    Death of Mrs. Henry Federwitz - Louise, wife of Henry Federwitz, of this city, passed away last Saturday morning at the age of 59 years. She had taken sick with the grip one week before her death which developed into acute pneumonia. The funeral was from the Lutheran church at Hewitt on Tuesday afternoon with interment at the cemetery there, having resided in Hewitt five years previous before coming to Marshfield. The family returned from Kaukauna last fall where they had resided for three years. Beside her husband she leaves the following family: Adolph and Otto of this city, Herman and Henry living on a farm near Hewitt, Mrs. Herman Dekarske and Mrs. William Wenzel, of Kaukauna, and Mrs. Fred Wetzel of Calumet county. All the children were here for the funeral.

    Obituary:
    The next event was of a sad nature, the death of Herman Rudolph Johann Gerhard Schwalenberg, which occurred after a long and painful illness, on the 19th of April in the afternoon.
    Mr. Schwalenberg was born on the 22nd day of January, 1853, in Town Rhine, Sheboygan County. In 1861 he came to the town of Rantoul with his parents where he lived for the past fifty years. Several years ago he began to fail in health. Medical aid improved his condition for short periods, but was unable to cure him. In March it seemed as though he was gradually gaining, but at the beginning of this month he was apparently losing his strength and at time suffered severely. He saw death approaching and was prepared to meet this grim reaper, which had no sting for him, as he was a true Christian. On the 19th inst. Quietly resting, he passed away at the age of 58 years, 4 months and 17 days.
    Deceased is survived by the widow and four children, two sons, Martin and Albert and two daughters, six grandchildren and three sisters.
    The funeral was held last Sunday at the Lutheran Trinity church with interment in the cemetery beside the church. The funeral was largely attended by relatives from Plymouth, Wayside, Appleton, Reedsville, Brillion and our entire community.

    Rinert A. Wenzel, Kaukauna, age 95, died early on the morning of Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at the Appleton Medical Center. Rinert was born August 21, 1914, in Kaukauna, son of the late William and Ida (Federwitz) Wenzel. He married the former Eva Hoffmann on June 28, 1941. Rinert was self-employed as a drywall contractor and real estate broker for many years. He was a longtime and faithful member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Kaukauna, the Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Barbershop Harmony Society, and served on the Kaukauna Police and Fire Commission for twenty-seven years. Rinert also served in World War II, having entered the Army Air Corps in January of 1943. After completion of the N.C.O. Physical Training Course in Florida, he was stationed at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut as a Physical Education Instructor for the R.O.T.C. cadets. Later he was stationed at Langley Air Force Base at Langley Field, Virginia, also as a Physical Education Instructor.
    Rinert is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Eva Wenzel, Kaukauna; a daughter, Susan Cash; two grandsons: Steven (Rena) Cash and Daniel Cash; two great-grandchildren: Markos and Kiera; a sister-in-law, Doris Kerry; four nephews: Larry (Joyce) Schubring, Allan Schubring, Carl (Marion) Wenzel, and Norman Koch; three nieces: Ruth (Gordon) Duscha, Joyce (Charles) Miller, and Betty (Bill) Boyce.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, a son William, brothers: Walter (Edna) Wenzel, Alfred Wenzel, Clarence (Lorraine) Wenzel, Oscar Wenzel, Hugo (Ada) Wenzel, Marvin (Ruth) Wenzel, and sisters Burgetta (Ervin) Koch and Mildred (Orville) Schubring.
    The Christian Funeral for Rinert will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2009 at TRINITY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 804 Grignon Street in Kaukauna with Rev. Karl Schultz officiating.     On June 15, 2015, God took our quiet, gentle mother to the home He prepared for her in Heaven. Anita M. Behnke was born April 6, 1920 in the Town of Rantoul, daughter of the late, Rudolph and Clara (Lerche) Biedenbender.
    On May 19,1938 John W. Behnke and Anita Biedenbender were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rantoul. He preceded her in death on February 25, 1988.
    For ten years Anita worked at a local cheese factory that involved babysitting the owners children and doing various household chores. After marriage Anita and John bought a farm upon which she was involved in all of the day to day tasks.
    Anita will be remembered by her family for the beautiful quilts that she made. She especially enjoyed traveling all over which consisted of the Niagara Falls in 1980 and going to California with a neighbor couple and stopping in Nevada to see Roy Roger's museum in 1978.
    She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, a member of the Ladies aid, serving as president, vice president, and treasurer at various times.
    Mom always prepared a big meal no matter what time visitors showed up. Family and friends that came to visit never went home hungry.
    Survivors include Anita's children, Glenn (Ronell) Behnke of Appleton, Linda (Gary) Streck of Forest Junction , Beulah (Jim Konrad) Behnke of Hilbert, and Coreen Behnke of Hilbert; a daughter-in-law, Marlys Behnke; twelve grandchildren, Jeff (Tammy) Behnke, Keith (Michelle) Behnke, Chad (special friend, Dana) Behnke, Sheri (Greg) Chronis, Scott (Katie) Behnke, Amy (Jeremy) Ryan, Barry (Angela) Streck, Tammy (Brian) Liegl, Dale Streck, Michael (Faye) Fay, Pamela Fay, Brad (Jen) Behnke; twenty-two great-grandchildren, Jacob, Kaylee, Trevor, Bryce, Kameron, Zachary, Maxwell, Samuel, Elizabeth, Evan, Alex, Cody, Bradyn, Corey, Logan, Kolin, Sofie, Quinton, Maygen, Leah, Breanna, Faith; two step-great-grandchildren, Jacob and Hannah Block; two sisters-in-law, Ilene Behnke and Anne Behnke; brother-in-law, Darrol (Betty) Behnke; a niece, Julaine (Chipper) Eick; and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.
    In addition to her parents and husband, John, she was preceded in death by her son, Roger Behnke; her brother, Marvin (Irma) Biedenbender.
    Funeral Services will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 19, 2015 at St. Peter Lutheran Church (43 N. 3rd Street) in Hilbert with the Rev. Timm Heath officiating. Burial to follow in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at church from 10:00 am to 12:45 pm on Friday, June 19, 2015.
    A memorial fund has been established in Anita's name.
    Anita's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Pastor Tim Heath for the many visits and many prayers, Dr. Tipler for the wonderful care over the years, and the caregivers at Chilton Care Center and Century Ridge Assisted living staff, especially Kim, for the outstanding care and compassion shown to their mother. The family would especially like to extend a special thanks to Sandy and Joe Schumacher for keeping their mother company and lending a helping hand when needed.

