    Biography:
    DAVID ZEHNER, who for the past eight years has served in the capacity of clerk of Dale township, is the owner of a magnificent farm of 207 acres situated in section 27, and for a number of years has been closely identified with the agricultural and political life of this community. He is a native of Dale township, and was born January 18, 1862, a son of Abraham and Mary (Zehner) Zehner, natives of Pennsylvania who were married in Ohio. They came to Dale township in October, 1853, purchasing eighty acres of raw woodland, on which they lived until Mr. Zehner's retirement in 1882, when they removed to the village of Medina, where Mrs. Zehner died January 9, 1893, Mr. Zehner following her to the grave three months later, on April 14, when his death occurred at the home of his daughter in Dale. Both were seventy-six years of age, and were buried in the West Medina Cemetery. David Zehner was the youngest of a family of ten children and remained at home until he was twenty-one years of age, at which time he commenced working for wages at the painting and paper hanging trade, which he followed for nine years, in connection with working in the woods during the winter months. He then purchased thirteen acres of land in Medina, which he cultivated when he could spare the time from his trade, and in 1893 sold this land and purchased eighty acres of land in Dale township, this being a part of the land which he now owns. This land had been partly improved and there was a log house and frame barn on the property, and he cultivated this tract for nine years, when he added eighty acres by purchase from an uncle. He resided on the new purchase until 1911, when he removed to his modern residence, and he now rents to his son-inlaw, who is operating the property. In 1885, Mr. Zehner was married to Miss Eliza A. Diley, daughter of John and Rosanna (Hanselman), Diley, the former a native of Pennsylvania and the latter of Wurtemberg, Germany. Mrs. Diley came to the United States with her parents and she and Mr. Diley were married in the Keystone State. During the early '50s they came to Wisconsin and settled in Outagamie county, but later removed to Waupaca county, and both died in the township of Caledonia, and are buried in Pine Grove Cemetery at Dale. Mrs. Zehner was the seventh of their family of eight children, and was born March 19, 1860. Three children have been born to Mr. and Mrs. Zehner: Bessie E., who married Otto Doshner, is now living in Dale township and has two children; Norma E., who married Leonard Doshner, is living on the homestead; and David W., is single and living at home. Zehner now has about 100 acres under the plow and all is fenced with barbed and woven wire. He carries on general farming and stock raising and markets dairy products, hogs, cattle, sugar beets and potatoes, and feeds his hay and grain. He milks about twelve cows throughout the year, and keeps Poland-China hogs and breeds to Percheron horses. His residence is 18x26 feet on both sides, consisting of ten rooms, which are fitted with all modern conveniences. He also has a basement barn, 36x74 feet, and numerous outbuildings for the shelter of his stock, grain and machinery. A good driven well, with windmill attachment, furnishes the farm with water and in addition there is a clear, cool spring with a spring house built around it. Mr. Zehner is a member of the Modern Woodmen of America, and his religious connection is with the Baptist Church of Dale. He has been prominent in Democratic politics, serving as chairman of the township board for five years, as clerk of the school board for seven years, as delegate to the county convention three years and as delegate to the State convention at the time of William Jennings Bryan's first nomination, and for the past eight years has served as township clerk. For about two years he was a director in the Home Insurance Company, and he is now serving as a notary public.

    David J. Zehner, Dale, 80, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, at Calumet Homestead Rehabilitation Center in New Holstein.
    David was born on Feb. 27, 1924, in Dale, son of the late David and Louise (Ellenbecker) Zehner.
    On Oct. 22, 1949, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Friemark. She preceded him in death in 1992.
    David worked for Soo Line Railroad for 34 years, retiring in 1985.
    He was a member of the Hortonville Knights of Columbus and served as financial secretary. David was the Dale town clerk for 14 years and treasurer for six years and also was a member of the Dale Community club for 20 years. He was a very active member of St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville and served as a trustee.
    David's enjoyments were spending time with his children and grandchildren, playing cards and researching the history of Dale.
    He is survived by two daughters, Marcia (Larry) Lehew, Calgary Alberta, Canada, and Joann (Stuart) Dewhurst, New Holstein; six sons, Dan Zehner, Dale, Chuck (Deb) Zehner, Dale, Don (Cathy) Zehner, Greenville, Paul (Carol) Zehner, Dale, Jim (Sara) Zehner, Dale, and Steve (Lesa) Zehner, Oshkosh. Two sisters, Betty (Al) Friemark, Dale, and Lois Zehner, Madison; two sister in-laws, Anita (Clarence) Bungert, Appleton, and Betty Friemark, Waukesha; twenty four grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends further survive David.
    He is preceded in death by his parents.
    Funeral services for David will be held on Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, at 4:30 PM at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville with Fr. Paul Vanden Hogen officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Dale.

