J. H. Kampo. An Appleton Student. Accused of a Serious Offense
James H. Kampo. a young Appleton resident was brought up for trial in municipal court this morning: on the charge of obtaining money under false pretences. The case was adjourned until August 29, and Kampo remanded to Jail to await trial. Kampo was arrested August 11 on a warrant sworn out by Fred Hellach of Menasha. and the complaint sets forth that Kampo pretended to be taking orders for The Milwaukee Sentinel and offered to deliver the paper for three months for 25 cents cash. Hellach subscribed and paid Kampo the money, but received no paper. Investigation showed that no such man as Kampo was in the employ of The Sentinel company. Kampo was arrested on the above charge and brought before Justice McCabe August 12. He took the stand in his own behalf and testified as follows:….

Eleanor Catherine Cooney, 97, New London, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at St. Joseph Residence in New London. She was born on April 9, 1914, in Hortonville, daughter of the late Anton and Mary (Moder) Schuh. She was married to Charles M. Cooney for 59 years before his death in 1997.
Eleanor enjoyed shopping and playing bridge. She was a long-time member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church.
She is survived by three sons, Rev. David Cooney, S.D.S., McMinnville, Tenn.; Robert (Kathy) Cooney, San Mateo, Fla.; Rev. Arthur Cooney, O.F.M. Cap., Appleton.; two daughters, Sharon (Bill) Butler, Appleton; Sandra (Roger) Lindow, New London. She is further survived by 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Denis; her husband, Charles; four brothers, two sisters, her parents; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, William and Anna (Brohan) Cooney, and their ten sons and three daughters.
The Funeral Mass for Eleanor will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at the Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London, with Fr. David Cooney, S.D.S. and Fr. David Lewis concelebrating. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in the Most Precious Blood Parish Cemetery.

Beverly Molitor, 76, of Kaukauna, died March 31, 2011, at home. Born on March 1, 1935, in Elcho, a daughter of the late Ray and Viola (Dunn) Schuh. She married John "Pat" Molitor on May 1, 1954, in Elcho. He preceded her in death on June 4, 1992. She was raised in Elcho and graduated from Elcho High School in 1953. Mrs. Molitor was a homemaker most of her life raising seven children in Antigo. She worked in the respritory therapy department at Langlade Hospital in Antigo from 1982 to 1993 and moved to Kaukauna in 2006.
Survivors include four daughters Linda (Tom) Hart, Casper, Wyoming, Diane (Larry) Schremp, Dixon, Illinois, Sandy (Michael) Sylfest, Appleton, Kathy (George) Steckbauer, New London; two sons Mike (Roxanne) Molitor, Hatley, Patrick Molitor, Mosinee; 20 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; a brother Edwin (Arleen) Schuh, Antigo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, a daughter, Mary Kay Molitor; two grandchildren John Molitor and Joshua Sylfest; two brothers and seven sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. at Bradley Funeral Home, Hwy 45 in Antigo with Fr. Jerome Pastors from Kaukauna officiating. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Antigo. Visitation Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of services at the Bradley Funeral Home.

A private person, she took great pride in cleanliness and ord erliness in her home and her life. “A clean lintel is a sign of a clean ho use.” After Bill’s death , she worked as a housekeeper for 16 years at t he Holy Name Rectory, Kimberly, thoroughly enjoying taking care of the pri ests - “her boys” and their home. Donald J. Stuyvenberg of Appleton, age 87, passed away on Sunday, March 4th, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Don was born in Appleton on March 25th, 1924 son of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Plesser) Stuyvenberg. He was married to Dorothy Hopfensperger from 1943 until her passing in 1988. Together they raised four children: Sally Kaney (special friend Greg Lauer) of Kaukauna, Sandy (Dan) Van Gompel of Temecula, CA, Cindy (Dan) Haen of Kaukauna & Bill (Tina) Stuyvenberg of Covington, GA; grandchildren: Michael Kaney, Craig, Brett & Derek Van Gompel, Amy & Nick Haen and Liz, Lauren and Anna Stuyvenberg. Don is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Ashlyn, Reid and Dylan Van Gompel.In 1991, Don married the second love of his life, Ginger Welhouse and enjoyed 21 years of happiness. Throughout their years together they enjoyed their dog Charlie, family gatherings, traveling, gardening, Lake Park Swim & Fitness Club and then in the later years baking cookies and pies.
Don graduated from Kimberly High School in 1941. He then joined the U.S. Army Air Corp where he served in Italy from 1941 to 1945 as a captain on a B-24 bomber. He was a navigator bombardier and flew in 27 missions receiving numerous medals. After proudly serving his country, he was employed by Kimberly-Clark as an electrician. He followed this endeavor as an employee of Lawrence University retiring as the Physical Plant Director. He enjoyed many years at the family cottage at Lake Poygan and playing golf in his earlier years. He will be remembered for using his "handyman" talents to help his family and friends. On August 31st, 2010 Don thoroughly enjoyed attending the Air Force Honor Flight in Washington D.C.
Along with his children and grandchildren, he is survived by his loving wife Ginger; brother, Gene; sisters: Betty Ludwig and Mary "Pete" & Larry VanderPas; sisters-in-law: Nori, June, Nancy, Karen and Pat Stuyvenberg, Bea Hopfensperger, Ruth (Norb) DeCoster and Jane Christensen; and also special friends, George & Laurie VanBeek. He is preceded in death by his brothers: Ken, Robert, Paul, Jerry and Dick Stuyvenberg; and his sister: Rita (Carl) Rehfeldt.
Don's family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital, especially Dr. Baum, Dr. Jack Meyer, Dr. Gregory and the nursing and CNA staff on 2nd Floor Cardiac Unit and 4th Floor South.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 8th, 2012 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Combined Locks at 6:00 p.m. with Fr. Andy officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Kaukauna.

