    PETER A. MELCHER
    Peter A. Melcher, 64, 527 S. Story St., Appleton, WI salesman for the Mutual Insurance company, died at his home about 8:30 Saturday evening following three months illness.
    Melcher was born Oct. 8, 1884, in Menasha, and lived most of his life in Appleton. He belonged to St. Mary Catholic church, the Holy Name society and the Eagles lodge.
    Surviving are the widow; two daughters, Mrs. M.M. Forster and Mrs. Lawrence Brockman, Appleton; a son, Richard, Appleton; three brothers, Charles and William, Racine; and Henry, Kimberly; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Zapp, Appleton; Mrs. Antoinette Judkins, Kimberly; and Mrs. Agatha La Fond, Kenosha; and two grandchildren. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral home until the time of services. The rosary is to be recited at 7:30 tonight. With the cortege assembling at th3 funeral home at 8:30 Tuesday morning, the funeral will be at 9 o'clock at St. Mary church with the Rev. William Grace in charge. Burial will be in St. Mary cemetery.

    Ethel M. Brockman, 94, of Seymour passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Meadow Wood Assisted Living in Seymour. She was born February 14, 1920 to the late Peter and Theresa (Schmeider) Melcher. On September 25, 1946 she was united in marriage to Lawrence Brockman at St. Mary's in Appleton. He preceded her in death on March 30, 2010. The couple celebrated 63 years together.
    Ethel was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Black Creek where she helped serve funeral lunches for other parish members.
    Before she started raising her family, Ethel worked at Scolding Locks in Appleton making hair pins. Ethel played on one of the first women's baseball teams in Appleton. She enjoyed bowling, playing tennis, and attending various sporting events. Ethel also enjoyed a good card game and going out for walks.
    She is survived by her children: Ron (Betsy) Brockman, Black Creek; Dave Brockman, Black Creek; Jan (Steve) Vande Corput, Seymour; Joe (Pam) Brockman, Black Creek; Steve (Toni) Brockman, Black Creek; Nancy (Michael) Nagel, Black Creek; Karen (Ken) Coppens, Hortonville; Betty (Bob) Lehrer, Hortonville; 25 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law: Maurice (Ethel) Brockman, Darboy; sisters-in-law, Marie Brockman, Darboy; Louis Brockman, Appleton.
    She was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Nieland; sister, Fleta (Matt) Forester; brother, Dick (Dorothy) Melcher; four brothers-in-law: Lester, Gordon (Pat), Vilas (Germaine), and Jerome Brockman.
    Friends may call at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Black Creek on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 from 9:00 AM until the mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon with Father Theodore Hendricks officiating.     Richard Peter Melcher, age 87, died peacefully on Monday, November 26, 2012 at Rennes Health Care in Appleton.
    Richard was born April 6, 1925 in Appleton son of the late Peter and Theresa (Schmeider) Melcher. Dick served his country during WWII and was a tail gunner in a B17 with the US Air Force. Following his service to his country, Richard was united in marriage to Dorothy Nissen on September 11, 1948. They spent 60 wonderful years together and were faithful charter members of St. Thomas More Catholic Church of Appleton. Dick was also an avid Golfer.
    Richard is lovingly survived by a sister, Ethel Brockman, Seymour; and by many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
    A graveside service will be held 11:30 AM Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Highland Memorial Park, 3131 N. Richmond Street, Appleton with Rev. Gerald Falk officiating. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established for St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Online condolences may be made at: www.valleyfh.com
