    Obituary:
Edward R. Roehrig, age 81, of Marytown, died on Monday November 5, 2007, at All About Life Rehabilitation Center in Fond du Lac. He was born July 19, 1926, on a farm in the Town of Chilton, son of the late Edgar & Salome (Casper) Roehrig. Edward was set up on a blind date and fell madly in love with Doris Mueller, whom he later married at St. Ann's Catholic Church on the beautiful snowy day of March 27, 1971. She preceded him in death on November 19, 2004. During his life, Ed drove Amoco Gas truck for Bill Will of St. Cloud from 1950 until 1998, retiring at the age of 70. Once in retirement, Ed began delivering newspapers for Delta Publications of Kiel. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marytown, American Legion Post in St. Cloud, Marytown Veterans Club and served many years on the Fond du Lac County Board. Ed was an avid Green Bay Packers fan who had season tickets ever since Lambeau Field opened. He also enjoyed playing golf, was a member of the Marytown Athletic Club, East Shore Baseball League and was the first person to hit a home run out of the Marytown Baseball Diamond. Beyond sports, Edward had a love for music and played accordion for the 5E's. Ed was most proud to be a United States Veteran. He was drafted into the U.S. Navy in 1944 and attended basic training in Great Lakes, Illinois. He then transferred to Camp Bradford in Virginia for Gunnery and Amphibious training. When training was complete, he had the honor of serving during WWII on the USS Wisconsin. Since that time, he has attended several USS Wisconsin reunions to share time and memories with his shipmates.
Survivors include his children: Jeff (Julie) Roehrig of Fond du Lac, Julie (Scot) Wagner of Deerfield; three grandchildren: Emily and Megan Roehrig and Augustus "Augie" Wagner; two brothers: Richard (Shirley) Roehrig and Lester (Delores) Roehrig; two sisters: Grace (Kenneth) Wirth & Elsie Dorn; and a sister-in-law: Millie Roehrig.
Ed was also preceded in death by a brother: Leander Roehrig and a brother-in-law: Ray Dorn.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2007, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marytown with the Rev. Joe Coerber officiating. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4 until 8 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2007, and on Saturday at the FUNERAL HOME from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. when family prayers will be held.
