    Biography:
    JOHN HAUG, who has been a resident of the city of Appleton for more than a quarter of a century, has been identified with the Appleton Brewing Company ever since its organization, and now is acting in the capacity of brewmaster. He is a native of Germany, and learned the art of brewing in the Fatherland, coming in 1882 to the United States and working at his trade in Ohio for four years at Bellefontaine, although he spent a short time on a farm. On coming to Appleton, he was first employed by Freis & Walters, and rose to the position of brewmaster in 1896, and when the Appleton Brewing Company opened its brewery in Appleton his services were secured in the same capacity. Mr. Haug went to Chicago in 1899 to attend the Wahl-Henins Institute of Fermentology, and he was graduated therefrom on June 1 of that year, when he returned to Appleton. Mr. Haug was married to May Alberty of Appleton, and they are members of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. They have had four children, of whom two are deceased. In politics Mr. Haug is a democrat.

    Genevieve (Jeanne) M. Ewens, age 85, passed away peacefully at home in Crandon, WI on February 4, 2016 after a brief battle with cancer.
    Jeanne was born on July 3, 1930 in Appleton, WI to the late Elizabeth (Nienhaus) Haug and John Haug. She graduated from Appleton High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 1953 from Alverno College.
    She married Frank K. Pfeiffer on September 8, 1956. He preceded her in death on January 19, 1973. Jeanne married Nicolas G. Ewens on June 22, 1975. He preceded her in death in August 1991.
    Jeanne is survived by her loving children, Mary (John) White, Julie (Mike) Pappas, Jane Borden, Robert Pfeiffer and Michael (Tina) Pfeiffer. She was the best Nana to her grandchildren, Patrick (Brit) Wincapaw, Jake (special friend, Amy Grogan) Wincapaw, Stephen Pappas, Angela Pappas, Julia Borden, Nathan Borden, Samantha Borden, Abigail Pfeiffer, Nicole Pfeiffer and Megan Pfeiffer. She is further survived by a sister, Elizabeth (John) Milhaupt, step-son Peter (Carole) Ewens, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
    Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and John Haug; in-laws, Matthias and Anna Pfeiffer, husbands, Frank Pfeiffer and Nicholas Ewens; sisters, Mary Rose Schwartz, Margaret Schuh and brothers, John Haug and Joseph Haug; nephews, Grant P. Schwartz and Mark (Boomer) Haug and grandson, Andrew Pappas.
    A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1793 Elm Ave., Wabeno, WI with Fathers Philip Dinh-Van-Thiep and Dave Schmidt officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am to the time of service at 11:00 a.m.

    Haug, Joseph Francis, December 24, 1931 - September 6, 2012, Resident of McKinney, TX
    Joseph passed away of natural causes with his family by his side. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia, of 55 years and their six children, Peter (Elaine) of Sacramento; Tim (Mandi) of Gilbert, AZ; Tish (Frank) of Roselle, IL; Maria (Shawn) of McKinney; Mike (Donnette) of Mission Viejo, CA; Jackie (Jeff) of San Jose, CA. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, Joey (Pete); Andrew and Samantha (Tim); Katie, Cory, Kyle, and Emily (Tish); Shawn, Morgan, and Dani (Maria); Alisha and great-granddaughter, Aubreanna (Mike); Taylor, Lauren, and Cole (Jackie). Joe was born in Appleton, Wisconsin as the youngest of six children. He is survived by his sisters, Mary Rose, Elizabeth and Jeanne. He is preceded in death by his brother, John and sister, Margaret, and his parents, John and Elizabeth.
    Joe attended St. Norbert College in De Pere, WI , but before he finished, he enlisted in the Army in 1953 and served in the 545th Quartermaster Service Company in the Korean War. Upon return, he graduated from Spencerian Business College in Milwaukee, WI. Joe then worked as a pharmaceutical sales rep in the Chicago area, owned a Coast to Coast Hardware store in Menomonee Falls, WI, and worked for Borden Dairy, in Albuquerque, NM. Joe volunteered with his wife and the Korean War Veterans for disabled veterans at the Dallas VA hospital. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan and owner of their stock.
    Services will be held on September 21, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church. 652 Redbud Blvd, McKinney, TX 75069. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to: www.stroke.org.

    William "Bill" J. Schuh, age 62, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center- Appleton. He was born to the late William and Margaret (Haug) Schuh on January 9, 1955. Bill graduated from Appleton West High School and St. Thomas University. On January 8, 2000, Bill married Marsha Tonn. He worked at Kohl's, the Post Crescent, and most recently he was self-employed.
    Bill enjoyed fishing, boating, and golfing. He was always up for a good time. Bill was a member of the Appleton Yacht Club for many years.
    Bill is survived by his wife of 17 years, Marsha; his son John (special friend Brittney) Schuh; his brother Mathew (Melanie) Schuh; his sisters: Betsy (Wally) Szadzinski, Theresa (Mark) Rechner and Peggy (Larry) Jachec; nephews: Ted, Bill, Tony, Conrad and Adam; nieces: Bess (Josh), Maggie (Kevin) and Kate (Derek); his dog Sparky; and many other relatives and friends.
    A memorial service for Bill will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be held at the funeral chapel from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service.
