Affidavits from: Martha Rickert says Daniel died 1881. John E. Hughes (son of Edward Jr - Daniels Brother) says Daniel died winter 1881, too young to remember the wedding but remembers the news of his death when it came to his father. Mrs Susan Gardner- knew both of them before marriage living in Freedom. Mrs Mary Garvey and M. H. Garvey said they knew both living in Freedom.

Oshkosh Northwestern, Tuesday, March 16 1937 Rites are held Pine River Woman------Pine River Wis - Special
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the church under the direction of the Rev. William Blake, for Mrs. Martha Schenk, 85, who lived for the last seven years with her daughter, Mrs. Milo Waid. Martha Jane Baker Schenk was born in Indiana July 1, 1951, and came with her partents to Medina, Wis. when she was but 5 years of age. Later she moved to Shawano County where she spent most of her life. She was the mother of 12 children, of who seven survive, Margaret, of Pine River; Daniel of Milwaukee; Anna and Andrew , Antigo; Dora of Fernwood; Blaine of Oconto and Estelle of Bowler. There also are 38 grandchildren and 38 greatgrandchildren.

Martha married Hughes, Daniel 17 Jun 1868. Daniel (son of Hughes, Edward and Ward, Ann) was born Abt 1840, , , , Ireland; died Abt 1879, Freedom, Outagamie, Wisconsin, USA. [Group Sheet]
