Sister Georgiana

Obituary:
Sister Georgiana Werner, CSA, 95, a resident of St. Francis Home, 33 Everett Street, Fond du Lac, died at the Home on Monday, December 19, 2005. Sister Georgiana, one of six children, was born on November 5, 1910, in Allenton, Wisconsin, a daughter of George and Anna Becher Werner. Sister entered the Congregation of St. Agnes from Hortonville, Wisconsin, in 1924 and professed her vows on August 15, 1930. Eventually she would see two of her own sisters follow in her steps and join the Congregation of St. Agnes and also see a brother become a priest and member of a religious community. Sr. Georgiana recently celebrated 75 years of religious life, spending most of those years in service to other members of her community as a homemaker in Wisconsin, Kansas, and Illinois. In 1972 Sister moved to the Motherhouse in Fond du Lac where she served as a receptionist for many years. In her free time she took delight in volunteering at the Place 2B in Oshkosh and at the Salvatorian Mission in New Holstein. Sr. Georgiana is survived by a brother Joseph (Charlotte) Werner of Appleton and her sister Sr. Regina Marie Werner, CSA, of Nazareth Center in Fond du Lac, nieces and nephews, and by the members of the Congregation of St. Agnes, with whom she lived and ministered. Sister is preceded in death by a brother, Fr. Tim Werner, O. Praem, and two sisters, Dolores La Valle and Sister Donatilla Werner, CSA. Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2005, at S. Francis Home Chapel, 33 Everett Street in Fond du Lac. The Rev. Edward Sippel will preside. Burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 23, 2005. Visitation: Visitation will be held at Nazareth Court, 375 Gillett Street in Fond du Lac from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Thursday, December 22. There will be a prayer service at 1p.m.
