Obituary:
Carol Jean Shepardson, age 72, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Hospital with her family at her side. The new address for the retired Postmaster of Hortonville is Heaven. She was born October 16, 1939 in the town of Center, daughter of the late Elmer and Emma (Knaack) Schroeder. Carol was a 1957 Hortonville High School graduate. She served as the Postmaster of Hortonville until her retirement, and loved to travel the world over.
Carol is lovingly survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lori (Scott) Whitman, Hortonville; and the joys of her life, her grandchildren, Linsi, Lucas and Leesa Whitman and Jason Shepardson. Her special companion, since March 18, 2004 Jerry Vander Zanden who made her life worth living again, and her dog Mitzi, a sister, Donna Lamers, Little Chute; two sisters-in-law, Elaine and Ramona Schroeder, both of Appleton; and a brother-in-law, Kenny Lippert, Neenah; Carol will be joining her son, John Shepardson who preceded her in death and her three brothers, Donald, Lloyd and Ralph Schroeder and by two sisters, Dorothy Warning and Marion Lippert.
A celebration of her life will be held 5 pm Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Valley Funeral Home. Carol's family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:30 pm until the time of service.
Per Carol request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of ones choice.
