    KELSO FUNERAL The funeral of Mrs. Ida M. Kelso who died Friday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs G. V. Payzant 216 E. North-st. will be held at 9 o'clock Monday morning from St. Mary church. Burial will be in Kelso ccmotery at Kaukauna. Mrs. Kelso was born m Paynesvllle, Ohio and moved with her parents to Menasha when a child where she lived until her marriage to W. A. Kelso of Kaukauna in 1884. She resided in Kaukauna until 1919 when she came to Appleton. Her husband died two years ago. Since that time she made her home with her daughter. Mrrs. Kelso is survived by one daughter. Mrs. Payzant. a sister, Mrs. A. G- Tinkham, and a granddaughter, Ida Payzant.

    Mouser, Doris K. (nee Knickerbocker) - Doris K. Mouser, Little Chute, died peacefully on Saturday, November 7, 2009, at St. Paul Home, Kaukauna. She was born September 7, 1908, in Kaukauna. Doris attended Park School and Kaukauna High School. She was a member of the Appleton Squadron, Civil Air Patrol for a few years before deciding to become an infant nurse. Doris attended The Cradle in Evanston, Ill., and upon receiving her diploma was hired by a family in New York to be their personal nurse for a newborn. She was with them for six years then moved to Pittsburgh, PA, where she met Merle Mouser. They married Sept. 3, 1949, at the home of her sister, Ruth in Kaukauna. They moved to Chicago where Doris went to nursing school, graduating as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1955. She was the first L.P.N. hired by the Visiting Nurses of Chicago. They later moved to Green Bay living about 8 blocks from Lambeau Field. Upon Merle's retirement, they moved to Little Chute to be closer to family. Merle died in 1978. Doris was an active member of Peace United Methodist Church, Kaukauna. She had traveled a lot and loved to tell stories of her experiences and adventures.
    Doris is survived by her sister, Joyce Lueck; a very dear friend, Joel Pussehl, who was like a son; a niece, three nephews; many great nieces, nephews and cousins.
    Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Merle; sisters: Ruth, Liva, Eva and Laura; brothers-in-law: Alex Wolfe, Vic Thyrion, Francis Strom, Walter Vail, Jewell Toms and Herman Lueck.
    Funeral services for Doris will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2009, at 11 a.m. at PEACE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 2300 Wisconsin Ave., Kaukauna, with the Rev. Tim Albrecht officiating. Family and friends may visit at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to either Peace United Methodist Church or St. Paul Home both of which are in Kaukauna.
    The family is very grateful to the people at St. Paul's Nursing Home in Kaukauna for all of the compassionate care that they provided.
    Doris, you are gone but not forgotten.

    Laura Toms, Kaukauna, 96, passed away peacefully on Aug. 12, 2007, at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna. Laura was born Oct. 5, 1910, in Kaukauna, daughter of the late Willis and Dora (Kranhold) Knickerbocker. She attended school in Kaukauna through the tenth grade, and eventually married Jewell Toms on Jan. 19, 1934, in Waukegan, Ill. He preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 1986. Laura enjoyed a variety of crafts. Her special interest was knitting sweaters, suits, afghans, caps, mittens and most recently, dishcloths. She loved to please and care for others, especially babies and small children. She enjoyed baby-sitting, and did so well into her 80s. Music was a joy to her and she knew all the old favorite hymns by heart. Even though her vision was failing her, she didn't need a hymnal on Sunday morning. She knew all the words and said she "liked to make a joyful noise." Laura was also well-versed in the Holy Bible and could recite long passages from memory. Laura was a life-long, very active member of the United Methodist Church.
    Laura is survived by a son, Jim (Joyce) Toms, Rockford, Ill.; a granddaughter, Janice (Terry) Schlender, De Pere; a grandson, Joel Toms, Menomonie, Wis.; two great-grandsons, Tom Schlender and Dan Schlender; two sisters, Doris Mouser,Kaukauna, and Joyce Lueck, Appleton.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Jewell; a daughter, Carol (Martin) Witt; a great-grandson, Glen Toms, and sisters, Ruth, Liva, and Eva, and brothers-in-law, Merle Mouser and Herman Lueck.

    Joyce is now safely in her eternal home with Jesus. She died peacefully at St. Paul's Villa, Kaukauna, on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at the age of 97. Joyce was born in Kaukauna, WI, on October 27, 1917 to the late Willis and Dora (Kranhold) Knickerbocker. She graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1935. Joyce married Herman Lueck on May 19, 1937, and they shared 68 loving years together.
    She worked at Sears in Appleton. Joyce was a Den Mother and did volunteer work at Appleton Medical Center. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton where she was a Sunday school teacher, a volunteer and was an active participant in Eltergarten. Joyce was a caring, loving, sweet lady, who had a strong, devoted faith and was always close to her family.
    She is survived by her sons: Richard (Susan) and Thomas (Jean Robinson) Lueck; grandsons: Nicholas Lueck and Duran Ellis: great-grandson: Khorri Davis Ellis and great-granddaughter: Casey Ellis. She is further survived by numerous nieces, great-nieces and great-nephews.
    Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Herman; a son: David; her five sisters: Ruth Wolf, Liva Strom, Eva Vail, Laura Toms and Doris Mouser and sister-in-law: Lydia Grimmer.
    A funeral service for Joyce will take place at 11AM, Monday, October 5, 2015, at Zion Lutheran Church, 912 N Oneida St, with Rev. Lloyd Luedeman officiating. Friends may visit the family Monday at the church from 9AM until the time of service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.