Rita J. Rehfeldt, 83, of East Dubuque, IL., formerly of Appleton, Wisconsin died at 5:40 a.m. Friday, December 9, 2011 at Dubuque Nursing & Rehab Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 15, 2011 at St. Mary's Church in East Dubuque, with Rev. Jim Parker officiating. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery.
Family visitation will be Thursday morning at the Miller Funeral Home.
Rita was born on June 7, 1928 in Appleton, Wisconsin, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Plesser) Stuyvenberg. She married Carl A. Rehfeldt in February of 1955 at Appleton. He preceded her in death on April 11, 2004. Rita and Carl resided in East Dubuque since 1973.
She was a diehard Green Bay Packer and Chicago Cubs fan, loved working crossword puzzles and enjoyed a good game of cards. Rita was an excellent cook and made the best batch of scotch-a-roos. She loved spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren. Rita was a member of St. Mary's Church and its Altar & Rosary society.
Surviving are three children, Patty (Nick) Mavrogianis, Mt. Prospect, IL., Steven (Nancee) Rehfeldt of Littleton, CO. and Bob (Sue) Rehfeldt of Dubuque, IA., Seven grandchildren: Kristin and Matt Rehfeldt, Alyssa and Kayte Mavrogianis, Ryan, Emily and Taylor Rehfeldt. Her siblings, Don (Ginger) Stuyvenberg of Kaukauna, Wisconsin; Gene Stuyvenberg of Kimberly, Wisconsin; Betty Ludwig of Chilton, Wisconsin and Mary "Pete" Vander Pas of Kimberly.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Ken, Bob, Paul, Jerry and Dick Stuyvenberg.

Stuyvenberg, Paul N., 1 19 S. John Street, KimberlyAge 70, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at the Oshkosh Medical a nd Rehabilitation Center. Paul was born in Appleton on December 18, 193 2, son of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Plesser) Stuyvenberg. On July 1, 1 957 he married the former Nancy Ayers in Appleton; she survives. For near ly forty years, Paul was employed at the Kimberly Mill, retiring in 198 8. In his younger years, Paul had his own tree-trimming business in the ar ea. As a young man, he and his dad operated a Christmas tree lot at the ir home, and since his marriage to Nancy, the family has continued the tra dition. Paul was a busy husband and father, having been a member of the Ki mberly Volunteer Fire Department for nineteen years. He also enjoyed bowli ng with the firefighters in the Mill League and with Nancy in the KRA Coup les League, hunting, fishing, boating, watching Packer games, visiting t he casino, playing cards, watching his grandchildren pursue their activiti es, spending time at the family cottage on Lake Poygan and at his tree fa rm in Bowler. John Paul Locksmith, 79, Augusta, Ga., passed away Nov. 25, in Orlando, Fla. Jack was a practicing radiologist for the majority of his professional career and taught at MCG for the last 15 years of his career.
He studied his high school years at St. Francis Seminary in Milwaukee, then attended Marquette University for undergraduate studies and Medical School. He also served as a flight surgeon in the United States Air Force.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marylyn (Goodwine) Locksmith; four children, Greg (Mary Anne), Kristin (Rudy) Guy, Geoff (Jennifer); eight grandchildren, Jack, Mary Jane, Ben, Anna Davis, Joe, Tim and John Locksmith and Audrey Locksmith. Katherine Mary Schuh Evans, 90, died February 12, 2012, at Peabody Manor in Appleton. Katherine was born in Appleton on April 14th, 1921, the daughter of the late Therese and Matt Schuh. She attended Rosary College in River Forest, Illinois, graduating in 1943 with a Bachelors degree in Library Science.Katherine then worked as a librarian at the Great Lakes Naval Base in Waukegan, Illinois, where she met her husband, Jim Evans, who was a stationed there with the Navy. They were married on July 13, 1946, and moved to Appleton.Katherine raised five children and volunteered at St. Marys grade school, where she also ran the school library. A devoted wife and mother, she loved books, needlepoint and knitting, and was an avid bridge player. Eugene J. Nieuwenhuis, age 86, of Kimberly, died peacefully, Tuesday, January 2, 2007, at home, surrounded by his family. He was born January, 17, 1920, to the late John and Mary (Schuh) Nieuwenhuis, in Hortonia, where he lived and worked on the family farm, until his marriage. He was employed in electrical maintenance at Fox Valley Technical College, until his retirement in 1982. Eugene enjoyed camping, repairing items for his family and friends and was an avid supporter of high school sports. Gene also kept busy by making rosaries for the first communicants at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Sturgeon Bay.
He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and a volunteer at St. Joseph Food Pantry.

