    Romuald Shorty Verboomen, 92, of Sturgeon Bay, died early Sunday morning at his home.
    He was born February 7, 1917 in Kaukauna, the son of the late Andrew and Mary (Heindl) Verboomen. Following high school and two years at Salvatorian Seminary at St. Nazianz he graduated from St. Johns University in Collegeville, Minnesota with a B.S. in Philosophy. He was a weatherman and pilot during WWII in the Army Air Corps, and taught weather to pilots. He married Kathleen M. Willmett on May 26, 1942 in Junction City, Kansas. She preceded him in death on November 24, 1962 in Madison, Wisconsin.
    Shorty did some farming in Kaukauna, and worked at the Institute of Paper Chemistry in Appleton. He worked in Sturgeon Bay as a engine specialist. After retiring in 1979, he taught engine repair at NWTC.
    He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay, the Knights of Columbus, and was a life member of the American Legion. He loved photography, film developing and printing, traveling, card playing, reading, hunting and fishing, taxidermy, and keeping history of residents of Orchard Valley Apartments.
    Survivors include his two daughters, Kathleen Moller of Sturgeon Bay, Mary Burns of Tavares, Florida; grandchildren, Marc Frick, Adam (Marie) Burns; great-grandchildren, Daniel Burns, US Navy, Michael Burns; brother, Paul (Jane) Verboomen of Lakewood, WI, Carl (Linda) Verboomen of Wrightstown; sister-in-law, Roseann Verboomen; many nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday (December 1, 2009) at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay.
    Friends may call at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay on Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and at the church on Tuesday morning from 10:00 until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. There will be a parish wake at 6:30 p.m. Monday evening at Huehns Funeral Home.

    Carl Verboomen died peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 31. He was the youngest son of Mary (Heindl) and Andrew Verboomen. He was a life long member of St. Clare Church in Wrightstown. He was employed at Channel 5 as a transmitter engineer for 31 years, retiring in 1986. After retirement he drove school bus part time for Lamers Bus Service until 2001. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion Post, 436, in Wrightstown. In 1967 he married Linda Moran at Resurrection Church in Green Bay. He enjoyed deer hunting, bowling, golfing, fishing, and time spent with family.
    He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda, two children: daughter, Paula, (John Loew) in Pewaukee, WI, and son, Mark, at home. He is also survived by his grandson, Emmett Loew in Pewaukee; sister-in-law, Jane Verboomen, De Pere; brother-in-law, TJ (Kathy) Moran in Ojai, CA, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Romuald (Kathleen), Clarence (Roseann), Leonard, Paul and sister, Josephine (John Stienen) and his in-laws, Eddie and Betty Moran.
    Family and friends may visit St. Clare Parish-St. Paul site, 437 Main St., Wrightstown, on Monday, April 6, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at 11:00 a.m., with Fr.     Mark Verboomen died peacefully at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 with his family at his side. He was born November 10, 1970 in Green Bay to Carl and Linda (Moran) Verboomen. He graduated from Xavier High School in 1989 and attended Fox Valley Technical College. He was a machinist for Ariens Manufacturing and for the past 20 years was a machinist at Van Zeeland Manufacturing in Little Chute.
    He enjoyed fishing, watching sports on TV, especially Brewers Baseball and Wisconsin Badger Football, and spending time with his friends at his trailer in Elcho.
    He is survived by his mother, Linda, in Wrightstown; his sister, Paula and brother-in-law John Loew in Pewaukee; and his nephew Emmett Loew, also in Pewaukee. He is also survived by many cousins, friends, and other relatives.
    He was preceded in death by his father, Carl, his grandparents Mary and Andrew Verboomen and Edgar and Betty Moran as well as his God parents, Clarence and Roseanne Verboomen.
    Family and friends may visit at DeWane-Cotter Funeral Home, 711 Main St, Wrightstown, on Friday, November 17 from 3:00pm until the time of memorial service at 6:00pm with Deacon Ken Kabat officiating. Burial will be held at St. Paul Cemetery, Wrightstown. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.

    ERROR ? 2000 Appleton Post Crescent; Eleanor Vanden HeuvelWas called to her heavenly reward on Friday, November 17, 2000. She was bo rn on May 10, 1917, in Little Chute to Henry and Marie (Van Gompel) Verbet en. Eleanor was a graduate of both St. John's Grade School and High Schoo l. On May 30, 1941, she married her forever love, Bob Vanden Heuvel. In 19 47 they moved to Wrightstown, and together operated Van's Food Market unt il 1974. Eleanor was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Wrightstow n, where she participated in Christian Mothers. Mom was also a member of W rightstown's American Legion Auxiliary Post 436.Eleanor spent her entire life helping others, starting as an adolescent st aying with her grandmother, and later in life taking care of her mother Ma rie, then taking her father-in-law Joe into her and Bob's home. The coup le enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, and spending time with their won derful friends and family.Her children and grandchildren were the most precious people in her lif e. She is survived by her children, Karen and Tom Zirbel; Connie and Dav id Schwalenberg; Tom and Jeanne Vanden Heuvel; and grandchildren, David a nd Lynn Zirbel; Sarah Zirbel and fiance Bob Schisel, Anna, Leah and Mar ia Schwalenberg; Emily Vanden Heuvel and special friend Cory Promer; and L iz Vanden Heuvel. Not to be forgotten are her sister, Millie Oskar; brothe r, Jerry, and sister-in-law, Jo Ann Verbeten; sisters-in-law, Helen Van Vr eede; Wynne Vanden Heuvel; and many nieces and nephews. The family wish ed to thank her special friends, including her card clubs, her Tuesday vis itors, Bill and Ethel Mitchler; her special angel Jan Johnson; her co-gran dma Grandma Schwally; and her Legion Auxiliary friends. She was preced ed in death by her husband of 57 years, Bob; her parents; Brother, Tedd y; Sister, Angie; mother and father-in-law, Joe and Anna Vanden Heuvel; br others-in-law, Harwood Hendricks, Kenny Jansen, Harvey Van Lankvelt, Don O skar, Vic Van Vreede, Jim Vanden Heuvel, Clarence Vanden Heuvel, Tommy Van den Heuvel, and godson, Paul Oskar.It wasn't until later years that her children realized she slept. Betwe en working in the store, sewing for her children, working with the auxilia ry, spoiling her grandkids and having fun with her husband and friends, wh en did she have time to sleep? Sleep in peace now, Mom.Friends may call at DeWane Cotter Funeral Home Sunday, 4-8 p.m., 711 Ma in Street, Wrightstown. American Legion Auxiliary service Sunday eveni ng at 7 p.m., parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. The visitation will conti nue after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home until the procession leaves f or church. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, November 20, 2000 at 1 0:30 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, Wrightstown with the Rev. Robert Ka bat officiating.