    Lucille R. Powers, 98, passed into the loving arms of her Savior on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at Century Ridge, after a short illness. Lucille was born in Hilbert, Wisconsin, on December 23, 1910, daughter of the late George and Henrietta (Schwalenberg) Mathes. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Hilbert. Lucille was united in marriage to Edward Powers on June 2, 1951, in Washington. They resided in Portland, Oregon, where Lucille was employed at Jantzen Clothing for many years. Lather they moved to Bend, Oregon. Ed preceded her in death on March 2, 1986. Lucille later retired in Sun City West, Arizona, where she was very active at the Senior Center making crafts and socializing with the many friends she made in Sun City. In 1999, Lucille returned to the Chilton area to be near her family. She was married to Otto Arndt July 6, 1930, in the town of Woodville. She and her husband operated Arndt's Meat Market, Brillion for 40 years. Mr. Arndt preceded her in death in 1971. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran church, Ladies Aid Society, School Club and Ladies Mission Society.
    Survivors include a son, Clayton of Brillion, a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Mariann) Durig and a brother, Elmer of Hilbert; a sister, Mrs. Roman Broehm of Rt. 1, Menasha and nine grandchildren.

Ru ben was born June 7, 1918, in Calumet County, Wisconsin, the son of the la te Rudoph and Amelia (Mathes) Schwalenberg. On February 1, 1942, he marri ed Ruby Pautz at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hilbert. He was employ ed at the AAL Insurance for Lutherans (Thrivent) for forty years, retiri ng in 1982.     Larry M. Schubring, age 68, loving husband, father and grandfather died suddenly May 2, 2011, at home. He was born October 18, 1942, in Appleton the son of the late Orville and Mildred (Wenzel) Schubring. A 1960 graduate of Kaukauna High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served as a naval corpsman for three years. After an honorable discharge, he worked as a boring bar operator at Giddings & Lewis - Bickford Machine Tool Co. in Kaukauna for 22 years and then at KimTech in Neenah for 19 years before retiring in 2003. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, Kaukauna, and a member of American Legion Post 41. A St. Louis Cardinals baseball and Green Bay Packers football fan, he enjoyed woodworking, watching "CSI" and "Law and Order" on TV and playing games on the computer.
    He is survived by his wife of nearly 44 years: Joyce (Hackbert) Schubring; two daughters and sons-in-law: Stephanie and Aaron Bloy of Peachtree City, Georgia, and Susan and Phillip Hau of Combined Locks; two granddaughters: Elizabeth and Olivia Bloy; a brother: Allan Schubring of Kaukauna; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marion and Carl Wenzel; as well as other relatives and friends, especially his church "family."
    The Christian Funeral for Larry will be held at 11 a.m. at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, 804 Grignon Street in Kaukauna, on Saturday, May 7, 2011, with the Rev. Timothy Wilkens officiating. Complete military honors will follow, and burial will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.     Allan Schubring, age 70, of Kaukauna, passed away at Appleton Medical Center after a brief illness on Tuesday, November 18, 2014. He was born on April 1, 1944, in Appleton, the son of the late Orville and Mildred (Wenzel) Schubring. Allan was a member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Kaukauna. For those that knew him, he was a strong man. Through all the challenges that he has faced through life, he conquered them all. He lived his life without complaint, and had a smile for everyone always. He loved hot weather - the hotter the better. One of his greatest joys was sitting in the sun. Another great joy of his was his family and friends; there was no lack of conversation, and always good humor.
    Allan is survived by his sister-in-law, Joyce Schubring; nieces: Stephanie (Arran) Bloy and their children Olivia and Elizabeth Bloy and Susan (Phil) Hau; dear friends: Barb (Tom) Dorn, Eric (Annette) Beach, Tina Beach and Angela Beach.

