Obituary:
Sherry Lee (Becker) Sturm, age 58, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at home surrounded by her family after a long, courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born on August 9, 1955 in Appleton to the late Robert Sr. and Ione (Feavel) Becker. Sherry was a caring person that would do anything for her family and friends. On November 10, 1979, she married Michael Sturm. She was an active member of St. James United Methodist Church of Appleton and enjoyed spending time with her "church family". Sherry was employed by the City of Appleton as a parking ramp attendant for 17+ years. Her ten grandchildren meant the world to her and all held a special place in her heart. Sherry loved shopping and going to rummage sales, black Friday shopping with her daughters was an over 20 year tradition. In the summer you could find Sherry cheering on her favorite drivers at WIR or visiting her sisters in Texas and Florida. Her beautiful smile and infectious laugh will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Michael, daughters; Amber (Shane) Bahr, Michelle (Randy) Price, and Kari (Michael Cruz) Sturm, grandchildren; Caleb and Aubree Bahr, Hunter, Dylan, Carter, Levi, Preston and Emma Price and Keaira and Kendra Cruz, also, Sherry's "puppydog" Shorty. Sherry is further survived by brothers and sisters; Robert Jr. (Denise) Becker, Mary Lou (Mike) Stubbe, Tammy Kappell, Jim (Barb) Becker, Debbie (Rick) Knapp, Donna Carow, and Ken Becker Sr.,. Sisters and brothers in law; Loretta (David) King, Charles Sturm, John (Sara) Sturm, Robert Sturm, Donna (Robert) Eggert and Edward Sturm, Godchildren; Jeremy Becker, Cory Kemkes, Mackenzie Stubbe and Lauren (Stubbe) Stephens as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Sherry is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents; Arnold and Louise (Martzahl) Feavel, August Sr. and Anna Laverne (Martin) Becker, father and mother in law, Theodore and Frances Sturm, sister in law, Mary Sturm and brothers in law; Paul and Thomas Sturm.
Funeral services for Sherry will be held at 11:00AM, Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at St. James United Methodist Church, 100 W. Capitol Dr., Appleton with the Rev. Mark Klaisner officiating. Friends and family may call at the funeral home, from 4:00PM until 8:00PM, Monday, June 16, 2014 and again at the church Tuesday, from 9:00AM until the time of service. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers; a memorial fund will be established in Sherry's name.
The family would like to thank Sherry's caregivers, husband Michael, daughter Kari, Michael Cruz, and Loretta King for their care and compassion. To Dr. William Guenther MD and staff at the Martha Siekman Cancer Center and a special thanks to Kurt, who always made sure she had her popcorn.
