    Biography:
    FREDERICK CHRISTIAN WARNING, whose fine farm of seventy-five acres in Greenville township is located on Hortonville Rural Route No. 19, is a native of the Fatherland, having been born in Mecklenburg-Schwerin, October 4, 1850, a son of Frederick and Anna (Bauer) Warning. The family came directly to Wisconsin on first locating in this country in 1883, and settled in Hortonville, where Frederick Warning died nine days later, and his widow survived him until only 1892. Frederick Christian Warning attended the schools of his native country, and when fourteen years of age he started to work as a farm hand. He served the three customary years as a member of the regular army, and was married in Germany, coming to America about five years later. He worked on the railroad for about nine years off and on and also did. some farm work, and in 1892 he purchased his present farm of seventy-five acres. His farm is well cultivated, neatly fenced, and fully equipped with substantial buildings, including a modern residence, and the size of the crops that he sends to market testify to Mr. Warning's ability as an agriculturist. He is a member of the Lutheran Church, and is independent in politics, having never had any aspirations for political preferment. On November 1, 1878, Mr. Warning was married to Mary Scharf, who was also born in Mechlenberg-Schwerin, Germany, May 20, 1854, daughter of John and Mary (Berkenhauer) Scharf, natives of that country, who came to Hortonville in 1883 and here spent the remainder of their lives, the father dying about 1898, and the mother in 1893. Mr. and Mrs. Warning have had four children: Anna, born August 1, 1879, wife of Emil Magedanz, of Hortonia township; Minnie, born March 10, 1884, wife of Harry Marcks, a farmer of Greenville township; and Otto, born November 9, 1885, and Herman born August 17, 1890, the latter a carpenter, residing at home.

    MRS. HARRY MARKS DIED AT NEW LONDON - New London - The death of Mrs. Harry Marks, 48, occurred early Sunday morning at her home on the Hortonville-rd. Mrs. Marks had been in ill health for more than a year and during the past four months her condition had grown increasingly critical. Mrs. Marks was a member of Emanuel Lutheran church and Ladies Aid society. The funeral will be at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon at Emanuel Lutheran church with the Rev. Walter Pankow in charge. Burial will be in the family lot in Hortonville. Survivors are a son, Norman, and a daughter, Mrs. G.W. Stern, New London. There are three grandchildren, one brother, Otto Warning, Oshkosh, and a sister, Mrs. Emil Magadanz of Hortonville. Mr. Marks died about three years ago.

    Biography:
    FREDERICK C. WARNING, operating a general dairy farm of 130 acres in Greenville township, is one of the progressive and enterprising young agriculturists of this section. He was born at Hortonville, Outagamie county, Wisconsin, October 24, 1884, and is a son of Christian and Minnie (Bohnsack) Warning. Christian Warning was born in Germany, February 5, 1855, and his wife December 1, 1863, and they came to the United States in 1883, locating at Hortonville, and later removing to Bovina township, from whence they subsequently returned to Hortonville. For a time Mr. Warning worked for others, but eventually he secured land in Greenville township, and here he and his wife still reside. Frederick C. Warning was the oldest of a family of six children, and after receiving his education in the schools of Hortonville and Greenville township, he learned the carpenter's trade, which he followed for one season before his marriage. He then rented a farm near Hortonville for three years, after which he bought his present 130-acre property, which he conducts as a general dairy farm. He has been successful in his operations and his property is now one of the handsome farms of this section. On April 15, 1907, Mr. Warning was married to Barbara Paehlmann, who was born at Lebanon, Waupaca county, August 25, 1887, daughter of Nicholas and Margaret (Steinel) Paehlmann, natives of Germany, where Mr. Paehlmann was born September 24, 1843, and his wife July 8, 1852. They came to this country about 1878, locating at Lebanon on a farm, on which Mr. Paehlmann died June 30, 1909. His widow still resides on the homestead. Of their four children, Mrs. Warning is the youngest. Mr. and Mrs. Warning have had one son: Emil, born September 18, 1909. They are consistent members of the Lutheran Church, and in political matters Mr. Warning is a republican.