    Susan J. Cash, age 68, of Kaukauna, passed away on Friday, December 25, 2015. She was born on May 5, 1947 in Kaukauna to the late Rienert and Eva (Hoffmann) Wenzel. She graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1964. After her high school graduation she attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison with the initial intent of becoming a nurse. However, during her time at the university she found her true passion in radio broadcasting.
    Susan and her family left Wisconsin for Rochester, Minnesota; they lived there for nearly fifteen years. While living there she was employed with KOLM/KWWK Radio Station. Eventually Susan and her family returned to Wisconsin and she retired from WAPL/WHBY Radio Station after twenty-four years. Radio and broadcasting was a true passion for Susan, she also enjoyed old movies and reading. Her fondest memories where those spent with her grandchildren; especially being able to watch them play. She also had a soft spot for her furry friend Snickers.
    She is survived by her loving sons, Dan and Steven (Rena); her four grandchildren, Markos, Kiera, Christian and Arianna and her dear friend Pat Schmidt.
    In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her infant brother.
    The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 starting at 11:00 am at ST. KATHERINE DREXEL PARISH, ST. MARY CHURCH, 119 W. Seventh Street, Kaukauna. A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday starting at 9:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am with Rev. Jerry Pastors officiating.

    Dallas G. Schwalenberg, age 69, of Potter, died unexpectedly, on Saturday, January 31, 2009, at the Calumet Medical Center in Chilton. He was born April 3, 1939, in Appleton, son of the late Armand & LaVerna (Hillmann) Schwalenberg. He married Mary G. Gradinjan on January 20, 1969, in Milwaukee, WI. For 45 years, he worked for Chilton Metal Products-Western Industries, where he started as a press operator and worked his way to become General Manager and Vice President of Chilton Products. After retirement, he continued to work as a consultant for Western Industries.
    Dallas was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Rantoul and also served as an adviser for the LYF in the past. He was a former member of the Potter Fire Department, Potter Community Association and Village of Potter Trustee. He was a Charter Member of the Calumet County Sno-Riders and former member of Calumet County Civic Association.
    Dallas was an active board member of Chilton Memorial Hospital and Calumet Medical Center. He was a Charter Member and secretary of Calumet Area Community Health Foundation and Chilton Chamber of Commerce. He was a board member of the Farmers State Bank of Potter, F&M Bank and Citizens Bank.
    Dallas loved cars, was an avid open wheel race fan and owner, and belonged to the Wisconsin Jaguar Club and Corvette Club. Before his love of cars and racing; he also raced Class C snowmobiles throughout the area. He owned 'Signs by Dallas' hand painting many business signs, vehicles and logos around the area.
    Survivors include his wife: Mary; two daughters: Denyse (Travis) Harding of Cumming, Georgia, and Darcie (Craig) Schwalenberg-Kesler of Potter; three grandchildren: Alyssa and Alannah Harding and Mason Kesler. Dallas was also waiting with anticipation for his second Kesler grandson who is expected in April. He is further survived by a brother: Deane (Maryann) Schwalenberg of Champlin, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church-Rantoul, N6078 W. River Road, Hilbert, with the Rev. Timothy Benninghoff officiating.     Harvey A. Schmidt, age 87, of Chilton, died on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at the Chilton Care Center in Chilton. He was born April 3, 1927 in Chilton, son of the late Martin & Leona (Mathes) Schmidt.
    Harvey proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1953 until 1955. Following his discharge, he married Loa Ann Steinmetz on June 17, 1959 at the Chilton Presbyterian Church.
    He had farmed in the Town of Charlestown until his retirement when he began driving for the New Hope Center in Chilton. He was a member of the Chilton American Legion and Trinity Lutheran Church in Rantoul where he had served on various boards in both the church and school.
    In his free time, he enjoyed time spent hunting and trapping, and also bowling with friends.
    Survivors include his wife: Loa Ann; his children: Julie (Bill) Kocourek of Brillion, Lori (Jayson) Monroe of Winneconne; 3 grandchildren: BreeAnn Schmidt, Jordan Monroe & Elijah Monroe; 4 siblings: Darlene Koehler, Delbert (Joan) Schmidt, Eileen (Glenn) Beers, Richard (Audrey) Schmidt; a sister-in-law: LaVerne Schmidt; and a brother-in-law: John Karls.     Darlene Koehler, age 86, of Chilton, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2014 at Chilton Care Center. She was born on June 18, 1928, in Charlestown, the daughter of the late Martin and Leona (Mathes) Schmidt. Darlene was involved on the family farm in Charlestown for over 40 years, and also owned the Chilton Downtowner from 1975 until 1981. Darlene worked at the Chilton Care Center for 18 years, starting in 1985 and eventually becoming a CNA, fulfilling her dream to care for the elderly in a very loving and compassionate way. She had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and offered good Christian advice to many. Darlene was a member of the Brillion Community Church, and Eagle Club in Chilton. The smell of homemade bread and cookies baking in her home will also be missed.
    Darlene is survived by her children: Barbara Steudel, Larry (Sue) Koehler, and Robert (Lisa) Koehler; daughter-in-law Susan Koehler; grandchildren: Jill Koehler; Luke (Bobbie) Steudel and Lorraine (Daniel) Flores; Jeremiah Koehler, Rhainnon Koehler, and Katie (Mitch) Fowler; Brittany Sack, Tyler (Jessica) Sack, and Mattece Charlton; six great grandchildren; siblings: Delbert (Joan) Schmidt, Eileen (Rev. Glen) Beers, and Richard (Audrey) Schmidt; and sisters-in-law Laverne Schmidt and Lou Ann Schmidt. She is further survived by special friends, Kay Hechel and Jane Hertel, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

