    Notes:

    Obituary:
Karen Thurk Schindler, age 67, went home to be with her Savior on Saturday, June 9, 2012, following a five-year battle with cancer. Karen was born in Appleton on December 22, 1944, daughter of the late Kenneth and Virginia (Empereur) Thurk. Karen will be remembered for her generous spirit as she loved to volunteer her time and talents, particularly with nursing home residents and others who were confined to their homes. She loved fishing, shopping, and spending time vacationing in Minocqua and in Minnesota. Karen was an accomplished crafter, and loved needlework of all kinds - sewing, cross stitch, and crocheting. She also loved rummage saling and treasured her time with her family, playing duplicate bridge, and the St. Petersburg Pier.
Karen is survived by her loving husband of forty-seven years: Gary Schindler; two wonderful daughters: Lynette (Jay) Gray of Amherst and Laura (Drew) Brokl of Bloomington, Minnesota; four special grandsons: Brandon Roberts, Ryan Brokl, Josh Brokl, and Lucas Brokl; her favorite granddaughter: Emily Gray; and her father-in-law: C. Robert Schindler; as well her many dear friends. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, a son: Scott Schindler; her half-brother: Daniel Thurk; her step-mother: Laverne (Senecal) Thurk; and her mother-in-law: Rita Schindler.
A memorial mass for Karen will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1810 N. McDonald Street in Appleton, with Fr. Gerald Falk officiating. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Wautoma. Friends may call at the church on Thursday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
The family would like to thank the many caregivers who looked after Karen, both in St. Petersburg and in Appleton. We will never forget your kindness.
