Tuesday eveining after a lingering illness. The body is at t he Mohr funeral and funeral services are scheduled at 9 Friday morni ng at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral with Rev. George Schemmer, pastor, in c harge. Burial will be in Allouez cemetery. ..Mrs. Rhoder is survived by o ne daughter, Mrs. DeWan; two grandchildren; one brother, Walter G. Romenes ko, Seattle, Wash.; and three sisters; Mrs. Dora McGrath, Green Bay, Mr s. John Schuh, Freedom; and Sister M. Calazanza, a member of the Notre Da me order, stationed at St. Joseph's here. ???Helen M Lang is listed at 623 E Howard ST. Winona , Minnesota
Edwin J Lang is listed at the same address. We always knew them as our aunt and uncle, Helen and Ed. They also had a daughter named Kay Wanda Lang. She would be about 65 Y.O.A. The location is right for where I remember their house. Ed was a bakery/chef by occupation, at Bloedoes (Sp?) Bakery. I will have to see if it's still in operation the next time I go down there. (I have property about 25 miles from there).
I don't know why the dates seem so far off (10 years)for the age. I have her listed as 81 at the time of death. That comes from the intelius.com website that I use for a second check on information. Ed is listed as D.O.B Jan.02, 1918 & died at age at 92. Which means he would have died this month.
Helen M. at that address is listed as D.O.B. 13 Mar.1900...17 years off! It may have been Edwin Lang's Mother. At 81 Y.O.A at the time of death, she would have died in 1981. So I am still not sure what the status of Helen Romenesko/Lang is. I don't have her Middle name available right now but I have copies of a lot of birth certificates and will find out.

The information of her death came from some of Alice Romenesko's children who are attempting to start a family tree. I am seeing a lot of their information wrong. this all started first researching when Alice recently went into the hospital before her death. This is the first I have checked their information. So...I think Helen M Lang would be Edwin J Lang's mother and the status of Helen Romenesko/Lang is still not verified!

Anna Katherine Brutsch became the wife of Herbert Romenesko, who in turn are my maternal grandparents. Joseph Romenesko the father of Herbert (Herbie)Romenesko was a blacksmith.He migrated from Wisconson to Minnesota. Herbert worked for the railroad for awhile before becoming a blacksmith himself. His work for the Railroad took him to areas of Southern Minnesota and South Dakota. He had a great reputation for honesty with the Indian tribes living along the Mississippi and south Dakota at that time. They started doing all of their trading exclusively with him for all of their Blacksmithing needs. He would get orders for tools and deliver them. When we would go to Brownsville/Calidonia area to visit my great grandmother, Katherine Brutsch, he would take all of us down there for a family reunion. He had his own school bus route from Weaver to Winona. So it made sense to take everybody down in the school bus. In the back of the bus was the shovels, horse shoes and everything else the Indians wanted. He would stop the bus along the road and the adult male members of the family would help carry the tools up the hill, usuall about a 50 degree incline (About 1/4 mile)to hand deliver them. He continued making tools for them and working for the railroad as the stationmaster in Weaver,MN until his death. So...between the railroad and the Black Smith trade, is the reason he got down to the Calidonia area to meet Anna K Brutsch. Lucky me, otherwise, I would not have been born 22 years later. :)

