She was born on August 14, 19 26 in Bear Creek; the daughter of Cornelius and Louise (Vanden Elzen) Peet ers.     Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Hansen, age 84, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2014, St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac. On December 15, 1929, Betty was born in Deer Creek to Cornelius and Louise (Van den Elzen) Peeters. She was united in marriage to James Hansen on November 20, 1951; he preceded her in death on August 10, 2002. Betty was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Menasha and volunteered her time in the church, school, and the cafeteria. She loved the Packers and went to many games, including the Ice Bowl in 1967. Betty enjoyed spending time at her cottage on Shawano Lake with her family. She had a love for dancing and enjoyed Polkas and Waltzes.
    Betty will be missed by her daughters: Gladys Hansen, Ann (Mike) Coughlin, Janet (Tom) Wagner; her grandchildren: April Wagner, Jamie, Michelle, and Tom Coughlin; a brother-in-law, Willis Fritz; sister-in-law, Helen Mae Peeters; and other relatives and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her sisters: Agnes (Herb) Hooyman, Dorothy (James) Mackowiac, Helen (John) Mackowiac, Rose Mary Peeters and Rose Fritz; and three brothers: Anthony, Martin and Joseph Peeters.
    The Funeral Mass for Betty will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, November 28, 2014, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 528 Second Street in Menasha with Fr. Paul Paider officiating. The Rosary will be recited from 9:00-9:30am with the Visitation starting at 9:30am until the time of the Mass at the church. Interment will take place at St. Mary Cemetery in the Town of Menasha. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.

    Helen Josephine (Peeters) Mackowiak, age 78, of Manawa passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2010, after a lengthy illness at Greentree Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born September 10, 1932, in Deer Creek WI, to daughter of the late Cornelius & Louise (VanDenElzen) Peeters. She was employed at Clintonville Glove Factory until 1955, at which time she married John Mackowiak. Together they raised six children on the family farm east of Manawa, WI. Helen was very involved with 4-H, as a leader of the Wisconsin Workers 4-H club. She worked with the lunch program at Manawa Middle School until 2002. She was a long standing member of both St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lebanon and the St. Agnes Alter Society. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, bowling and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
    Helen is survived by a son, David Mackowiak, Manawa; daughters, Donna (Trent) Ellifson, Strum; Linda (Don) Sanderfoot, Appleton; Jo Ann Mackowiak, Manawa; Kris (Peter) Thompson, Manawa; sister, Elizabeth Hansen, Fond du Lac; grandchildren, Benjamin Upward, Tacoma, WA; Timothy Upward, Chippewa Falls, WI; Theresa Stevens, Colorado Springs, CO; Carl Sanderfoot, Appleton; Jessica, Allison & Alex Thompson, Manawa; great-grandchildren, Blakelyn Upward & Anna Stevens.     William "Bill" C. Peeters, Sr., 72, of Navarino, passed away Friday, November 20, 2015 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born May 27, 1943, son of the late Christian and Angarose (Wilfur) Peeters. On May 18, 1963, he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Hanus at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Navarino.
    Bill graduated from Clintonville High School in 1961. Participated in the band and played on the football team.
    He was a member of St. Lawrence Parish in Navarino. Bill and Mary Ellen farmed for 20+ years. After farming, worked at Ripley Produce, Reinhard Foods and retired from Appleton Coated Paper in Combine Locks. He enjoyed participating on pool leagues, bowling leagues, hunting including trips to Wyoming, Nebraska and Canada. Bill was well known for his chainsaw carvings, some of which he was proud to donate to local fundraisers.
    He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen; children: Christine (Jerry) Raddant, Shawano; William, Jr. (Sherri) Peeters, Seymour; Mark (Terri) Peeters, Black Creek; Cheryl (David Moericke) Krum, Texas; Kelly (Cliff) Krull, Navarino; Kevin (Linda) Peeters, Pulaski; 15 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings: Mary (Haze) Diemel, Chuck (Lori) Peeters, Pat (David) Pues and Kathy (Jerry) Senzig; numerous nieces and nephews.