    David R. Dorschner, age 76 of Hortonville, died Sunday, December 5, 2010, at Cherry Meadows in Appleton, falling into the arms of his loving Savior. David was born on November 19, 1934, in New London, Wisconsin, the son of Ronald and Anita (Rohloff) Dorschner. He was baptized on December 16, 1934, and confirmed on April 10, 1949, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Hortonville, where David also attended grade school. In 1953, David graduated from Hortonville High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army with the 620th Engineer Company in Germany. On June 25, 1960, David married Dianne Galleske at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano.
    Early in his career, David worked for numerous carpenters until his purchase into the Appleton Awning Shop. In 1992, he became sole owner, and managed the business until his retirement, at which time he sold the business to his son and son-in-law. He also drove school bus for the Hortonville School District.
    David was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hortonville, where he served on both the church council and school board.
    He is survived by his children: Carla (Mark) Matz and Mike (Julie) Dorschner, both of Hortonville; six dear grandchildren he thought the world of, Jamie, Kristi and Kelly Matz, Ronnie, Heather and Brian Dorschner, all of Hortonville; a sister, Beth Dorschner of Madison; a brother, Marvin (Bonnie) Dorschner of Hortonville; a sister-in-law, Florence Miller of Shawano; a brother-in-law, Clifford Galleske of Appleton; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
    David was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dianne; sister, Janet Dorschner; mother- and father-in-law, Philip and Pauline Galleske; brothers-in-law, Wilmer Galleske and Norbert Miller; sister-in-law, Carol Galleske; and step mother, Anita Dorschner.

    A funeral service for David will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Hortonville, with Rev. Ralph Rosenberg officiating. Family and friends may call at Borchardt and Moder Funeral Home, Hortonville, on Tuesday evening (TODAY) from 4 until 8 p.m. and again directly at church Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Hortonville.

    Holly Jean (Dorschner) Degal was granted one of her wishes on Tuesday November 25, 2014 when she was finally able to run again, this time into the arms of our Lord and Savior. With her passing, she is free from brain cancer that has burdened her for over 20 years. She is now able to live and play ball amongst the angels in Heaven.
    Holly was born on a snowy October 1, 1974 to Marv and Bonnie Dorschner (Woods). She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Ev. Lutheran Church in Hortonville. Holly attended Hortonville High School where she was a standout three-sport athlete and served as Senior Class President. After graduating from high school in 1992, Holly went to work at several title companies in Appleton. She was then hired by Outagamie County where she worked in the Register of Deeds Office until 2008.
    Her cancer may have stolen her ability to work, but it could never take away her spunk and sassiness. Holly always kept her sense of faith, humor and optimism. One of her best traits was her ability to be open, honest, and forthcoming. She never once used her illness as an excuse and feeling sorry for herself was never an option. When cancer stripped away her ability to complete even a simplistic everyday task, she would adapt and find a way to get it done. She liked her independence, and was always the last to ask for help. Holly was an inspiration to the people around her who admired her strength, courage, and resilience. Time after time when the cancer returned, she faced the challenge head on. She did not let her illness interfere with what she enjoyed doing most which was watching her two sons Zachary and Dylan play sports.
    In addition to her parents, Holly will be dearly missed by her children Zachary and Dylan Degal; her sisters, Jill (Bob) Kramer, Deb (Rob) Sager, Pam (Tim) Van Ornum; her brother Jeff (Crystal) Dorschner; her nieces and nephews, Brett and Drew Kramer, Collin, Brittany (goddaughter), and Ashley Sager, Emma, Ava, Joshua (godson) and Abigail Van Ornum, Haili and Kaden Dorschner, Natalie (goddaughter) and Cole Degal. She will also be sadly missed by her grandmother, Marie Woods; her aunts and uncles, Mary (Phil) Endter, Margie (Pat) Cousineau, Jack (Jody) Woods, Steve (Faye) Woods, Mike (Theresa) Woods, Patrick (Cheryl) Woods, Beth Dorschner, and numerous special cousins and friends including Katie Woods, Melissa Joyce, Jenny Stuewer, Jen Kalwitz, Chris Roesler, and Staci Radtke. She also enjoyed the friendship she had with Paula Smith at Parkside Care Center.
    Watching over Holly in Heaven are her grandparents, Ronald and Anita Dorschner, Earl Woods; aunts and uncle, David (Dianne) Dorschner and Janet Dorschner.
    The family would like to graciously thank the medical professionals at the Neurospine Center and Appleton Medical Center including Dr. Wascher, David Bond, Dr. Krueger, Patty Martins, and Karen Wild. We would also like to thank Audrey Kalbs, Linda Kitterman, Jill Smith, Tonya Carpenter and all the nurses and aides at Parkside Care Center and Heartland Hospice.
    A celebration of Holly's life will be held at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Greenville ( N1615 Meadowview Dr.) on Friday November 28, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Steven Kline officiating. The family will receive friends starting at 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

    You fought a tough battle for a long time never complaining and always with a smile. We will miss you and will always think about you. We won't forget about you either, we miss seeing you and spending time with you. We know you're in a better place in God's hands and have no more struggles. Goodbye and we will always love you Mom.

    If roses grow in Heaven, Lord please pick a bunch for us, place them in our sister's arms and tell her they're from us. Tell her we love her and miss her, and when she turns to smile, place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for awhile. Because remembering her is easy, we do it every day, but there's an ache within our hearts that will never go away.
