    James "Jim" Schwentner, age 81, of Clintonville passed away Monday, October 27, 2014 at ThedaCare Medical Center, New London.
    James Joseph Schwentner was born February 12, 1933 in Kaukauna to Wenzel and Lila (Boll) Schwentner. After graduating from Wausau High School he entered the U.S. Army and served in Panama from 1953 to 1955. Jim graduated from college and later received a Master's Degree in Education. For many years he was employed in the Clintonville School District whether teaching history or working as a guidance counselor for the high school or middle school, retiring in the mid 1980's. Jim was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Marion, where he regularly attended Rosary and devoted time to the Knights of Columbus. He is also a member of the American Legion Post #63, Clintonville.
    He especially enjoyed coaching hard ball, announcing Trucker baseball on the radio for so many years, and volunteering as a weight lifting instructor. Jim loved the Clintonville area and always liked following high school sports of all kinds. He proudly supported waterfowl conservation as well and helped organize some of the area's first Ducks Unlimited Banquets. Jim is also a former City of Clintonville Alderman, serving with numerous local projects during his tenure.
    Survivors include one sister, Nancy Thomas of Milwaukee, and 10 nieces and nephews; Mary (Jim) Fahley, Jean Berkahn, John (Colleen) Berkahn, David Berkahn, Nancy (Steve) Garske, Jim (Beth) Thomas, Paul (Kathy) Thomas, Mary Thomas, Alex (Diane) Thomas, and Kate Helsper. He is further survived by many great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Kate Berkahn, two brothers-in-law, John Thomas and Jack Berkahn, and two nephews, Charles and Joe Thomas.
    A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, November 7th at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Marion. Fr. Patrick Lloyd will officiate and inurnment will be at a later date at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Antigo. Military Honors will be provided at the church by members of the American Legion Post #63 and VFW Post #664, both of Clintonville. The family will visit with relatives and friends after the mass during the luncheon at church.