    Young, James J. James J. Young, age 76 years, of Clintonville, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at St. Joseph Residence, New London. James John Young was born August 23, 1931, in New London to the late Theodore and Anna Marie (Peters) Young. He was united in marriage on October 14, 1953, to Beatrice Carol Desmond at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bear Creek. The couple farmed for many years just east of Bear Creek. After selling the farm, Jim worked for Larsen's Cooperative in New London, selling seed to area farmers for over 10 years. The couple moved to Clintonville in the late 1970s. His wife, Carol, preceded him in death on March 25, 2004. Jim is a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bear Creek, and is currently a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, Clintonville. Jim enjoyed fishing, wood crafts, gardening, watching and feeding the birds, and playing cards, especially sheepshead.
    Survivors include eight children: Joan Reissmann, Neenah; Michael (Cathy) Young, Appleton; Margie Carpenter, Navarino; Marie (Rusty) Wied, Weyauwega; Shirley (Karol) Young, Madison; Frank Young, Clintonville; Steve (Jill) Young, Clintonville; Andrew Young, Appleton.     Berniece V. Young, Kaukauna Wisconsin, passed away on October 14, 2017. Berniece was born on November 25, 1935 in Deer Creek, Wisconsin to Theodore and Anna (Peeter) Young. She was a graduate of Shiocton High School. On July 14, 1954 she married Ronald J. Young in Bear Creek and he preceded her in death on February 29, 2012. Together, Berniece and Ronald owned and operated R.B. Pallett Service where she worked for over 22 years until her retirement on December 1, 2006. Berniece loved to travel. In her life she was able to attend a World's Fair in Tennessee and 3 Super Bowls. She travelled to Alaska, Florida, New Orleans and Texas. For over 20 years, Berniece and Ronald made annual trips to Hawaii and she always looked forward to that trip. She also went to Guatamala, Barbados, Canada for fishing and Puerto Rico. She was a member of Irish Water and Mid Valley Golf Clubs and on March 17, 2004 she scored a hole-in-one while golfing in a foursome with Ronald and Peg and Dick O'Keefe. She was a longtime member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna.
    She is survived by: seven children: Theresa (Charles) Gilbertson of Kaukauna; Colleen (Tom) Brazee of Appleton; Julie (Roy) Mankovecky of Kaukauna; Laurie (Mark) Rogers of Galesville; Charlene (Steve) Babbitts of Kimberly; Mary (Jim) Keller of Greenville; and "RonRon" Young of Kaukauna; seventeen grandchildren: Carla (Christopher) Busse, Erin (Nathan) Schleicher, Charles E.     Ervin C. Balthazor, 71, Appleton, passed away Monday, January 26, 2009, after a long illness at the Rennes Health Care Center. He was born December 19, 1937, in New London to the late Chester and Catherine (Peeters) Balthazor. Erv married Donna Bergsbaken September 12, 1957, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bear Creek. He served his country in the United States Navy. Erv worked at the Neenah Foundry for 40 years retiring in 2000. He and Donna were members of St. Edward Parish for over 45 years.
    He will be greatly missed by his wife, Donna, Appleton; sons: Steven (Dawn), Black Creek and Richard (Sheila) Green Bay; a daughter, Diane Danley, Appleton; four grandsons: Chad, Erik and Alex Balthazor and Jacob Danley; two sisters: Genevieve (Keith) Leeman, Appleton and Clara (Nelson) Greely, Wild Rose; a brother, Clement (Karen) Balthozor, Bear Creek. He is further survived by three brothers-in-law: Lauren Spoehr, Earl Thoma and Carlton (Twila) Heideman.
    Erv was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Theresa Spoehr, Beatrice Thoma and Josephine Heideman and a grandson, Kyle Danley.
    Funeral services for Erv will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2009, at St. Edward Catholic Church, Mackville with Rev. Norm Krutzik officiating. Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may visit the family Friday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass also at church. A memorial fund is being established.
    The family wishes to thank the staff of Rennes for their patience and compassionate care shown to Erv and his family.

    Shiocton - Paul A. Hooyman, 57, of Shiocton, passed away on February 13, 2018, at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee following a brief illness. He was born on October 15, 1960, son of the late Herbert and Agnes (Peeters) Hooyman.
    Paul graduated from Shiocton High School.
    He was a long-time member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Shiocton and worked at Sturm Foods in Manawa.
    On April 16, 1983 he was united in marriage to Connie Samson, celebrating nearly 35 years as a happily married couple.
    Paul was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, put out set lines, and anything else he could do outside. Spending time in his swimming pool with friends and family was one of his favorite things to do in the summer. He loved to make people laugh and always had a smile on his face. Paul was quick to help anyone in need.
