    Richard L. (Dick) Kumbalek, age 76, of 4412 Just Court, Manitowoc, entered into eternal life on Sunday, August 24, 2008, with his family by his side at the Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers, after an 11 month courageous battle with cancer. Dick was born on September 9, 1931, in Appleton, Wisconsin. He was the son of the late Norbert and Lydia (Eichhorst) Kumbalek.
    He will be sadly missed by his family: his wife, Ellen, of 53 years; four children: son, Thomas R. Kumbalek, Manitowoc; three daughters and sons-in-law: Susan and Timothy Huebner, Manitowoc; Lori and Mark Volpintesta, Appleton, WI; Peggy and James Wright, Sussex, WI; five grandchildren: Justin Huebner, Two Rivers; Sarah Huebner and special friend Brandon, Manitowoc; Dylan and Collin Volpintesta, Appleton, WI; Elena Wright, Sussex, WI; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Harold and Mary Ann Kumbalek, Sun Prairie; John and Carol Jane Kumbalek, Manitowoc; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Lois and Steve Loveless, Mishicot, WI; Shirley Brunette, Fond du Lac, WI; three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law: Alice and Ray Krutzik, Kiel, WI; Marge Krueger, Chilton, WI; Stan and Kathy Krueger, Marshfield, WI; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Bennie and Elsie Krueger; a sister: Janice Reinemann; two brothers: Norman Krueger and Jerome Brunette, Jr.
    Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, 901 Pine Street, Manitowoc. Officiating will be Rev. Paul Schossow and Rev. Nicholas Maglietto. Burial will follow at Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Highway 310, Manitowoc, with military rites accorded by the VFW Post #6707 of Kiel. Relatives and friends may call at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Memorials would be appreciated to Immanuel Ev. Lutheran School or Manitowoc Lutheran High School. The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair Streets, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
