    William J. Thiel, age 93, of Neenah, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at Vallhaven Care Center in Neenah. He was born October 27, 1917, in Green Bay to the late George and Caroline (Peters) Thiel. On September 18, 1937, Bill married Sylvia Hogan, and they made their home in Menasha before moving to a farm in Winchester, where they raised their family. Along with farming, he had worked for Gelhar Sand Co. and was instrumental in bringing the Gelhar Sand Co. to the Larsen area. For 25 years Bill was a millwright for Kimberly-Clark Corp. until his retirement. After their retirement, Bill and Sylvia spent winters in Tampa, Florida for over 20 years. Bill's wife of 62 years, Sylvia, preceded him in death on July 13, 2000. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Winchester for over 60 years.
    Bill is survived by his six children, Nancy (Bruce) Armstrong, John (Jo) Thiel, Jim Thiel, Betty (Roy) Deiss, Beverly (Gary) Wiita, and Connie (Gerald) Sauer; fifteen grandchildren, Brett (Chris) Armstrong, Bart (Pam) Armstrong, Troy Armstrong, Lisa (Rick) Lewin, Terri Thiel, Jackie Ots, Marney (Mike) Verhasselt, Mike (Arline) Thiel, Scott Thiel, Brenda (David) Brusky, Nancy (Jeff) Cottrell, Lori (Jim) Opperman, Darci Thompson, David Sauer, and Rebecca Sauer; many great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
    Along with his parents and wife, Bill was also preceded in death by two brothers, Royce and Donald Thiel; and one sister, Helen Ziegert.
    A Funeral Service for Bill will be held on Friday, August 19, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church of Winchester, Larsen, Wisconsin, with Pastor Dan Luett officiating. Burial will follow in the Grace Lutheran Cemetery. A Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.

    Ellen Mary Retzlaff, 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a brief but valiant battle with cancer.
    Ellen was born on December 19, 1943 to Royce and Ida (Sanders) Thiel. On August 1, 1964 she was united in marriage to Jerry Retzlaff and they spent 48 wonderful years together. Ellen was the Packers Shrine Queen in 1961. She loved gardening, bird watching, her dogs, traveling, visiting many national parks and crafting, making many things for her family and friends. Most of all she was Grandma, and she loved the time she spent with her family and that time will always be treasured.
    Ellen is survived by her husband Jerry, two children; Tamy Parker and Greg (Janel) Retzlaff, grandchildren; Ashley, Justin and Kayla Parker and Kaitlyn Retzlaff and Kayley Wontor. Ellen is further survived by her brothers and sister; Paul (Sue) Thiel, Jerry (Nancy) Thiel and Sue (Bob) Hoks, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
    Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter-in-law, Lisa Retzlaff and God sons Eric Thiel and Rick Retzlaff.
    The funeral service for Ellen will be held on Monday, November 26, at 12:00 PM at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME TRI COUNTY CHAPEL. A time of visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the Funeral Home.
    Online condolences may be expressed at www.wichmannfargo.com. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in her name. The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to the ICU doctors, nurses and staff at the Appleton Medical Center.

    Eric J. Thiel, Reedsville, age 32, formerly of Menasha, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 25, 2008. He was born June 7, 1976, in Neenah, the son of Jerold and Nancy (Talarczyk) Thiel.
    Eric is further survived by Stephanie Bremer and their twin sons: Royce and Nicholas Thiel; Stephanie's two children: Farrah and Sierra Bremer; a brother, Michael Thiel; aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
    Eric was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Royce and Ida Thiel; maternal grandparents: Casimir and Eleanore Talarczyk.
    Family and friends can gather from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2008, at Martens-Laemmrich Funeral Home, 312 Milwaukee Street, Menasha. A memorial will be established for the children.

    Michael Joseph Thiel, age 34, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 21, 2014. He was born in Neenah on February 10, 1979 son of Jerold and Nancy (Talarczyk) Thiel. He enjoyed basketball, hunting, fishing, and loved spending time with friends and family.
    Michael is survived by his parents, Jerold and Nancy Thiel, twin nephews: Royce and Nick Thiel and their mother Stephanie, and her daughters, Farrah and Sierra; Godparents, Danne and Kay Reagles, aunts and uncles: June and Larry Slack, Nick and Mary Talarczyk, Jay and Sharon VanStiphout, Paul and Sue Thiel and Bob and Sue Hoks; he is further survived by many cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Eric Thiel, maternal grandparents, Casimir and Eleanore Talarzyk, paternal grandparents, Royce and Ida Thiel, aunt and uncle, Jerry and Ellen Retzlaff.
    Funeral Service for Michael will be at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2014 at Martens-Laemmrich Funeral Home, 312 Milwaukee Street, Menasha. Friends and family may visit at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
