    Biography:
    AUGUST PAUL, JR., a substantial farmer and public-spirited citizen of Deer Creek township, who owns and cultivates a farm of 120 acres in section 27, is a native of Germany, and was born July 24, 1887, a son of August and Wilhelmina Paul, natives of the Fatherland. They came to America in 1869, settling in Watertown, Wisconsin, where they lived until 1875, then moving to Outagamie county and purchasing forty acres of land in Maple Creek township, where they have since added forty acres by purchase. Mrs. Paul died on this farm, October 8, 1907, aged sixty-nine years, and is buried in Maple Creek Cemetery, while Mr. Paul still resides on the old homestead and is seventy-one years old. On first locating on this land Mr. Paul, with the aid of his sons, chopped down trees, made logs and built a log house 16x16 feet, and a log stable. He had a yoke of oxen, two cows, a wagon, plow and drag, for his equipment, and with these crude implements developed his land into a good farm. Later he bought modern machinery and erected a large frame house and a 34x56 barn, as well as outbuildings and a barbedwire fence. August Paul, Jr., remained at home until he was twenty-one years of age, at which time he commenced working for wages, and so continued until marriage, December 15, 1891, when he was united with Miss Paulina Tesch, daughter of Julius and Johannah Tesch, who were also natives of Germany and came to America in 1872, settling in Caledonia township, Waupaca county, where they have resided ever since, Mr. Tesch being sixty-two years old and his wife the same age. They had seven children, and Mrs. Paul, who was the second in order of birth, was born while on the ocean, April 23, 1872. Mr. and Mrs. Paul have had six children: Frank, who died when six months old; Clara, Martha, Irvin, Edward and Leona. After his marriage, Mr. Paul continued to work for wages for three years, and he then purchased eighty acres of land in partnership with his brother-in-law in Liberty township, but after a year and six months, in 1899, sold out and moved to the property on which he now resides. There had been but thirty-five acres cleared of timber at that time, and a log house 14x24 feet stood on the property, and a post shed for cattle, and Mr. Paul now has seventy acres under cultivation completely fenced with barbed wire, a ten-room frame house, which he built in 1907, a frame barn 34x68 feet, built in 1901, and a number of substantial outbuildings. He does general farming, raises Jersey and Durham cattle, Poland China hogs and Percheron horses, and markets dairy products. He is independent in his political views, and served as a member of the school board for five years. He and his family are members of the Lutheran Church of Maple Creek township.

    Marlin "Gus" Paul, age 90, Bear Creek, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2014. He was born on April 14, 1924, in Bear Creek, son of the late Irvin and Clarice (Reinert) Paul. During his working years Gus farmed on the family farm. He served his country in the US Navy during WWII. He enjoyed playing cards, driving tractor and watching all sports.
    Marlin is survived by his son Robert Paul (special friend Ellen), Bear Creek; stepson, Gary (Linda) Knapp, their children, Terry and Sara Shiocton; a sister, Carol (James) Heiser, Atlanta, GA and a brother, Roger (Karen) Paul, New London. He is further survived a sister in-law, Beatrice Paul, Bear Creek and by many other relatives and friends.
    He is preceded in death by his wife Carmen (2010), a brother Norman, and a sister, Margaret Pues.
    Funeral services for Gus will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Borchardt & Moder Funeral Home, Shiocton with Rev. Greg Watling officiating. Burial will be in the Shiocton-Bovina Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
    The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff at Pine Manor for the care and concern they gave to Gus.

    Norman "Gabby" C. Paul, age 87 of the Town of Deer Creek, Outagamie County, passed away Wednesday morning July 10, 2013 at the New London Family Medical Center.
    As the son of the late Irvin and Clarice (Reinert) Paul, Norman was born on August 28, 1925 in Bear Creek. He graduated from Bear Creek High School in 1943 and began working on his family farm. He was united in marriage to Beatrice Flink on October 22, 1947, at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Clintonville. The couple moved to their current residence upon marriage. Norman's passion was farming, and he never really retired from it. He did, however, work for 38 years in the construction industry for Courtney & Plumber Asphalt and later for Murphy's Construction. Norman was a current member of Grace Lutheran Church in Sugar Bush. He loved sports, playing cards, and was an avid outdoorsman especially when it came to hunting, fishing, or logging.
    Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Beatrice; his children, Garry (Debbie) Paul, Bear Creek; Judith Paul-Jones, Delaware; and Jeff Paul, Bear Creek; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Nikki, Ashley, Jen, Becky, Kerri, Bryce, Sierra, Berkeley, Parker, Brent, Brandon, Abby, Megan, Aiden, Drew, Allison, and Jake; his sister, Carol (Jim) Heiser, Atlanta, Ga.; 2 brothers, Roger (Karen) Paul, New London; and Marlin "Gus" Paul, Embarrass.
    He is also survived by other relatives including nieces, Wana Bowen and Chris Casey.
    Norman was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Margaret Pues; and a sister-in-law, Carmen Paul.
    Funeral services will be held Monday, July 15, 2013 at 11 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Sugar Bush, with Rev. Preston Heuer officiating. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery in Clintonville.
    Friends may call from 4 - 8 PM Sunday at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory in Clintonville and at the church on Monday from 10 AM until the time of the service. An online guestbook can be found at www.eberhardtstevenson.com.

Myrene was employed for many years as a bookkeeper in the Neenah area. After retiring she and George moved to Land O'Lakes. She was a member of VFW 8400 Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed needlepoint.
    Mrs. Stevens is survived by her husband, George; a step-daughter, Lynn (Chuck) Horn, Watersmeet, MI; sisters: Janice (Roger) Miller, Three Lakes, WI; Lorna (Ron) Piette, Neenah; sisters-in-law: JoAnn Popanda, Milwaukee, WI; Judy Klingbeil, Tigerton, WI; grandchildren: Steven (Corey) Horn, Sobieski, WI; Nichole (Kenny) Ansel, DePere, WI; great-grandchildren: Blayd, Kiana, Garret, Zander and Payton; God daughter, Diane Miller, Three Lakes; nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her sister, Eloise (correct spelling) Dusel and her infant sister, Carol Mae Knapp.
    A memorial service was held. The Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home, Eagle River, WI is serving the family.
