    Obituary:
    Sister Mary Vincent Arts, 83, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003. The daughter of John and Bardina Kempen Arts was born on June 23, 1920, in Hollandtown, Wis. She entered the Community of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross, Bay Settlement in September 1940. She was received into the order August 1941 and pronounced her final vows in August 1949. In 2001, she celebrated her diamond jubilee.
    Sister Mary Vincent ministered at the McCormick Memorial Home for many years. She returned to the Motherhouse at Bay Settlement in 1961 and was engaged in various areas of community service. Sister Mary Vincent is remembered by all who knew her for her smile and joyful spirit. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo. She also collected stamps for the missions.
    Sister Mary Vincent is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Vincent and Mary Arts, Virgil and Betty Arts one sister, Viola Hoffmann and a brother-in law Richard Wacynski nieces, nephews and cousins and by the members of her Community, the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross.
    She was preceded in death by her parents a brother, Victor Arts a sister, Valeria Wacynski.
    Visitation for Sister Mary Vincent will be at St. Francis Convent, 3025 Bay Settlement Rd., from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, with reception of the body at 4 p.m. and Wake Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Wednesday, Aug. 13 from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. Father Richard Mauthe presiding. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
    The Sisters of St. Francis and the family of Sister Mary Vincent wish to express their sincere thanks to the nursing staffs at Brown County Mental Health Center and Parkview Nursing Home who gave such loving care to Sister.

    Valeria E. (Arts) Wacynski, Valeria Elaine (Arts) Wacynski, 80, of Wisconsin Rapids and Apache Junction, Ariz., completed her sojourn on earth Thurs day, Dec. 26, 2002, at Mayo Clinic Hos-pital in Scotts-dale, Ariz.Memorial services will be held over Val's ashes in Apache Junction and Wis consin Rapids at a later date.Val was born on June 2, 1922, in Marshfield, to John and Bardine Arts. S he married Richard J. Wacynski on Jan. 13, 1945, and together they had fo ur children.They spent the majority of their married life in Tomah and Wisconsin Rapi ds while enjoying winters in Apache Junction since their retirement. Val w orked various jobs over the years but is probably best known as "The Kni fe Lady" at the Flea Market in Adams where she spent her summers for the p ast 13 years. She was spiritually blessed by all of the kind people she m et there.She was also known for her vast knowledge of health, nutrition and supplem ents. Those who knew Val would attest to her vital health over the years u ntil she was hit by illness in May 2002. Although an early stage cancer w as removed in June and she was released without need for further treatmen t, her health continued to deteriorate. All testing done throughout the ye ar was inconclusive but an autopsy revealed additional cancer. Before h er illness, Val found joy in the company of others, especially playing car ds and relaxing at the casino.Survivors include her husband, Richard J. Wacynski, of Wisconsin Rapids a nd Apache Junction; children, Sondra Gray, San Francisco; Randy Alan, Arli ngton Heights, Ill.; Jay Wacynski, Apache Junction, and Nancy Grimes, Wisc onsin Rapids; two grandchildren, Alisa Rudd and Kayla Grimes; siblings, Vi ola Hoffman, Rudolph; Sister Mary Vincent, Green Bay; Vincent (Mary) Art s, Madison, and Virgil (Betty) Arts, Nekoosa.She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother (Victor Arts).
