    Obituary:
Mullen, Lavern F. "Pee Wee" "Moon"
Lavern F. Mullen, Appleton, 74, died at home in the arms of his daughter and wife on Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, after a battle with cancer. He was born in Seymour on March 3, 1933, to the late Perry and Verna (Luedtke) Mullen. Lavern married Donna Felauer on Aug. 18, 1956, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Black Creek. Moon was an Army veteran of the Korean War (1953-1955) where he served in Germany. He was a mail carrier for the Appleton Post Office, #41, and delivered mail in the Highland School area for 35 years until his retirement in 1992. He built his house on Apple Creek where he resided for 51 years. He took great pride in cutting his lawn and even kept a lawn mowing journal. He had the talent of repairing German cuckoo clocks for many people. He enjoyed hunting in the Eagle River area, as well as spending time at the family cottage in Pickerel where he never bothered to fish!
He and Donna were charter members of St. Thomas More Parish. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and sharp wit. He had many nicknames including Pee Wee, Moon, #4, among others. His daughter, the "apple of his eye", gave him the name "little buddy". Moon will be greatly missed by his friends at McDonalds who he saw every morning for the past 15 years.
Lavern is survived by his wife of 51 years, Donna; his daughter, Penny (Eric) Schweitzer of Seymour; sisters and brothers, Eunice Wilson, Audrey (Jim) Rogers, Eldred "Gus" (Pat), Glenn (Marlene), Richard "Pete", and Doris Mullen; and his sisters-in-law, Monica (Lyonel) Arnold and Norma Felauer. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Lavern was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Henry and Rosella Felauer; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene Wilson, Norma Felauer, Florence (Bud) Loos and Frances Stammer-Kelley.
Lavern's final wish was to not have flowers at his funeral. Instead he asked that people plant a tree in honor of his memory and the great life he had.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007, until the time of Mass at 5 p.m. at ST. THOMAS MORE PARISH (1810 N. McDonald, Appleton). The Rev. Gerald Falk will officiate.
The family would like to thank their neighbors, Sharon and Duane Fox, as well as Red and Kathy Abel and Mark and Barb Vandenberg for all their help.