After a long and beautiful life, Edith Cecelia Fuss, age 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Rennes Health and Rehab Center in Appleton.
Edith was born on April 3, 1922 in the town of Hortonia, Outagamie County the daughter of the late John and Mary (Schuh) Nieuwenhuis and attended Hortonville schools. In 1941, Edith was united in marriage to Melvin R. Fuss and he preceded her in death on December 5, 1972. Together, they farmed in Shiocton for many years and later, was employed with the Toy Factory in Hortonville until her retirement. Edith was a longtime member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Appleton. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, crocheting, gardening, fishing, hunting, traveling, going to the casino, playing cards, and taking trips up north to the cottage on Pelican Lake. Edith was a very devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and lovingly shared in all their milestones, birthdays, graduations, weddings, births, and special events. Edith truly was the pillar of the family and will be greatly missed.
Edith is lovingly survived by her daughter, Mary Fuss, Appleton; four grandchildren, Robin (Richard) Miller, Belgium, WI; Angela (Michael) Forry, Appleton; Christopher (Theresa) Herman, Fort Lauderdale, FL; and Mark Herman, Appleton; six great-grandchildren, Samantha, Dakota and Cole Miller; Kaitlin and Kiana Herman; and Maxson Forry; a sister, Agnes Nysse, Kimberly, WI; and numerous relatives and friends. Edith was also preceded in death by two sons, John and Lester; two daughters, Loretta (Roderick) Herman, and Carol Fuss; a sister, Helen (Kenneth) Guyette; two brothers, Francis and Eugene (Joyce) Nieuwenhuis; a brother-in-law, Willard Nysse; and her husband's parents, Rudolph and Mary Fuss.

Agnes E. Nysse, age 90 passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 07, 2016 at Angels Grace Hospice Center in Oconomowoc, WI. She was born on January 16, 1926 in Hortonville, WI., the daughter of John and Mary Nieuwenhuis. She married the love of her life Willard R. Nysse on August 11, 1945 in Hortonville, WI. Agnes loved being surrounded by family and friends. She loved being active and enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, and in her younger days (up until she was 75) she enjoyed an afternoon bowling league. She also enjoyed an occasional afternoon with her daughters playing penny slots at the casino. She was a volunteer at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton for over 40 years. She made many friends while enjoying her varied activities. She spent many years gardening and growing beautiful flowers indoors and outdoors.
Agnes is survived by her five children, Donna (Robert) Danielsen, Rochester, MN, Sharon Davison, Milwaukee, WI, Noreen (LeRoy) Young, Black Creek, WI, Ellen (Charles) Leuck, Fennimore, WI, and Gerald (Cathy) Nysse, Delafield, WI. She was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 9 step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Willard on February 7, 1985, her two brothers Francis and Eugene, two sisters Edith and Helen, one step-grandson Michael Leuck, and one great-granddaughter Brooke Danielsen.
A celebration of Life will be held on December 13, 2016 at ST. BERNADETTES CATHOLIC CHURCH 2331 East Lourdes Drive Appleton, WI., with Fr. Don Zuleger presiding. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:30.

Betty worked in Appleton until her marriage in 1949 to classmate John Much, Jr. They farmed in Dale and were members of SS Peter & Paul Parish in Hortonville. Betty and John were past leaders in the Outagamie County Farm Bureau and Betty was chosen a grandmother for the Sandy Knoll 4-H in 2003. She has made many crafts and quilt blocks over the years and clothes for her children. Betty was an avid reader and collector of things dear to her heart.

