Obituary:
Marie C. (Santkuyl) Benzschawel, 101, formerly of Appleton, passed away Monday, August 24, 2009, at Sauk County Health Care Center after a 16-year illness with Alzheimer's. She was born in the Netherlands on March 16, 1908, to John and Maria Santkuyl. Marie married Andrew Benzschawel on October 10, 1936. They had celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary together in 2001. She enjoyed caring for and spending time with her grandchildren; working in her flower gardens and going to antique and flea markets with Andy.
She will be sadly missed by her son, James (Barbara) Benzschawel, Appleton; daughter, Maryln Stiebs, Waupaca; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew; daughter, Judy Benzschawel; her parents; three brothers and three sisters.
Services for Marie will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2009, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Appleton, with Deacon Rick Simon officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Appleton. Friends may visit the family Friday at the church from 2 - 4 p.m.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Sauk County Health Care Medical staff and aids for all the special care given to Marie through the years.