"You would make a wonderful hospital nurse, Philomena." This praise fr om her fatally ill mother, gave Sister M. Calasanza the first thought of g iving herself to a special work as a religious. Six years later, at twent y-one, Philomena was compelled to come to terms with herself while meditat ing on Christ's vivid condemnation of tepidity. Desiring to do a positi ve work in the Church, Philomena made the necessary contacts and with t he guidance of Sister Mary Leopoldine, the superior at St. Francis Xavi er Cathedral, Green Bay, entered the candidature in Milwaukee.
Making known her desire for the nursing profession, Novice Mary Calasan za hoped that her superior would consider such an assignment for her. Sist er tells us however, that she learned a valuable and enduring Novitiate l esson in Our Lady's recommendation, "Do whatever He tells you," and receiv ed with true joy the obedience that sent her to the classroom.
From first to last, Sister cherished her vocation as she herself relate s. For more than 50 years Sister was a better than average teacher. Eve ry child in her classroom was her big concern. She would not spare herse lf in serving these little ones and in particular her First Communicants.
When Sister was working at St. Joseph's Home in Green Bay, her health a nd eye-sight failed to such an extent that she was forced to give up scho ol work. Nevertheless, her assignment as refectorian for the Sisters at t he home revealed the same attention to the individual wants and needs of h er Sisters. She took care to keep a late dinner hot and to serve it wi th a smile. Her community of these days remember her pleasant. polite a nd cheerful demeanor.
During an active 57 years of service, Sister was stationed at: St. John Ka nty, Chicago; St. Francis, De Pere; Our Lady of Lourdes, Dobie; St. Michae l, Milwaukee; St. Luke, Gary; and St. Joseph Home, Green Bay.
In 1955, Sister retired to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Mount Calvary, Wiscon sin and as age made more demands on her feeble strength, was transferr ed to Notre Dame Infirmary, Elm Grove as a patient in 1959.
Always trying to avoid burdening others, Sister got around at the infirma ry as best she could, but unhappily fell and broke her arm. This accide nt confined Sister to her room or to a wheelchair and after a bout with t he flu during the ensuing winter months, Sister gradually grew very wea k. On April 22 Extreme Unction was administered and on May 6, Sister prep ared to welcome the angel of death. About 3:20 a.m., Monsignor Rodenkirc h, Mother Annunciata, Sister's niece, Sister M. Josepha and the nurses, wi tnessed the quiet, peaceful exit of Sister's soul. Sister had a special d evotion to our Sorrowful Mother, daily saying her chaplet. By a strange c oincidence, Sister now lies buried near the 13th Station of the cross in t he Elm Grove cemetery.
A child of God from within twenty-four hours of her birth, this first gene ration American citizen spent her formative years in the quiet little vill age of Freedom, Wisconsin. Her parents, Gerhard Romenesco and Theresa Hag el were staunch old-world Catholics. Little is actually known of Sister 's early life. She attended the two room village school where she first l earned to know and love our Sisters. A prominent doctor in Green Bay alwa ys mentions Sister as his mother's hired girl who helped to bring him u p. He attests that, "Some of the dearest memories of my childhood are lin ked with good Sister Mary Calasanza."
Her long life of conformity to God's will and loving care for His childre n, have no doubt earned her an everlasting reward. May Sister Mary Calasa nza intercede for our loved Order and send many girls with the measu re of her love to serve God and our Blessed Mother as she did.

May she rest in peace."

I do wish we had more of a family history, but those were not kept years a go. I hope this little bit will be of some help to you.

She was born Aug. 9, 1900 and was a lifelong Green Bay resident. Ma ry married Henry Dewan July 21, 1921. She was a member ofth eBrown Coun ty Historical Society, St. Mary's Guild, Catholic Women's Club, Senior Cit izens Orginization, Neville Public Museum, St. Anne Society and the Missi on Society of the cathedral. Mrs. DeWan was an active musican and well kno wn for playing th epiano for her special friends and at nursing homes a nd Senior Citizen Cemters. She was also well known for her poetry and deco rative painting. Herbert Romenesko of Weaver succumbs, Herbert Romenesko, 71, Weaver blacksmith, died at his home unexpectedly Thursday of a heart condition. He had not been ill. Mr. Romenesko was born at Potsdam, July 6th, 1889. He married Anna Brutsch at Brownsville December 9th, 1919, and the couple resided in Weaver. He worked on farms in the area and also for the Milwaukee Railroad until 1936 when he took over at the Weaver blacksmith shop upon the death of his father. Mr. Romenesko was town clerk of Minneiska Township for many years. He drove school buses in this area for over 20 years. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen and the Royal Neighbors of America. His wife died in 1968. Surviving are a son, Earl of Cottage Grove; three daughters, Mrs. Aloysius (Elsie) Heaser of Weaver, Mrs. Ralph (Alice) Fairchild of South St. Paul and Mrs. Edwin (Helen) Lang of Winona; 21 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. One great grandchild and one grandchild also preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Buckman funeral home in Wabasha with Reverend Luther Pennington of Weaver United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Minneiska. Friends May call at the funeral home Saturday afternoon and evening and until the time of services Sunday.

