Obituary:
Sloboda, Annette, C. (Fox) Annette C. Sloboda passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2004 at Rennes Health C are Center in Appleton. Annette was born November 22, 1921 in Mario n, WI to Edward P. and Anne Born Fox (Fuchs). She graduated from Marion Hi gh School in 1939 and was salutatorian of her class. Annette graduated fr om Whitewater State Teachers College in 1943 with a degree in High Scho ol Commercial Education. In 1971, she received her Masters Degree from Whi tewater. From 1943-1945, she taught at Kewaunee High School. Annette th en taught at Marion High School from 1945-1950. She moved to Appleton in 1 950 and was private secretary to the president at the Appleton Wire Wor ks for 3 Years. Then private secretary to the advertising manager at Marat hon Corporation. Annette was also private secretary to the secretary treas urer of Home Mutual for 8 years. She then returned to teaching business ed ucation in the Appleton Public Schools in 1966. Annette taught 1 year at A ppleton West and 17 years at Appleton East. She retired in 1984. She marri ed Donald Sloboda on November 5, 1960 and he preceded her in death on Mar ch 29, 1994. She was secretary-treasurer of the Whitewater Alumni Associat ion in the Fox Valley for many years. As a life member of the DAVA, she w as instrumental in starting the Women's Auxiliary. Annette was a memb er of Sigma Sigma Sigma National Sorority and a member of the VFW Auxiliar y. She was a life member of the Military Veterans Museum. Annette loved an imals and was surrounded by pets all of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by loving cousins and dear friends, who were so helpf ul in her times of need and a foster daughter, LaVerne Riedle. She fond ly remembered many of her former students and hoped she gave them a good s tart in the business world. Her cremated remains will be buried at the Wisconsin State Veterans Cemete ry at King next to her husband. A graveside service will be held on Octob er 8, 2004 at 11 a.m. with Chaplain Wayne Schwanke officiating. Memorials may be made to the Military Veterans Museum, P.O. Box 511, Neen ah WI 54957. No words are adequate to thank the entire staff at Rennes Health Care Cent er for their loving and wonderful care of Annette.
