Ann Huss) Liebergen; Paula (John) Van Dyck; Conrad (Lisa Koltz) Liebergen; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and two on the way; sisters: Eileen Spice; Martha Van Oss; and brother-in-law, Cyril Nies. He is further survived by his nieces, nephews, Lois's family, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Martha Leick, one brother, Jasper (Myrtle Liebergen; four sisters: Florence (Norb) Gonnering; Della (Richard) Ver Hagen; Bonnie (Sylvester) Vissers; Delores Nies; two brothers-in-law, Jerome Van Oss and Les Spice.

On June 9, 1938, she married Bernard Tennessen; he survives. Eunice will be remembered by everyone for her sewing and crocheting, and her cooking and canning.

Ambrose "Sonny" Van Laanen, 83, Town of Scott, died peacefully at a local hospital on September 6, 2013, surrounded by family. Born on December 13, 1929, in Green Bay, he is the son of the late Earl and Maryleen (Liebergen) Van Laanen. On October 1, 1955, he married the former Harriet Kersey at St. Louis Church-Dyckesville. Sonny worked at FEECO as a machinist, until his retirement in June 1993. Sonny enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and feeding his birds. He also cherished times spent with his faithful canine companions, Buddy and Tootsie.

Roger M. Dorner, 74, Green Bay, died suddenly Sunday March 16, 2014. He was born in Luxemburg on October 25, 1939 to the late Michael W. and Leone M. (Burkart) Dorner. On September 14, 1963 he married Donna Rae M. Delveaux at St. Martin Church in Tonet. Roger was employed with Fort Howard Paper, Green Bay for 32 years, retiring in 1998. He was a member of St. Philip Church in Green Bay, singing in their choir and played an active roll in orchestrating their church picnics. Roger is best known for making his booyah aka: "Belgian Gold" serving many over the years. He loved to tinker at small engine repair, he was a member of the NABNB and the ROMEO Club and carried a delightful sense of humor that will live on forever.

He was born on Ju ne 27, 1944, in Green Bay to the late Martin and Eileen (Mercier) Lieberge n. He served in the U.S. Army from Jan. 1964 to Jan. 1967 in Germany. He w as a specialist assigned to the 124th Dental Unit. On Feb. 3rd, 1968, he m arried the former Susan K. Staszak at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Churc h, the first wedding in the church. David was employed by Georgia-Pacif ic West (formerly Fort Howard Paper Co.) for 37 years. He was a memb er of Sts. Edward & Isidore Catholic Church. He was formerly an assista nt Little League coach, Cub Scout leader, assistant scout leader and commi ttee chairman for Troup 1563 of Ashwaubenon for 20 years and advancement c hairman for Troup 1107 for the past five years. David co-chaired the fir st Nativity Church Thanksgiving dinner, worked with outreach delivering fo od to the needy, worked on the Family Life committee and ran the governme nt cheese program. Kimberly - Janice C. "Jan" Valentyne, age 76, of Kimberly, passed away after a gracious battle with ovarian cancer surrounded by her family at Cherry Meadows on Wednesday, July 11, 2018. She was born on January 12, 1942, daughter of the late Alvin and Cecelia (Kroner) Liebergen. On April 22, 1965, Jan married Dennis Valentyne at St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute.
First and foremost, Jan loved spending time with her grandchildren, they were her pride and joy and she had a unique relationship with each of them and loved them unconditionally. She coined her favorite sayings with them - "what happens at grandma's, stays at grandmas" and "It's okay to eat dessert first."
Jan loved the Green Bay Packers and was a proud season ticket holder. She also enjoyed following the Brewers, Badgers and Kimberly sports. In her downtime, she read and did crossword puzzles.
Jan graduated from St. John High School and was lucky to have a group of girlfriends from high school that still got together for "card club." She was a long time member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Kimberly. She will be deeply missed.