From the files of the Congregation of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, Mi lwaukee WI. ; The following hand written autobiography was found in Sist er Josepha's file;I, Sister Mary Josepha - Teresa Schuh was born April 30, 1896 at Freedo m, baptized in St, Nicholas church and named after my dear grandmothe r. On my first day at school, I sat close to my brother. The teacher ask ed my brother his name. He answered very slowly, "Ja-cup", (Jacob) Schu h. Then she asked me my name, I answered "Trace-cup Schuh" thinking that " -cup" belonged there. The teacher and pupils had some fun out of it.We had to help on the farm very much. My father owned 168 acres of clear l and. In spring and fall we had to stay home from school to work in the fie lds. When I was 17 years old I wanted to be a sister like my two Auntie s, Sister Calixta and Calasanza. Sickness prevented me until I was 19. T wo heavy operations cured me. After receiving permission from the family d octor, pastor and my parents I left for Milwaukee Aug. 1915. This was my f irst train ride. I had never seen a big city before. Homesickness was qui te hard on me for some time.In November of the same year, I was sent to Kenosha. My second year as can didate I was stationed at St. Leo's Milwaukee. At the end of this year I w as permitted to prepare for my holy vows. August 2nd 1917 I entered the No viate. My second years as novice I went to Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin at Ho ly Ghost Mission. The following July 23, 1919, I was permitted to make pro fession, after which I returned to Chippewa, where I remained eight more y ears. After these eight years I was sent to St. Paul's Chicago, to ta ke up the same kind of work I was used to, First and Second grades with sa cristy work. In Feb. of that year I was transferred to Belvidere, Ill. Unt il June when I went to the motherhouse to be repaired. The following Augu st I came to Lottaville, where I still am, to take the first and second gr ades there, together with my dear church work. I would feel lost if this c harge were taken away from me. Amen.

John H. DeWan, 87, Green Bay, passed away peacefully at home with his wife and children by his side, on Sunday, March 21, 2010. John was born on June 7, 1922, in Green Bay, to the late Henry and Mary (Rhoder) DeWan. He married Lucy Ann Simon on Sept. 29, 1951, in Wisconsin Rapids.
John taught science and math for 27 years; three years at Freedom High School and 24 years at Washington Jr. High School in Green Bay. John played in the Milwaukee Symphony and the Green Bay Symphony; he was an original member of the Last of the Big Bands. John served in the Army infantry. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and computers. He was always learning and keeping up with current events and new medical procedures. John loved spending time with his children and grandchildren; he also enjoyed visiting his friends in local nursing homes.
John is survived by his wife, Lucy Ann; their children, Mary DeWan, Matthew (Christine) DeWan, Martha (Harry) Huguet, Michelle (Scott) Ziemer, Marjorie (Gerald) Vincent; eight grandchildren and two great-granchildren.

David J. De Wan, 74, New Franken, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Nov. 27, 2010. He was born on Aug. 22, 1936, to the late Henry A. and Mary (Rhoder) De Wan. He married Janet O'Leary on Aug. 26, 1961, and they enjoyed 49 years together.
David was a graduate of East High School, received a B.S. from Stevens Point and a Master of Arts from Northern Michigan University.
He taught English in the Green Bay Public School System for 34 years and was active in the GBEA and the WEA. He served on the WEA Legislative Committee and ten years on the State Teacher Retirement Board.
David swam competitively for the YMCA where he was a member for 64 years. In his early years, David was an avid handball and racquetball player. He also enjoyed many years of downhill skiing, boating, fishing, and sailing with family and friends.
Above all else, David's greatest passion was for learning and teaching others. He had an insatiable thirst for knowledge and the desire to learn and share his knowledge with others. The greatest joys in his life were family, friends, neighbors, and his beloved golden retrievers.
David is survived by his loving wife Jan; their children, Henry (Jill) De Wan and grandson, Maxwell, Daniel (Jenna) De Wan; his sister-in-law, Lucy Ann and her children, Mary, Matt, Michelle, Martha, Margie. David was preceded in death by his mother and father and his brother, Jack.
According to David's wishes, there will be a private family service to be held at a later date. Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 920-468-4111, is assisting the family with arrangements.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. David L. Groteluschen, the staff at Green Bay Oncology, and the 3rd floor staff at St. Mary's Hospital for their care and support.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established in David's name.

Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr s. Heaser, 74, of Weaver, died Thursday, November 9th, 1995, at Lewiston V illa in Lewiston. Elsie Romenesko was born May 11th, 1921, in Weave r. On October 20th, 1938 she married Hubert Merchlewitz of Stockton at S t. Mary's Church in Minnieska. He died December 24th, 1951. On Februa ry 18th, 1954, she married Aloysius Heaser at St. Mary's Church in Minnies ka. He died August 18th, 1981. Mrs. Heaser was a member of the Royal Nei ghbors of America, St. Ann Society at St. Mary's Catholic Church and serv ed in all of the offices of the society. In addition, she held an offi ce on the Weaver school board and was clerk for the township of Minniesk a, completing the term held by her father after his death. She was then e lected to that post. Born July 18th, 1923, in Weaver, he work ed on the Railroad in Montana in the early 1940's and served in the Navy d uring World War II. Alice M. Fairchild, age 83, of Chisago City, MN, formerly of Weaver, died Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Parmly Senior Services in Chisago City. She was born December 7, 1925 in Weaver, the daughter of Herbert and Anna (Brutsch) Romenesko. She was a graduate of Winona High School. She married Ralph Fairchild February 23, 1946 at the Weaver United Methodist Church. The family lived a few years in Rollingstone before moving to South St. Paul where Ralph worked for the Armour Meat Packing Company and Alice was a homemaker. She later worked for the State of Minnesota Department of Transportation in St. Paul issuing permits for truckers. She retired in 1988. The couple moved to Center City, MN in 1974. Ralph died September 3, 1986. Alice moved to the nursing facility in Chisago City in 2000.
Alice was a former member of the Weaver United Methodist Church. She was also a life member of Royal Neighbors.
She is survived by children and spouses, Sharon and Ron Kraetzner, South St. Paul, MN, Dennis Fairchild, Inver Grove Heights, MN, Kathleen and Jim Hale, Chandler, TX, Douglas and Sharon Fairchild, Forest Lake, MN, Debra and Robert Bruber, Chisago City, MN, Larry Fairchild, Minneapolis, MN; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Her husband, Ralph, two sisters, Elsie Heaser and Helen Lang and one brother, Earl Romenesko, preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 11:00am at Weaver United Methodist Church in Weaver with the Reverend Lyle Krumrie officiating. Interment will be in Greenfield Cemetery in Kellogg. Casket bearers will be Denise Schneider, Jody Bruber, Kevin Fairchild, Kari Jo Burrows, Jon Fairchild, Allen Heaser, Harold Merchlewitz and Jim Fairchild. Edwin J Lang is listed at the same address. We always knew them as our aunt and uncle, Helen and Ed. They also had a daughter named Kay Wanda Lang. She would be about 65 Y.O.A. The location is right for where I remember their house. Ed was a bakery/chef by occupation, at Bloedoes (Sp?) Bakery. I will have to see if it's still in operation the next time I go down there. (I have property about 25 miles from there).
I don't know why the dates seem so far off (10 years)for the age. I have her listed as 81 at the time of death. That comes from the intelius.com website that I use for a second check on information. Ed is listed as D.O.B Jan.02, 1918 & died at age at 92. Which means he would have died this month.
Helen M. at that address is listed as D.O.B. 13 Mar.1900...17 years off! It may have been Edwin Lang's Mother. At 81 Y.O.A at the time of death, she would have died in 1981. So I am still not sure what the status of Helen Romenesko/Lang is. I don't have her Middle name available right now but I have copies of a lot of birth certificates and will find out.

The information of her death came from some of Alice Romenesko's children who are attempting to start a family tree. I am seeing a lot of their information wrong. this all started first researching when Alice recently went into the hospital before her death. This is the first I have checked their information. So...I think Helen M Lang would be Edwin J Lang's mother and the status of Helen Romenesko/Lang is still not verified!

Mary M. Kelpinski, age 88, of Appleton, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Mary was born on July 1, 1922, in Five Corners, Outagamie County, to the late Jake and Genevieve (Van Asten) Schuh. She married Merlin E. Kelpinski on September 20, 1944; he survives. Mary was employed in the Sears Catalog Department in Appleton for over 42 years, retiring in 1984. She was a well-known volunteer at St. Elizabeth Hospital and St. Joseph Catholic Church kitchen. Mary enjoyed card playing and was a member of several card clubs and, together with Merlin, enjoyed square dancing and had many happy years at their cottage in Waupaca.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Merlin; her children, David (Anita) Kelpinski, Dianna Kelpinski, Dan Kelpinski and Debbie (Dave) Ganzen; her grandchildren, Rick (Lynn) Kelpinski, Dawn (Ken) Marquardt, Kelly Ganzen and John Ganzen; her great-grandchildren, Kristina Marquardt and Casey and Lindsay Kelpinski; her brothers, Don (Pat) Schuh, Roger (Nancy) Schuh, Gene (Bernadette) Schuh, Vern (Ann) Schuh; and her sister, Glady (Harry) Vanden Boogardt.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Bob Schuh.
The Funeral Liturgy will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 10, 2010, at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 W. Lawrence Street, Appleton, with Fr. Jim Leary officiating. Rita Tessen compiled a Romenesko family history in 1983. Supposedly she h as passed on all her work to her niece Ellen Schuh Romenesko.

