    Vander Putten, Wayne E.
    Wayne E. Vander Putten, 76, Allouez, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2011, at the Jack and Engrid Meng Residence of Unity Hospice, De Pere. He was born April 15, 1935, in Antigo, Wis., son of the late RJ and Agnes (Summers) Vander Putten. He graduated from Shawano High School in 1953 and from St. Norbert College in 1960, where he received a degree in English. He married Barbara Hansen on Aug. 22, 1959, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Green Bay.
    He worked as a news and sports announcer at WJPG (WNFL), known under the pseudonym of "Van Patten." He served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1961. In 1962, he opened the first private polygraph service in the area named Patten Polygraph Services. He joined St. Norbert College in 1964 as the Director of News Services and became the Director of Alumni Relations in 1965. Wayne was also a field announcer for the Green Bay Packers, as well as a statistician. He was involved in the Bishop's Charities games for many years. In 1970, he founded Information Processing Systems (IPS) with his wife, Barbara, and later took on Tom Quinn as a partner. Wayne worked at IPS until his retirement in 1992. He was also part-owner and sales representative for Copy Supply Company. He was an avid sports fan and also enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. He loved spending time at his cottage in Crivitz by the campfire.
    Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Barbara, Allouez; two children, Keith (Stacy) Vander Putten, Spencer, Wis.; and Mary (Michael) Schoeller, Suamico; five grandchildren, Brittney, Dakota, Brooke, Clay and Daniel; brother, Gerald Vander Putten, King, Wis.; sisters, Mary (Walter) Chapman, Janesville, Wis.; Margaret "Peggy" Soffian, Alameda, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; two half-sisters, Betty Bodde and Carole Schubart Deising; and in-laws, Clyde and Norine (Deviley) Hansen.
    Family and friends may call Tuesday, July 26, 2011, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, where there will be a Parish Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Drive, Allouez, from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of Mass. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday at church, with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com.
