    Obituary:
Donald Roy Pamperin, 88, passed away peacefully Monday, August 29, 2016 in Green Bay, WI. He was born on July 17, 1928, to Grover and Elizabeth (MacAllister) Pamperin in Duck Creek, WI, one of four children. Don went to school at Pamperin School in Duck Creek, graduated from Green Bay West High School in 1945, and went on to St. Norbert College. He met his beautiful bride, Ruth Marie (Johnson) Pamperin at a country dance hall in Mill Center and they were married in 1950 at Union Congregational Church with a reception at Pamperin Park. Ruth preceded him in death on April 17, 2010. They were married for 60 wonderful years.
Don was hired by Wisconsin Bell in 1947, and he retired almost 40 years later. He began as an installer and ended his career as Commercial Manager for the Green Bay area. Don also led Wisconsin Bell offices in Marinette, Manitowoc, and Appleton. The Wisconsin Bell family was a family Don was fond of and he shared many Ma Bell outings with his wife and children. He made life-long friends and was loved by everyone as he established a successful career he fondly recollected in retirement.
Don's Green Bay roots were deep. He was the last Pamperin son to help farm the Pamperin homestead that was founded in 1857. It was that homestead where his family values were shaped by his father and mother and where he formed a lifetime bond and friendship with his two sisters and brother. Don gained an appreciation for the outdoors and his passions for hunting and fishing were part of growing up on a farm.
He was an active community member, a passionate family man, and a great friend. Don got great joy from conversing with all he met. He enjoyed visiting with friends; whether it be on a dock in the Northwoods, in a boat waiting for the walleye to bite or the ducks to fly, at the card table, on the ice of the Green Bay Curling Club, at a breakfast diner with old friends, at family gatherings or on the phone with his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He enjoyed talking about issues of the day and Wisconsin's famous sports teams. His love for conversation and people fed his activity in the community, giving back with the Lions and Rotary Clubs as well as the Telephone Pioneers.
Don is survived by his four sons and daughters-in-law; David (Susan), Paul, Peter (Barbara), Steve; grandchildren; Aaron and Lauren (Alex Knight), Taylor Rose (Christopher Maury), Alex and Jack; sisters, Mary (Dr. William) Schubert, Elaine Pamperin; and sister-in-law, Florence (Ralph) Vannes; also, many nieces and nephews whom he cherished.
In addition to his wife, Don was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Beth, and a brother, Thomas (Ida) Pamperin.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 6th at Union Congregational Church, 716 South Madison St., Green Bay. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. to 12 noon followed by a noon service to honor Don's life with Rev. Bridget Flad-Daniels officiating. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Don's name.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the caregivers and medical staff at St. Vincent Hospital and the Jack and Engrid Meng Residence of Unity Hospice.
