Age 77, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday March 8, 2006 at Appleton Medical Center. Lois was born on March 19, 1928 in Wrightstown, WI to the late Louis and Elizabeth (Meecham) Schneider. Lois was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school in her early years. She married Russell Smith on January 31st 1948. He preceded her in death on October 5th 2000 after 52 years of marriage. Lois fulfilled her life as a wife to Russell and a mother to her children Robert (fiancé Carol Garny) Smith, Appleton and Randy (Jan) Smith, Hazelhurst.
Lois is further survived by her three granddaughters: Sari (Jason) Ashauer, Appleton; Jennifer Smith, Appleton; and Kristine (Todd) Boerboom, Chattanooga, TN; great grandchildren Zachary and Rebecca Ashauer and Alexa Boerboom; sisters: Mary (Clayton) Bries, Sheboygan; Carol Hanson, Arkansas; Norma (friend Daryl) Wondra Fond du Lac; sister-in-law Arlene Schneider, Green Bay; brother-in-law Clifford Braeger, Greenville; goddaughter Sally Follet, Texas and many other family and friends. In addition to her parents Lois was preceded in death by a brother Louis; sister Jane Kalupa; sister-in-law Jean Braeger and daughter-in-law Sandra Smith. .
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday March 13, 2006 at Zion Lutheran Church, 912 N Oneida Street, Appleton with Pastor Larry W. Matthews officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday March 12, 2006 from 4:00-7:00pm at Valley Funeral Home and on Monday March 13, 2006 from 9:30am until the time of service at the church. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
