    Obituary:
John (Jack) Lemirande, a former Green Bay resident, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, at the Wisconsin Veteran's Home in King. He was born to John and Anna Lemirande, in Oconto Falls, on May 10, 1924. As a young man, Jack served his country by enlisting in the Navy during World War II. His aircraft carrier, the U.S.S. Gambier Bay, was sunk in the battle of Leyte Gulf in the Philippines. Jack was one of the survivors floating in the ocean for days until they were rescued. After his enlistment, Jack met and married his wife of 59 years, Laverne (Mecklenburg) on Valentine's Day, 1946. Jack and Laverne lived their entire lives in Green Bay. Jack started his carrier with Phillips Petroleum Company and was employed with Phillips for 19 years. He then started his own company as a heating contractor, The Central Hydronic Heating Company, which he ran until health issues forced him to make one last career change. His final working years were spent with the city of Green Bay in their maintenance department.
Jack was a life long active member of the VFW Post 7534 in Duck Creek. Throughout his life he enjoyed outdoors, hunting, fishing, feeding the birds and many good times with family and friends. Jack also enjoyed spending time with his three grandchildren, Sara, Brian and Ann.
Jack is survived by his son, Bruce and his wife, Mary, Howard; his daughter, Susan De Both and her husband, Royce, Green Lake; grandchildren, Sara Lemirande, Ann and Pat Laurent, and Brian De Both; great-grandchildren, Mikayla De Both, Patrick and Ian Laurent; brother-in-law, Jack Mecklenburg and his wife, Fran, Concord, Calif.; brother-in-law, Earl Redmann, Portland, Maine; sisters-in-law, Reta Lemirande, Oconto Falls and Germaine Natrop, Sun City Center, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Laverne; brothers, Gordon, Vince, Norbert (Bud), Carl and sisters, Marce, Aggie and Alyce.
Friends may call at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1420 Division St., on Wednesday, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at the church, with the Rev. Don Everts officiating. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Jack's family would like to extend a special thank you to Sandy Saterfield, Susan Martenson and the entire staff and residents on Ainsworth Hall, 3rd floor, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home for all the love and great care that they gave Jack and his family during his stay.
A memorial fund had been established in his name. To send online condolences please go to www.blaneyfuneralhome.com
