    Evelyn M. Dietz, (Mrs. Louis), Appleton, age 96, passed away Friday September 10, 2004. Evelyn was born January 8, 1908, in Appleton the daughter of the late John and Mary (Leinwander) Ashman and has been an Appleton resident all of her life. She was devoted to her family and left high school early in order to help support her siblings. Prior to her marriage, Evelyn was employed by the Post-Crescent for 8 years. She was united in marriage to Louis L. Dietz on October 15, 1934, sharing 58 years together before his death on February 17, 1993.
    Evelyn was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, St. Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary, and a 75-year member of the National Catholic Society of Foresters. Evelyn loved to spend time with family and friends, especially the wonderful times at the family cottage on Loon Lake. She enjoyed many activities including traveling in Europe and the States, golfing, and belonging to several Bridge, Sheepshead, and Poker Clubs over the years.
    She will be deeply missed by her seven children: Claudette Dietz of the Town of Harrison, Richard (Sandy) Dietz of New London and their children Karie (Jamie) Oratch, Wendy (Tim) Schmidt, and Joe (Connie) Keberlein; Frank (Donna) Dietz of Darboy and their children Darla, Dana, and Daren Dietz, and Brad and Greg Cullen; Warren (Nancy) Dietz of the Town of Menasha and their children Mark (Sue) Dietz, Marcia and Shelley Dietz, and Mike (Michelle) Dietz; Russ (Joan) Dietz of the Town of Menasha and their children Tony (Pam) Dietz, Jessie and Jake Dietz; Patricia (Chuck) Schreiter of Darboy and their children Kevin (Kris) Schreiter, Neal Schreiter, and Carey (Kyle) Pederson; and Lynn (Steve) Durnil of Winneconne and their daughter Heather (Mitch) Edwards; and 25 great grandchildren.
    In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by a grandson Paul Dietz in 2001, three sisters: Esther Van Roy, Veronica Hamm, and Gertrude Kelly and a brother Earl Ashman.
    The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 11AM Monday, September 13, 2004, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 202 E. Fremont St., with Fr. Norm Krutzik officiating. Friends may call directly at the church (Sacred Heart Room) from 10AM Monday until the time of the service. Evelyn will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
