Kroll, Elaine E.
Elaine Kroll, 71, Neenah, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, November 21, 2006, following a year long illness. She was born January 15, 1935, in Gresham, the eldest daughter of the late Wilbert and Delia (Fischer) Funk. Elaine married Robert R. Kroll, October 27, 1956, in Shawano. In the early 1970s Elaine realized her lifelong interest in a nursing career when she graduated from FVTI in Appleton as a licensed practical nurse. She was employed by Theda Clark Hospital for 27 years in the Obstetrics Department, first as a nurse then as a Unit Clerk for the Nursery. It was there she could combine two of her passions; newborn babies and her organizational skills on the computer. Elaine retired from Theda Clark in 1995, where she cultivated the friendship and respect of many coworkers.
Elaine had a gentle, nurturing and artistic soul. She loved photography, cake decorating, knitting, crocheting and all types of music. She was the soft spoken heart and soul of her family, who took great joy in the lives of her children and grandchildren.
Elaine is survived by her husband of 50 years, Bob; a daughter, Judith Kroll, Oshkosh; a son, Jeffrey (Sheri) Kroll, Neenah; the two greatest loves of her life, her grandsons: Jonathan and Samuel Kroll; a sister, Gayle Wendt, Kimberly and her children: Kathy, Tony, Bob and Kyle; two brothers: Gilbert (Sally) Funk, Madison and their children: Deborah, Gwen and Brandi; Bob (Emmy) Funk, Appleton and their children: Jesse and Katie; two brothers-in-law: Maury (Hazel) Kroll, Medford and Donald (Mary Ann) Kroll, Bonduel; a sister-in-law, Ilamae Buckoski, Green Bay; as well as countless friends and relatives.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; an older brother, John Funk; a son-in-law, Al Perez; two sisters-in-law: Lorian Wichmann and Sally Kroll; two brothers-in-law: Eugene Buckoski and Earl Wendt; a niece, Mary Wendt; a nephew, John Wendt and her father- and mother-in-law, John and Emma Kroll.
Funeral services for Elaine will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, November 25, 2006, at Peace Lutheran Church, 1228 S. Park Avenue, Neenah, with Rev. Paul Novotney officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Neenah. Friends may call at the church from 9 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable donation to the John Wayne Cancer Research Fund; Headrush, a brain cancer research cause that Elaine's family supports wholeheartedly; or Peace Lutheran Church, Neenah.
The family would like to express their most sincere appreciation to the wonderful staffs of Theda Clark Regional Medical Center and the hospice program at ThedaCare at Home, especially Lou Sharpless, for their patience and support of Elaine.

Gayle F. Wendt, Appleton, age 78, died Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at her daughter's home in Kaukauna. She was born in Shawano on April 27, 1937 to the late Wilbert and Delia (Fischer) Funk. Gayle was an excellent homemaker that loved to cook and bake. She also cherished time spent with family.
Gayle is survived by her children: Kathy Richley of Kaukauna; Tony (Rickard Aldrich) Wendt of Woodland Park, CO; Bob (Julie) Wendt of Kimberly; and Kyle Brooks of Appleton; grandchildren: Susan (fiancé Tony Behnke), Eric (Randa), and Andy Richley, Brandon and Madelyn Wendt, and baby Ellie on the way; great grandsons: Davyn and Sylas; brothers: Gilbert (Sally) and Bob (Emmy) Funk; and brother-in-law: Bob "Boomer" Kroll. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Gayle was preceded in death by her children: Mary and infant John Wendt; and sister Elaine Kroll.