Obituary:
Rita T. Tessen, Town of Vandenbroek, age 92, died Sunday, October 29, 2017 at the American Grand. She was born in Freedom on December 31, 1924 to the late Fred and Catherine (Meulemans) Schuh. Rita married Leland Tessen on June 19, 1947. She enjoyed traveling, painting by numbers, caring for her plants and researching ancestory. Rita was a loving mom and loved all of her Godchildren, nieces and nephews as well as her dogs, Skipper, Tiny and Penny.
Rita is survived by her son, Kenneth of Town of Vandenbroek; brothers: James Schuh and Ted Schuh; brothers-in-law: Leonard Tessen and Jerry Smith; and six God children. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Leland; son, David Tessen; father and mother-in-law: Alfred and Viola Tessen; siblings: Richard (Betty) Schuh, Harold (Pat) Schuh, Virginia (Joe) Martin, Delores Smith, Cecelia (Joe) Smet; brothers and sisters-in-law: Judy Schuh, Shirley Schuh, Harold (Audrey) Tessen and Lois Tessen.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 3, 2017 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 Pine St. Little Chute) beginning at 4:30 p.m. until time of Mass at 5:30 p.m. The Rev. Cecilia A. Smet, age 90, of Sherwood, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2016. She was born on March 27, 1926 to the late Fred and Catherine (Meulemans) Schuh. She married Joseph Smet on April 8, 1948 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom, Wisconsin. Together Ceil and Joe operated their family dairy farm for the majority of their marriage.
Ceil worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital as a candy striper before her marriage. After she married, she was a full-time devoted wife and mother. She lived her life giving to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren always knew that Grandma would have chocolate chip cookies and suckers when they arrived for visits. Ceil was known for always putting everyone's needs before her own.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church as well as the Saint Ann Society. She enjoyed her weekly Sherwood Ladies Bowling League, playing Sheepshead with friends and family, crocheting and needle point.

Virginia L. Martin, 88, died Sunday, August 16, 2015 at her home in Wayside Parkview Estates.
She was born April 25, 1927 in Freedom, WI to the late Fred and Katherine Meulemans Schuh. She married Joe Martin on May 13, 1948 at Freedom, WI. He preceded her in death on March 16, 2011. Virginia was a graduate of Freedom High School. She was an accomplished baker, including making wedding cakes for family and friends and ice cream pails of cookies for the grandchildren. She partnered with Joe in the operation of their dairy farm in the Town of Morrison. They enjoyed polka dancing with the "We Love to Dance Club" and after their retirement, traveled extensively throughout the United States.

Dolores "Dee" Smith (Schuh), age 73, of Arbor Vitae, passed away at her home in the beautiful northwoods on Friday, April 15 surrounded by her loving family. Dee was born on November 28, 1937, in Freedom (Appleton), Wisconsin, to Fred and Catharine (Meulemans) Schuh. She married Gerry (Gerald) Smith on August 17, 1957, and they settled in Wausau to raise their family. They retired to their beautiful cabin in the northwoods in 1991 where they enjoyed twenty wonderful years surrounded by nature, enjoying gardening, swimming, hiking, biking, canoeing and cross-country skiing. Their passion for nature also led them on many travels throughout the United States in their camper. Dee treasured the simple joys of life: nature, flowers, snowflakes, sunsets, children and time spent with family and friends.