MADISON - James A. Everts, 85, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2015. Jim was born January 8, 1930, on a dairy farm near New London, Wisconsin, the son of Walter and Ruth (Schuh) Everts. On June 14, 1953, he married Lois Hill at the Church of St. Mary in Elizabeth, Illinois.
Jim graduated from New London High School in 1947. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, with a B.S. Degree in Agriculture, in 1952. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps Officer Training Program and was assigned to the 8th Motor Transport Battalion. He served on active duty from 1952-1954, then in the Marine Corps Reserve until his honorable discharge in 1961 as a Captain.
Jim began a career with UW-Extension in 1954 as a 4-H Agent in Rock County. In 1960 he joined the UW Meat and Animal Science Department in Madison. He went on to obtain a Master's degree and Ph.D. from the UW-Madison. In 1969, Jim and his family moved to Eau Claire, where he was UW-Extension District Director for 12 western Wisconsin counties. In 1982, Jim and Lois returned to Madison, where he finished his career as State 4-H Program Leader. Jim received distinguished service awards from UW-Extension, Epsilon Sigma Phi, and 4-H. In 2014 he was inducted into the Wisconsin 4-H Hall of Fame.
After retiring in 1987, Jim was an active volunteer. He was an usher at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, AARP volunteer tax aide, driver for the Ronald McDonald House, past president and active member of Madison Chapter of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, and past Grand Knight and active member of Knights of Columbus Council #4527. He was a grower of award-winning dahlias and a past president of the Badger Dahlia Society.
Jim enjoyed many family vacation trips with children and grandchildren to places near and far. He was a lifelong deer hunter, a golfer, and enjoyed an annual fishing trip to Canada. In September 2015, he took the Badger Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., with his oldest son, Chris.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife Lois in 1997. He is survived by 5 children and 8 grandchildren: Chris Everts (Marguerite Lewis) and their children, Theresa and Daniel, of Peoria, Illinois; Kate Everts (Mark VanGessel) and their children, Frank, Carl, Claudia and Gladis, of Delmar, Delaware; Greg Everts (Carla McDonald) and their children, Matthew and Clare, of Madison; Bryan Everts (Corinne Campbell), of Coogee NSW, Australia; and Elizabeth Everts (Laura Rice), of Watertown, Massachusetts. He is survived by 5 siblings: Betty Lou Much of Fremont; Kenneth Everts of Bear Creek; Rosemary Kamps of Combined Locks; Wayne Everts of Salem; and Philip Everts of New London, Wisconsin. Jim is also survived by special friend Marcia Kirschbaum.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 28, at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS CATHOLIC PARISH, 602 Everglade Drive, with Father Bart Timmerman presiding. Friends and relatives may visit with the family from 9 a.m. until mass on Saturday at the church, and all are invited to a luncheon after mass.

Audrey was a telephone operator for 5 years, until their children came along. Later she worked for Ray O Vac for 10 years then retired. She loved to dance, cook, and gardening.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Bernard Catholic Church 1617 W. Pine St. Appleton with Fr. Dennis Ryan officiating. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery Appleton. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Tuesday October 21, 2014 from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM at the CHURCH.

Molitor, Mary KayMary Kay Molitor, Hilbert, age 47, passed away at her home on Wednesday, A ugust 10, 2005, following a lengthy battle with cancer. Mary Kay was bo rn in Antigo on August 1, 1958, daughter of the late Pat Molitor and Bever ly (Schuh) Molitor of Antigo. She attended Antigo High School, and was mar ried to Joe Menting from 1975 until 1989. William "Bill" J. Schuh, age 62, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center- Appleton. He was born to the late William and Margaret (Haug) Schuh on January 9, 1955. Bill graduated from Appleton West High School and St. Thomas University. On January 8, 2000, Bill married Marsha Tonn. He worked at Kohl's, the Post Crescent, and most recently he was self-employed.
Bill enjoyed fishing, boating, and golfing. He was always up for a good time. Bill was a member of the Appleton Yacht Club for many years.
Bill is survived by his wife of 17 years, Marsha; his son John (special friend Brittney) Schuh; his brother Mathew (Melanie) Schuh; his sisters: Betsy (Wally) Szadzinski, Theresa (Mark) Rechner and Peggy (Larry) Jachec; nephews: Ted, Bill, Tony, Conrad and Adam; nieces: Bess (Josh), Maggie (Kevin) and Kate (Derek); his dog Sparky; and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service for Bill will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be held at the funeral chapel from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service.

Hayley M. Guyette, 19, of De Pere died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon as a result of an accident. The daughter of Jeffrey Grassl and Cindy Mommaerts was born March 10, 1992 in Wausau. She was a graduate of West De Pere High School, Class of 2010 and was currently attending NWTC. Hayley was well liked by all who knew and loved her and will miss how she could brighten up a room with just her smile.
Survivors include her parents, Jeff Grassl, Cindy Mommaerts, Hayley's stepfather, Luke Mommaerts, two brothers Jeffrey Grassl, Jr., Jacob Grassl, and sister, Gina Grassl, Hayley's boyfriend, Tyler Hackl and her grandparents, Doris Culver, Chum and Laurie Mommaerts, Mike and Joan Strass, Jean and Jack Grassl, and one great-grandmother, Marge Mommaerts.