    Elmer E. Warning, Shiocton, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2007, at Rennes Health Care Center in Appleton. Elmer was born on February 7, 1923, in Hortonville, son of the late Edward and Lulubell Warning. On April 22, 1944, he was united in marriage to Erna Van Straten, in El Paso, TX. She preceded him in death on May 14, 2007. He worked for the Outagamie County Highway Department for over 30 years, retiring in 1986. Elmer loved to fish the spring walleye run. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Shiocton. He served his country in the U.S. Army, during WWII.
    Elmer is survived by his children: David (Barb) Warning, Shiocton and Wendy (Brian) Murphy, Shiocton; five grandchildren: A.J. (Diane) Adams, Hortonville; Benjamin (Laura) Warning, Gillett; Angela (Mike) Schneiderwend, Kaukauna; Peter Warning, Shiocton; Jacob Ratsch, Boyton Beach, FL; one great-grandchild, Cole Adams. Sisters-in-law: Agnes Brownson, Seymour; Dorothy Van Straten, Lilas Van Straten and Nona Van Straten all of Appleton; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Besides his parents and wife, Elmer is preceded in death by his sisters Helen (Edward) Mueller, Mildred (Henry) Stolzman and a brother Lester (Dorothy) Warning.
    Funeral Mass for Elmer will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2007, at 11 a.m. at St. Denis Catholic Church in Shiocton. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.     Vicki Jean Jentz was called to the waiting arms of her Lord and Savior on Thursday evening, March 24, 2016, surrounded by her family. Vicki was 63 and had struggled with an aggressive cancer for two years. She was born in Appleton on July 5, 1952, daughter of the late Lester and Dorothy (Schroeder) Warning. A 1970 graduate of Hortonville High School, she quickly found work at the former Aid Association for Lutherans, now known as Thrivent. She worked at Thrivent for twenty-eight years in all, having taken some time off for the birth of her boys, and retired in 2012. On July 17 of 1971, she and her high school sweetheart Bob Jentz, married at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hortonville.
    Vicki had more recently been a faithful member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Greenville, enjoyed time at the family's cabin near Aniwa, and shopping for antiques. For over twenty years, she and Bob were annual visitors to Rhinelander's Hodag Music Festival - they never missed it! Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered by all as a generous woman who always had time for others. Many knew her as their "go-to" person when they had a problem or concern. Her caring way, comforting manner, and sympathetic ear endeared her to many.
    She will be missed by her loving husband: Robert Jentz of Appleton; two sons: Brian Jentz of Appleton and Brad Jentz of Grand Chute; a granddaughter: Taylor Jentz; a sister and two brothers: Nancy (Dave) Gosse of Mercer; Roger (Cindy) Warning of Hortonville; and Randy (Lori) Warning of Hortonville; three brothers-in-law: Dan (Lesly) Jentz of Barrington, Illinois; Mark (Pam) Jentz of Appleton; and Jerry McKeever of Hortonville; her mother-in-law: Elaine Jentz of Appleton; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
    Vicki was preceded in death by her parents, her son Benjamin in 1986, a sister Sandy McKeever in 2005, and her father-in-law Harlon Jentz in 2006, and her beloved Labrador companion, Cheyenne.
    The Christian Memorial Service for Vicki will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at IMMANUEL EV. LUTHERAN CHUCH, W7265 School Road in Greenville, with Rev. John Qualmann officiating. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Saturday, April 2, from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Vicki's name.
    The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of Vicki's caregivers who have kept her comfortable during her illness. They include Dr. Baskaya and the staff of UW Madison, Dr. Timothy Goggins, Dr. Sara Meiers, and the staff at Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology, Dr. Kohl and the staff at St. Elizabeth Radiation and Oncology, and the staff of Affinity Health Rehabilitation Services. We will never forget your love and compassion.
    Vicki was a loving wife, mother, and sister. Those who loved her will miss her dearly, but are also comforted knowing that she is with Jesus as this Easter morning breaks.
