Obituary:
Clara Alma Matilda Luedke, Neenah, age 91, went to her eternal home on Monday, November 24, 2008. Clara was born August 21, 1917, in East Bloomfield, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Leo and Elda (Young) Frebel. She married Martin Luedke on July 21, 1937. He preceded her in death on May 15, 1987.
Clara was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Neenah and also a member of their Ladies Aide. God blessed us with a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Clara, a Christian woman, dedicated her life to her family. She led by her example of being hard working with seldom complaint. Starting from a young age, she worked on her family's farm in East Bloomfield; later again she worked the farm alongside her husband, Martin, during their early years of marriage. Clara and Martin relocated their family to Menasha where she worked in a domestic capacity for many area families, a job she continued to perform into her early seventies. Her greatest legacy left to her family was her example of Christian faith and her heart of gold, endless compassion, unconditional love and support. Everyone knew that her door was always open, whether to give advice or a listening ear, and no one ever left hungry. She was a woman of grace and beauty whose memory will never be extinguished from our hearts. Clara enjoyed praying, reading, gardening, cooking (Grandma's chili was the best!), baking, traveling, music, polka dancing and spending time with family and friends.
Clara is survived by four sons: Ronald (Mary) Luedke, Charles (Ardis) Luedke, James (Nan) Luedke, Artie Luedke; five daughters: Darlene (Carl) Peters, Donna (Robert) Osthimer, Mary (Richard) Platta, Linda Heisel and Julie Luedke. She is further survived by twelve grandchildren: Jerome (Michaelene), Karen, Brian, Kim (Cory), Kelly (Glenn), Brett, Andria, Jenny, Shane (Elizabeth), Katrina (Andrew), Justine and Jordania (John); as well as eleven great-grandchildren: Jonathan, Joshua, Caroleann, Jericho, Alexa, Macie, Makayla, Lexie, Arial, Ethan and Jordan; a special sister, Ruby Hartfiel; along with other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2008, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 407 Oak St., Neenah, with the Rev. D.J. Engelbrecht officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of service.
