    Obituary:
    Joyce Schnal, age 78, passed away in Folsom, California, on Saturday, May 30, 2009, after a ten year battle with Alzheimer's disease. Joyce was born on July 3, 1930, daughter of the late William and Marina Conradt. She was raised in Shiocton and was a graduate of Shiocton High School and Oshkosh Business College. As a young adult, Joyce worked in Washington, D.C., London and Tokyo as a secretary with the Department of the Navy. After her government service, she moved to California and met her husband, Richard Schnal, whom she married in 1963. Joyce and Richard lived on the Monterey Peninsula for 40 years before Richard passed away of heart failure in 2004. Joyce then moved to the Sacramento area to be closer to her children. In addition to raising her two children, Joyce spent her life in Monterey as a dedicated volunteer for many charitable organizations including: The Children's Home Society, Monterey History & Art Association, the American Cancer Society and Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula; where she served as president of the Auxiliary during the mid-1990's. She also enjoyed playing tennis, reading and following news and current events.
    Joyce is survived by her son, Jonathan Schnal, an attorney in Loomis, CA; her daughter, Rachel (Schnal) Silber and son-in-law, Mark, who are raising her two grandchildren, Noah (12) and Maya (8) in El Dorado Hills, CA. She is also survived by her siblings: brother, Clifford Conradt and his wife, Lorraine, Shiocton; twin sister, Jean Arneson, Clintonville; brother, William Conradt and his wife, Betty, Shiocton and a brother-in-law, Robert Schnal, and his wife, Joyce, CA. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
    A Memorial service will be held for Joyce on Friday, June 12, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Borchardt & Moder Funeral Home in Shiocton, with Rev. Michael Isbill officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