    He is survived by wife Connie; children: Tony (Sarah) Hooyman, Rachel (Mike) Krueger, and Austin Hooyman; grandchildren: Lillian, and two more expected; siblings: Jim (Joy) Hooyman, Jerry (Lorraine) Hooyman, Mary Sue (John) Schmude, Jean (Jerome) Schroth, Rita (Dan) Schroth, Elaine (Dan) Conradt, Carla (Allan) Chizek, Bill Hooyman, and Bonnie Hooyman; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Rose Samson; brothers-in-law, Ken Samson and Randy (Bonny) Samson; sister-in-law, Linda (Don) Stefanic; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Robert and Francis; sister, Joan Hooyman.
    Friends may call at Messiah Lutheran Church, W7574 State Hwy 54, Shiocton on Sunday, February 18, 2018 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Monday, February 19, 2018 at the church from 9:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am with Pastor Bradley Ragner officiating. On June 15, 1974 she was united in marriage to Charles T. Gilbertson. Theresa was a hardworking, stubborn and inspirational person. She was fiercely loyal to her family and friends and was always there for anyone who needed her.     Alan "Uncle Al" Young, age 54 of Hollandtown, passed away on Sunday morning, December 11, 2016, after an ongoing battle with an aneurysm. Al was born in Appleton on April 20, 1962, son of Ronald and Berniece Young. Everyone will remember Al as a fun-loving father and grandfather who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on small engines in his free time. All who knew him also knew this about him: he was just plain naughty!
    Al is survived by his mother: Berniece Young; two sons: Jay Young and Gary (Rachel Beard) Young; five grandchildren: Miah, Ava, and Jacob VanDerSteen and Alexa and Jeremiah Young.     Ann "Anni" VanDerSteen, age 32, of Kaukauna, died on Friday, December 2, 2016 in Hilbert. She was born September 17, 1984 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, daughter of Mary Hopfensperger and Alan Young. Anni graduated from Kaukauna High School, class of 2003 and married Jason VanDerSteen on October 20, 2006 at the St. John Crystal Ballroom.
    Survivors include her husband: Jason; her children: Miah, Ava & Jacob VanDerSteen; her mother and step-father: Mary & David Halbach; her father: Alan Young; her grandmother: Berniece Young; Her father-in-law: Mark VanDerSteen; her mother-in-law: Vickie Miller and her significant other, Robyn Martzahl; 2 brothers: Jay Young & Gary Young and his significant other, Rachel Beard; step-siblings: Pete (Jaime) Halbach, Ann (Joey) Meyers; a niece: Alexa; and a nephew: Jeremiah. She is further survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Robert & Evelyn Hopfensperger and Ronald J. Young.
    Funeral service will be at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3:00 pm until 6:30 pm on Wednesday, December 7, 2016.
    A memorial fund has been established in the name of Ann "Anni" VanDerSteen.

    Miah M. Van Der Steen, Kaukauna, age 13 died peacefully on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born October 9, 2003 in Appleton, WI daughter of Jason Van Der Steen and the late Jaime Petrie and also her adoptive mother, the late Ann "Anni" Van Der Steen. Miah was an "A" Student of the 7th grade at Riverview Middle School in Kaukauna. She participated in many sports, such as track, horseback riding, hunting and fishing. Miah enjoyed spending time with her siblings Ava and Jacob and her extended family and friends.
    She is survived by her father, Jason Van Der Steen; sister, Ava, brother, Jacob, both at home; grandparents: Mark Van Der Steen (special friend April), Vickie Miller (special friend Rob),Bruce (Mickey) Petrie, Jacque Dresang, and Dave (Mary) Halbach; great-grandparents: Carol (Jerry) Van Der Steen, Paul (Eileen) Petrie, Marie Miller, and Berniece Young; three uncles and an aunt: Paul (fiancée Kristen), Jay, Gary, and Angie (Ed) Gonnering. She is further survived by numerous other friends and relatives.
    She was preceded in death by her mothers: Jaime Petrie and Anni Van Der Steen; grandfather, Al Young, great-grandfathers: Jerome Miller and Ronald Young, great-grandparents: Bob and Evelyn Hopfensperger.
    Funeral services for Miah will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH at ST. MARY CHURCH, 119 West Seventh St., Kaukauna with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating.