    Martin R. "Marty" Schmidt, age 76, of Chilton, died on Thursday, December 9, 2010, at the Homestead Care Center in New Holstein. He was born August 9, 1934, in the Town of Charlestown, son of the late Martin & Leona (Mathes) Schmidt. He married his best friend and soul mate, LaVerne Geiser on October 17, 1956, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chilton. During his lifetime, Marty worked at the Hillside Cheese Factory for 25 years; in 1972 he moved onto his father's farm until his retirement. During that time, he had also worked at Chilton Manufacturing for 15 years. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, formerly St. Martin Parish of Charlestown. Marty enjoyed playing Sheepshead; it was long thought the reason he went to work every morning was so that he could play cards at lunchtime. His other passion was the Green Bay Packers; Marty followed the Green and Gold from the days they played at the old City Stadium. He loved being a grandfather and was so proud to have great-grandchildren. He always made sure to be as involved as possible in their lives because they were so special to him. Marty also treasured his faith; he read the Bible very frequently and took great comfort in reading and listening to God's Word.

    Funeral Services were held at St. Mary's Catholic Church Tuesday morning for Miss Joyce Ann Schwalenberg, 17, who drowned in a traffic accident Friday. Miss Schwalenberg and Richard Vanderloop, 18, had been on a double date Friday evening to shop for dresses for the junior prom. Later they drove to the Thilmany mill parking lot near the river. Joyce Ann was in the driver's seat when they decided to leave. Vanderloop reached over and turned the key on and the car started rolling forward. He told her to hit the brake but she stepped on the gas by mistake. The car ran over the embankment and into the river landing in about four feet of water on the roof. Vanderloop escaped through a broken window and made several attempts to get the girl out. The fire department arrived on the scene and administered artificial respiration after the car was removed by a wrecker.

    Lloyd C. Koehler, age 63, of Chilton, died unexpectedly on Monday January 21, 2013 at his home in the town of Charlestown.
    He was born on April 8, 1949 in Fond du Lac, to Robert & Darlene (Schmidt) Koehler.
    On April 19, 1969 he married Susan Bittner at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chilton.
    He farmed in the Town of Charlestown, and was a mechanic for Veolia Co. in Chilton. Lloyd enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandsons, especially watching Brad Race and Lee hunt.
    He was a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ in Chilton.
    Survivors include his wife, Susie of Chilton; a daughter Jill Koehler of Chilton; 2 grandsons, Bradley Clayton Juckem & special friend Megan, Lee Arthur Koehler; a sister Barbara Steudel of Appleton, 2 brothers, Larry (Sue) Koehler of Chilton, Robert Jr. (Lisa) Koehler of Chilton; and a close friend Jeff.
    He was preceded in death by a sister Sandy Koehler.
    Memorial services will be at 8 PM on Saturday January 26, 2013 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton, with the Rev. Kathy Rust officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sat. from 4 PM until the time of services.