    Juanita M. Knuth, of Appleton, age 95 years, died on Wednesday, February 2 2, 2006, at Franciscan Care Center. She was born July 11, 1910, in Ladysmi th, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Harry and Nellie (Donahue) Hanso n. As a child, she moved to Appleton and graduated from Appleton High Scho ol in 1928. Juanita was a secretary at Western Condensing, later kno wn as Foremost Dairy. She married Jack Benson, who was killed in 1945 serv ing in World War II and later married George Knuth in 1957 and he preced ed her in death in 1985.
    Juanita was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church and a member of t he Women's Guild.
    She is survived by her son, Robert (Bonnie) Benson of Antioch, Tennesse e; daughter, Jeanne Grose of Avon Park, Florida; two step-sons: Ronald (No rma) Knuth of Hortonville and David Knuth of Anchorage, Alaska; 15 grandch ildren; 28 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Juani ta is further survived by two brothers: Leslie Hanson of Jacksonville, Flo rida and Erwin Hanson of Weyauwega; sister-in-law, Evelyn Hanson of Applet on; and many nieces and nephews.

    Erwin L. Hanson, age 90, of Weyauwega, died on Friday, June 22, 2012 at his home. He was born on October 21, 1921, in Appleton, the son of the late Harry and Ellen (Donahue) Hanson. Ernie married Dorothy Rohloff in Appleton, on June 12, 1948. She preceded him in death on March 15, 1983. He later married Angela Burzynski, and she also preceded him in death. Ernie farmed his entire life in the Town of Lind and the Town of Weyauwega. He was currently a member of Christ Lutheran Church in West Bloomfield. He was a former member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Weyauwega, where he had served on the church council. He also served as the assessor for the Town of Weyauwega for many years. Ernie enjoyed playing cards, travelling, and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will always be remembered for his uncanny ability to accomplish anything he set out to do. Ernie is survived by two sons, Larry (Special friend, Patti Tilley), and Mark, both of Weyauwega; three step-sons, Lawrence (Lynn) Burzynski, Charles Burzynski, and John (Katherine) Burzynski; two step-daughters, Maryann (Brian) DeRoche and Claudia (Ronald) Kirmsse; four grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and numerous step grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Mary; three brothers, Floyd, Wayne and Leslie Hanson; a sister, Juanita Knuth; two step-children, Roberta (Jack) Boblich and Theodore Burzynski. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Christ Lutheran Church, N6412 State Rd. 49, West Bloomfield. Rev. David Meier will officiate.     Robert Richard McGilligan, age 66 of Springfield, OR died on January 2, 2012 following a massive stroke. He was born in Appleton, WI son of Thomas and Ida (Payzant) McGilligan on December 20, 1945. He was a pipefitter worker and all around handyman. He served in the U.S. Marines.
    Survivors include his daughter, Idasotera Ciganek, CA City, CA; siblings: Pat McGilligan; Neenah, WI; John McGilligan, Southfield, MI; and Tom McGilligan, SanClemente, CA and two grandchildren.
    Memorial services will be 1 p.m. January 6, 2012 at the Poole-Larsen Funeral Home, 1100 Charnelton Street, Eugene OR. The Poole-Larsen Funeral Home, 541-484-1435 is assisting the family.

    Bartels (Hanson), Shirley A.Shirley A. (Hanson) Bartels, of Appleton, age 67, died Saturday, July 1 6, 2005. She was born June 1, 1938 to the late Floyd and Edna (Vincent) Ha nson in Appleton. Shirley married Donald Bartels on August 29, 1955 and th ey enjoyed 45 years of marriage together. Don preceded her in death on Feb ruary 1, 2001. Shirley's home and family were the most important thin gs to her. She enjoyed spending time with her two dogs, Fallon and Bitsy a nd her birds: Cooper, Gizmo and Princess. Shirley was a secretary for t he CB Radio Club in Appleton and an avid country music fan.Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Donald J. and Joann Bartel s, Kaukauna; a daughter, Vickie Venus, Oshkosh; four grandchildren: Jessi ca Vincent, Tammy Venus, Stephanie and Andy Bartels, two brothers: Dave Ha nson, Freedom; Chuck (Debbie) Hanson, Appleton; and two brothers-in-law: N orman Bartels, Kaukauna; and John (Flo) Bartels, Freedom. She was preced ed in death by two sisters-in-law: Kathy Hanson and Ruby Bartels and a bro ther-in-law, Robert Bartels.Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 20, 2005, from 4 p .m. until the Liturgy of the Word Service at 7 p.m. Deacon Robert Vince nt will officiate. Burial will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. A me morial fund is being established. Shirley devoted her life to selfless ser vice for others and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
