    Laurin H. "Bud" Miller Jr., of Appleton, age 86, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2009, at Cherry Meadows Hospice. He was born on November 13, 1922, in Oshkosh, the son of the late Laurin H. Miller Sr. and Amy (Stille) Miller.
    After honorably serving his country in the Air Force, Bud married Mary Jeanne Dexter on October 4, 1947. He was employed by Wisconsin Telephone Company for 35 years. Working and relaxing with family at the summer home on Pine Lake in Shawano County is what made Bud the happiest.
    Survivors include his wife, Mary, children: Dana (Rita) Miller, Breckenridge, Colorado; Laurin III (Leslie) Miller, Pewaukee; Joel Miller, Appleton; grandchildren: Kathryn (Nick) Sterling, Silver Spring, Maryland; Lisa Young, Los Angeles, California; Mason Miller, Appleton; Haley Miller, Appleton and great-grandchildren, Caleb Sterling and Leah Sterling. Further survived by brother, John Miller, and sister, JoAnn Zwirchitz, both of Oshkosh, as well as many nieces and nephews.
    Preceded in death by his sister, Susan Bartels in 1997.
    A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 N. Superior Street, Appleton, with the Rev. Dick Schaefer officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family will be donated in Bud's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
    The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Fox River Assisted Living for their care and support during Bud's four years there.
