Obituary:
Raymond J. Pegel, 68, of 1635 Cedar St., was pronounced dead on arrival today at 6:10 a.m. at Mercy Medical Center where he had been taken by ambulance Associates.
He was found by Oshkosh police slumped over the wheel of his car after it had run onto a terrace on Cedar near Bent Avenue. Coroner Art Miller ruled death due to a heart attack.
He was born in Stephensville, Wis., on February 2, 1901, son of John and Lena Pegel and was married to Dorothy Smith on November 3, 1933.
Mr. Pegel had been employed for 33 years by Olson Transportation Co., retiring in 1963. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Teamsters Local 126.
Surviving are his widow, Dorothy; three daughters, Mrs. Robert Schmid, St. Paul, Minn.; Mrs. Ralph Schierl, Appleton, and Mrs. Hubert Lawson, Oshkosh; four sons, Raymond Pegel Jr., Oshkosh, Eugene, Gerald, and Evan Pegel, Appleton; three sisters, Mrs. William Van Hout, Kimberly, Mrs. Henrietta McGinnis, Appleton, and Mrs. Herbert Peters, Miami, Fla.; 27 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. William Rickert officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call at Marquardt Funeral Home Wednesday from 4-9 p.m. The rosary will be recited Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Obituary:
Dennis E. Pegel, 63, Appleton, passed away at St. Elizabeth's Hospital on Oct. 1, 2010, after suffering a heart attack. He was born to the late Eugene and Nila (Ray) Pegel on Feb. 15, 1947. Dennis married Barbara Umlandt on Oct. 18, 1975.
He loved listening to his scanner and talked for hours with friends on his CB radio, riding his bike and tinkering in woodworking.
Dennis is survived by his wife; son, Elliot; brothers, Steve (Bonnie) and Scott (Lisa); sisters, Carol Hanse1, Valerie Metzenbauer, Kathleen Pegel and Vicki (Ron) Hietpas; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
His parents precede him in death.
Services for Dennis will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010, at Valley Funeral Home. Friends may gather beginning at 5 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m. Pastor Leon Knitt officiating.