Donald M. Liebergen, age 70, of Appleton, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2013. Don was born on October 20, 1942, in Appleton, to the late Marvin and Hattie (Janssen) Liebergen. He married Susan Van Groll on September 18, 1965, in Appleton. Don was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He proudly served his country in the National Guard. Don was a well-known meat cutter in area supermarkets and butcher shops. In his younger days he enjoyed bowling, fishing and golfing. More recently, he enjoyed gaming, baking for family and friends and especially the time he shared with his granddaughters.

The daughter of the late Omer and Do ra (Hietpas) Liebergen, Mary Jane was born on Oct. 31, 1941, in Appleto n, Wis. The Liebergen family lived in Greenleaf, where Mary Jane attend ed grade school at St. Mary's Elementary School and graduated from De Pe re High School in 1959. Mary Jane married Benjamin F. Rottier on Aug. 5, 1 961, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenleaf. Ben and Mary Jane liv ed in De Pere their entire 40 years of married life together. Mary Jane w as very active at St. Boniface Church. She had worked at Country Kitch en in De Pere and was most recently employed at Schneider National for t he past 10 years. She enjoyed bowling, cribbage, and spending time with fa mily and friends.Mary Jane is survived by her loving husband, Benjamin; three sons, Gary (M ary) Rottier, De Pere; Terry (Lynne) Rottier, Ashwaubenon; Charlie (fian ce Tricia Hager) Rottier, De Pere; one daughter, Karen (Tony) Bloom, Gre en Bay; six grandchildren, Mark, Michael, Garrett, Benjamin, Abby, and Gen essa. Mary Jane is also survived by two brothers, Melvin (Carol) Lieberge n, Hollandtown, and Gordon (Bonnie) Liebergen, Greenleaf; two sisters, An na (Earl) Schmidt, Kaukauna; and Theresa (Ray) Rozmarenowski, De Pere. Ma ry Jane is further survived by Benjamin's family, three brothers, David (B onnie) Rottier, De Pere; John (Sue) Rottier, Oregon, WI.; and Greg (Joyc e) Rottier, De Pere; two sisters, MaryEllen (Dudley) Smith, De Pere; and L ois (Pat) Burns, De Pere; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents.Friends and family may call on Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, from 4 to 8 p.m. at O ur Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1305 Lourdes Ave., De Pere, and on Sat urday from 8:30 a.m. until the hour of Mass at church. Mass of Christian B urial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at churc h, with Fr. Conrad Kratz O.Praem officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Cal vary Cemetery, De Pere. Cotter Funeral Home, De Pere, is assisting the fam ily.

Age 60, Mary Jane was surrounded by her family at home as she went to be w ith the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, Janua ry 1, 2002. The daughter of the late Omer and Dora (Hietpas) Liebergen, Ma ry Jane was born on October 31, 1941 in Appleton, Wisconsin. Obituary:
Melvin Liebergen, 71, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2015 at Appleton Medical Center. Melvin was born on August 28, 1943 to Omer and Dora (Hietpas) Liebergen. On October 23, 1976 he was united in marriage to Carol Aerts at Holy Cross Catholic Church. He worked at Brillion Iron Works for over 42 years until his retirement. Melvin enjoyed fishing, playing cards, going out to eat and gambling. He also enjoyed going up north with his family and in his later years spending time with his dog Sadie. Melvin was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.
Melvin is survived by his wife of 38 years, Carol, 3 children; Kim (Marvin) Winkler, Brian (Amy) Liebergen, and Jamie Liebergen, four grandchildren; Payton and Preston Winkler and Jakob and Owen Liebergen, siblings; Gordy (Bonnie) Liebergen, Theresa (Ray) Rozmarenoski, and Anna Schmidt, brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws; Ben Rottier, Jane (Ron) Smith, Norma Aerts, Rose (Don) Coenen, Dennis (Mary) Aerts, Leo (Mary) Aerts, Bonnie Aerts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mary Jane Rottier, and brothers-in-law Earl Schmidt, Ron Aerts and Jerry Aerts, a niece, Nicki Verbeten, and a nephew Bob Schmidt.
The funeral liturgy for Melvin will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 4:00 PM at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer St., Kaukauna with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Interment will be in the St. Paul Cemetery in Wrightstown. Friends may call on Wednesday, from 2:00 PM until the time of the service at the church.