James Romenesko, 66, of Butte, formerly of Great Falls, died Saturday, July 28. The family chooses not to disclose the cause of death.
Services will be held at Hillcrest Lawn Chapel 10 a.m. Saturday. Axelson Alternative Cremation, Inc. of Butte and Schnider Funeral Home of Great Falls are handling arrangements.
Jim was born in Fort Benton to Velma (Ames) and Earl Romenesko on Dec. 26, 1945. He attended early elementary school at a one-room school near the family ranch north of Carter. Later he resided and was schooled at St. Thomas Home in Great Falls. After graduation from Great Falls Central High School in 1964, Jim served in the U.S. Navy on the aircraft carrier USS Oriskany from 1964 to 1969. Upon his return to Montana, he attended the College of Great Falls, graduating in 1973 with a degree in social science and criminal justice.
In 1973, he married Echo Pearson. Son John was born in 1976 and David in 1978. He worked in the Children's Center in Twin Bridges until 1975. After moving to Great Falls, he worked for St. Thomas Child and Family Center and later Rice Motors. He served as executive director for St. Vincent DePaul until 1990.
He married Mary Ellen Moore of Cascade in 1991. He worked as a paralegal for the Alexander, Baucus and Linnell law office until 2001. During his retirement, he worked as a rural mail carrier in Highwood and Cascade.
Woven throughout his life, music was a thread of creativity. Gifted with an "ear" for playing the guitar and singing, he played and sang with his sisters at rural events in his childhood. He started a band abroad ship in the Navy and later played in local venues during his college years. He especially enjoyed participating in Dixieland music festivals and western swing dance bands. He loved to play in nursing homes and at special community events. He passed his musical talent on by teaching guitar to young and old, including his grandson Eli. Jim is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen; sons John and David; stepchildren Matt (Callie) Moore and Jenny Thompson; grandsons Eli Thompson and Caelum Moore; and sisters Barbara (Pat) Barker and Leona (Don) Wade.
Often called a true gentlemen and a man who lived with his heart, he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Mary Jo Vanden Boogaard, Kaukauna, age 54, died Monday, January 10, 2011, at her home. She was born August 25, 1956, to Joseph and Cecilia (Schuh) Smet. Mary Jo married Bryan Vanden Boogaard on July 26th, 1980, at Sacred Heart Parish in Sherwood. She enjoyed camping, sewing and traveling and cherished time spent with family and friends. Mary Jo was a loving wife and mother who has touched many people's hearts throughout her lifetime. Among friends and family she was known for her kindness, her quick wit, her love of life and her endless devotion towards those she loved. Mary Jo also was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish.
Mary Jo is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Bryan; children: Becky (Chris) Burns, Kaukauna; Jaren (special friend Jamie Thompson), Kaukauna; and Eric of Kaukauna; parents: Joseph and Cecelia (Schuh) Smet; siblings: Jane (Robert) Schaefer, Patricia (Dennis) Dakins, Sandra (David) Broeren, Joseph (Laura) Smet; sisters-in-law: Dawn (Mark) Van Oss and Lynn (Dan) Peerenboom; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by her nephew, Luke Peerenboom; and father- and mother-in-law James "Big Jim" and Helen Vanden Boogaard.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 15, 2011, at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH - ST. ALOYSIUS CHURCH (2401 Main Ave. Kaukauna) beginning at 9 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. A luncheon will follow Mass in the church cafeteria. The Rev. Jerry Pastors will officiate. Karen Marie Janssen, age 61, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2012 at Cherry Meadows Hospice with her family at her side. She was born August 5, 1950 in Appleton to James and Julia (Coenen) Schuh and was united in marriage to Charles Janssen of Little Chute on June 2, 1972. Karen graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1968 and attended the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point, where she met Charles. She enjoyed ceramic painting, flower arranging, jewelry design, cross-stitch, shopping, spending time with family and friends, and travel.
Karen is survived by her husband Charles of Appleton; son Brian of Madison; daughter Amanda Borleske, husband John, and very special grandchildren Sorina and Malaina, of Verona; parents James and Julia Schuh of Little Chute; brothers: Gary, Kaukauna; Jim (Yvonne), Kaukauna; Bill (Mary Jo), Kaukauna; Mike (Cheryl), Appleton; and Jeff (Lynn), Appleton; brother-in-law Tom (Phyllis) Janssen, Kaukauna; sisters-in-law: Jan (Ron) Rabideau and Patricia (Patrick) Farrell, both of Kaukauna; and wonderful friends Penny, Jenny and Nancy; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and their spouses.
Karen was preceded in death by her sister Susan Schuh; her beloved godmother Sharon Belling; her grandparents; and other uncles, aunts and cousins.
